Improvisation is about the unpredictable nature of existence and the need to adapt and create in the moment. At Kulturnest, we recently hosted a captivating calligraphy workshop with artist calligrapher Ghaleb Hawila, inspired by the renowned work of Samir Sayegh. Participants had the opportunity to explore new techniques, delve into the mechanics of calligraphy, and unleash their creativity. Through improvisation, they discovered new possibilities and added their unique touch to the art form. Just as in calligraphy, where the spaces between strokes are as significant as the strokes themselves, improvisation plays a crucial role in the creative journey, allowing for spontaneity and innovation. Calligraphy workshop with artist calligrapher Ghaleb Hawila inspired by the work of artist and calligrapher Samir Sayegh. Throughout the session, attendees will have the opportunity to experiment with new techniques and thought processes under the expert guidance of Ghaleb Hawila. The workshop commences with a short video showcasing Samir Sayegh's renowned works, setting the stage for inspiration. Participants will then delve into the mechanics of the chiseled pen effect, visually exploring its various directions and possibilities. Through hands-on activities, and practical experience in calligraphic techniques, attendees will also receive insights into layout and composition. The session culminates with group feedback on outcomes, encouraging collaboration and collective growth. This initiative is funded by the BERYT project.
