John's Garden is looking absolutely stunning. Visit tomorrow to see drifts of Tulipa sprengeri and the Mediterranean Garden filled with thymes, sages and other drought tolerant plants. The Ruin Garden on John's patio has just been planted with a tropical vibe for the summer. Wisteria at Greys Court (a National Trust property near Henley-on-Thames, in South Oxfordshire). We visited Greys Court earlier this week, hoping to see its renowned wisteria and were not disappointed.

Aberglasney Garden is said to be one of the finest gardens in Wales and it’s easy to see why. There are 10 different garden styles to explore at Aberglasney from the historic and unique cloiser garden to the woodland gardens and to the Yew Tunnel. Perhaps, one of the most famous garden is the Ninfarium, a sub-tropical indoor garden with a glass roof which sadly I couldn’t visit as it was renovated at the time. I was blown away by this hidden gem and as you walk from one garden to the other one you don’t really know what to look at: there’s beauty everywhere. On Thursday, @jon_z_gardener, one of our very own talented, brilliant gardeners WON the 2024 Young Horticulturist of the Year competition. Organized by the Chartered Institute of Horticulture (@cihort), the competition is open to anyone under the age of 30 and is run once a year. After being successful in his local heat and then winning the regional final, he then went on to compete in, and win, the final at Hestercombe Gardens in Somerset. On winning, Jon says: “Despite the competitive atmosphere, contestants were friendly and supportive of one another, engaging in great discussions relating to challenges across the industry. In addition to the competition, we enjoyed an insightful tour from head gardener Clare Greenslade, showcasing her unique approach to garden conservation. With spring flowers blooming earlier than usual, we were treated to a wealth of historic blooms. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone in the industry. The dedication and passion displayed by everyone involved was truly inspiring. As the fortunate winner, I've been awarded a £2500 bursary grant to be used freely to explore gardens or AONBs with botanical interest worldwide.“ We are so proud to have Jon working here in the gardens with us, he is an asset to the team and a great ambassador for the industry. #YHOY #helminghamhallgardens #greatbritishgardens
