We’ve had another smashing day @wortleyhallsheffield at a painting workshop with @alantaylorartist . We came away feeling very relaxed and also very inspired to try to find time to do some painting at home as practice makes perfect. Workshops are a great way to dip your toe into a new craft and see if it’s something you’d like to pursue further without a great initial outlay for materials and equipment. The event we went to was a large group event but even had we gone alone we would have been fine as everyone was very friendly and encouraging and we all had at least one thing in common as we were there to paint. All the workshops we offer for knitting, crochet and English paper piecing can be booked on a one to one basis or you could arrange a date to come with a friend or 2 or more. We provide all materials so there are no hidden charges on the day. She has been designing and creating with textiles since she was a child, but in 2015 she was introduced to the ancient art of wet felting and instantly fell in love with the incredible versatility of it. Since then, she has concentrated primarily on developing and refining her felt making skills, taking numerous courses from both UK and international felt makers. She is also a member of the International Felt makers’ Association. 🌺Karen has a love of colour and texture and it is this that most people comment on when they see her work. She says “Colour and texture are very important to me; texture can bring a piece of work to life and colour can influence your mood. Spring is officially here!!! I love seeing the beauty that emerges after a long, cold winter; green grass, tree blossoms, tulips, and fat little rock chucks emerging from hibernation. All things signifying new beginnings and transformation. In March, as I anticipated the coming of spring; Eric and I took a much-needed vacation to recharge and celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. During this time, we reflected on our life; family, kids, home, business, friends, marriage, and goals for the future. We asked ourselves, what do we need to do to achieve these goals? We decided it was time to take a pause and change the direction of Craftology Company. I am nervous, sad, and anxious to announce that we are going to close the studio in our current location. While we are not certain what Craftology Company will look like after we close the doors; we are certain that Craftology Company is NOT going away. Although we don’t have details at this time, we have a plan and will make announcements to keep you updated as we work through this transformation. (It’s going to be great!) We did not come by this decision lightly. It was my dream to create a beautiful space that would bring people together. A place full of joy, laughter, creativity, and friendship. Over the last 3 years, we have worked tirelessly to make my dream a reality. Craftology Company became our priority, and it is now time that we shift our priorities back to our family. Our last day open in our current location will be Saturday July 20th. Until then, we are open for business as usual, with lots of workshops, walk-in times and dates available for private parties through May and June. (Check them out on our website.) As we have a few new people here it feels a good time to be brave ! This is me. I simply adore to hear people's stories, so this is a little of mine. Hi, I'm Claire, and I run Created the Ottaway.I fell into this quite by accident. Crafting was /is my therapy before it was trendy to say that. My husband Paul is my everything. We have grown two wonderful young men together that we are immensely proud off.Our oldest and his beautiful partner gave us a precious granddaughter who brings such joy as well 😍 Our second has a condition called Angelmans Syndrome, and this is where craft 'therapy ' came in.This also led me to changing careers and working for a the NHS in a communication hub in the uk providing 'voices' and alternative technology for young people. I have rheumatoid arthritis and endometriosis. I am also perimenopausal so my hubby is long suffering!!! I love to craft for a purpose, so make beautiful things for our home. As well as gifts for those I love and to sell should someone like what I make. From cards to scrapbooks, quilts to blankets just about any craft, I will give it a go. I also love to teach craft and bring that joy into people's lives, so I run workshops, a weekly community craft group, and other craft events. I stumbled across Stampin'Up! A craft supply company fell in love with their products and ethos, so now sell for them as a demonstrator and simply love being part of that community too . My main weakness is I love all crafts but papercraft is my first love the simple joy of turning stamps ink and paper into beautiful things is addictive.Plus the joy it brings to others in the making or receiving is priceless. When I'm not crafting, I love pretty china stationery, cats and flowers. I love to read ,to garden ,to walk and to bake and trees. I really love trees!
