It feels great to check something off the to do list! This sweet little felted bag has been in the cue for years and I’m wondering why I waited, just like most things 😉 One hangs on my spinning wheel and another hangs on my loom. Both to hold the small tools so they’re right on hand. A quick knit up, then wet felted and drying time and voila! I used worsted weight wool yarn from my stash that was lingering from a frogged project 😏 and so it’s a win win. Super cute! This little sculpture was made in my pottery class by a lady called Trish. I used to take Coco along, though she alarmed me one day by falling in the Cam, at White House Arts, just by the river in Cambridge. I had taken her for a little walk there after the class. Thank goodness she still had her lead on and a passing rower gallantly helped her out, otherwise I was going to have to get very wet! Coco who by her nature was very cautious was not very careful about river banks. I can’t remember if I asked Trish to make Coco, as she was a marvel at animals, but I did buy it from her. In Hawaiian culture the Man O’ War is sacred for its ability to navigate through deep, vast seas-and oceans without getting lost or stranded. Hawaiians also believe it represents adaptability and resilience in the face of adversity. In Japanese culture the Man O’ War symbolizes strength and determination, reminding us to persevere despite obstacles. I just love all of this, and I can truly relate. Well the build has certainly got underway and it looked more like @lumberjacktoolsuk showroom lol , with some great help from Clive @sneekswallart and Mark Straughton the other half of Jenny @jennifers_craftandcreations they did a sterling job pretty much doing the lions share of the work, there is a great post on @valeries_crafty_attic page showing some great photos of the build so far. Without these two guys I would have probably only got a fraction of it done. So soft and puffy, the best thing about handmade quilts. If you like this look, make sure to use a loose quilting so it doesn’t flatten everything once all sandwiched. Gold rush golden glow blanks with old grape vine from an 1850's mining camp by the South fork of the American river near Coloma California.😮 I do a lot of metal detecting and find myself in a lot of the same places as the old timers that mined in the 1850's California gold rush. This place had lush grape vines all through the old stacks of rocks. Rooted. We have another Sue Spargo wool project finish! This is Shawna’s @shawanawhoopall and it’s so good. Not too big, not too small, just right! At 20”x23” it’s not one of the ones that takes a lifetime to finish and is beautiful and earthy. I know a few of us are working on our version and this will inspire us to finish too 🤗 These projects are the perfect thing to take along with us when in travel mode, small and portable. The blocks come together one stitch at a time and suddenly there’s a mosaic of beautiful wool and thread, like art. We just can’t get enough of the texture and 3Dness (is that a word 😆) of every little stitch. Ps- those 🐝🐝 are sooo cute!! Well done Shawna!
