✨ « Mes tableaux ne sont que les cendres de mon art. » Né le 28 avril 1928 à Nice, le plasticien Yves Klein (1928-1962) marqua l'histoire de l'art contemporain par son approche novatrice et audacieuse. Et ce bien que sa carrière artistique fut tragiquement écourtée par sa mort prématurée à l'âge de 34 ans… 💙 L’artiste niçois était pionnier dans l'utilisation de la couleur comme principal moyen d'expression artistique. En particulier, son bleu Klein, ou "International Klein Blue" (IKB), qui devint sa signature artistique. Dans ses peintures monochromes, ce bleu profond et vibrant était emblématique de sa recherche sur l'essence de la couleur. Il considérait celle-ci comme une entité spirituelle destinée à créer une expérience immersive pour le spectateur. En plus de son exploration de la couleur, Klein était également connu pour ses performances artistiques, souvent théâtrales et provocantes. Il organisa plusieurs événements publics, notamment des "actions" où il utilisait son propre corps comme support artistique. Ces performances étaient parfois accompagnées de musique et de danse, créant ainsi des expériences artistiques multidimensionnelles. 🖌️ Dans la série des anthropométries, l'artiste utilisait le corps humain comme outil de création. Lors de ces performances, Klein enduisait de peinture bleue les corps de modèles féminins, puis les utilisait comme "pinceaux vivants" pour créer des empreintes et des traces sur des toiles ou des surfaces de papier. En somme, ces œuvres exploraient la relation entre le mouvement du corps humain et l'acte de création artistique, mettant en lumière l'interaction entre l'artiste, le support et le processus de création. Je vous en propose ici quelques exemples. Au-delà de son travail artistique, Klein était également penseur et théoricien de l'art. Il écrivit plusieurs essais sur l'art et la philosophie, explorant des idées telles que le concept de "l'Immatériel" et la notion de "zone de sensibilité picturale immatérielle" qui influencèrent durablement le développement de l'art contemporain. On August 3, 2015, Kate Pierson and Monica Coleman were married in a ceremony attended by Sia Furler and the B52s. They own a business together in CA called, “Kate’s Lazy Desert,” and “Kate’s Lazy Meadow in NY. “Wild Planet” is the 2nd studio album from the B-52’s, originally released in August of 1980. Shown here is my reissue on red vinyl. The band recoded the album at Compass Point Studios in the Bahamas, as they did for the debut. Many of the songs on the album had been played at concerts since 1978. The band deliberately did not record them for their 1st album because they had an over abundance of sings and wanted a strong 2nd album. Brittany Howard and band are outstanding and I can’t wait to see what they do next! It’s been a long time since the band has released new material. “Sound & Color” was a critical success and received 6 Grammy nominations, including Album of the Year. It ultimately won 4 for Best Alternative Music Album, Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical, as well as Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song for “Don’t Wanna Fight”. It spawned 4 singles; “Don’t Wanna Fight” was the most successful. For this album the band listened to anything and everything for influence, without regard for its public reception in the end. This is a special 180 gram edition on the “Music On Vinyl label.” It was produced by Jerry Harrison of the Talking Heads. Throwing Copper has sold over 8 million copies and was certified 8x platinum by the RIAA. This an exceptionally good LP. The cover art is a painting by artist Peter Howson, titled “Sisters of Mercy.” In 2005 it was sold for $186,000 by Christie’s in New York. In 2004 I was drinking a beer at the Marriott at the Philadelphia Airport, chatting with a young guy about music and near the end of our conversation he divulged he was the tour manager for Live, and lead singer, Ed Kowalczyk’s brother. He played with the band from its inception in 1973 until his departure in 1982. After leaving Kiss, Ace Frehley embarked on a solo career, which was put on hold when he rejoined Kiss in 1996 for a highly successful reunion tour. I’ve read his biography and it’s great. As with many rockers, he’s lucky to be alive. Frehley’s 2nd tenure with Kiss lasted until 2002, when he left at the conclusion of what was originally purported to be the band’s Farewell Tour. Frehley has stated, “I am an anomaly, I’m an unschooled musician, I don’t know how to read music, but I’m one of the most famous guitar players in the world, so go figure.“ “Rock and Roll Over” is the 5th studio album from Kiss, released in November of 1976. This is the 1st Kiss album without a writing credit from Ace Frehley. This is also the last album with which I had any interest with band, however I’d continue to see them live. Marco Francesco Andrea Pirroni is a guitarist, songwriter and record producer, best known as the original guitarist for Adam and the Ants. He has also worked with Sinéad O’Connor, Siouxsie and the Banshees and many others from the late 1970s to the present day. Pirroni’s 1st appearance performing on stage was with Siouxsie and the Banshees at their debut show, in 1976’s; Sid Vicious was on the drums. Marco joined Adam and the Ants in 1980 as the lead guitarist and co-songwriter, writing 2 UK #1 singles and an another 4 Top 10 hits, with Ant. He performed on the previous debut LP “Dirk Wears White Sox,” prior to joining the band, (Guitarist Matthew Ashman and drummer David Barbarossa quit after that release and went on to form Bow Wow Wow.) The 2 albums Marco co-wrote for Adam and the Ants, “Kings of the Wild Frontier” and “Prince Charming,” both made the Top 10 in the UK Albums Chart. When the Ants came through Gainesville FL in 84, I opened the Metro nightclub on a closed night, for a private gathering for Marco. It was a surreal night for sure. “Kings of the Wild Frontier” is the 2nd album from Adam and the Ants. It was released in November of 1980. Released on April 26, 1980. “Los Angeles” is the debut studio album from X. It was produced by Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek, and he plays keys on many of the tracks. It includes a cover of the 1967 Doors song “Soul Kitchen.” A killer LP. My favorite song here is “Johnny Hit and Run Paulenz.” It is considered one of the best punk albums ever recorded. Love it! The band was apart from the crowd with poetic lyrics and excellent vocal harmonies between Exene and John Doe.
