Not your Average Anglers @trudeowens Sturgeon fishing is already extremely scary, hooking one of these monsters in the middle of the night is terrifying 😂 Hooked up to this giant at 12:20am, and didn’t land it until just before 5am. We didn’t even get to see this fish until 3 1/2 hours into the fight. All we knew was we couldn’t control it at all, and heard massive wale like splashes as it jumped 5 times during the fight in complete darkness. Legit felt like the old man from one of my favorite books “the old man and the sea”, wondering if this fish was even worth what we were putting ourselves through haha. FREEZING water, complete exhaustion, barely being able to grip the rod as our grip strength was shot, as we had already caught 20 sturgeon over a 2 day stretch before hooking into this fish just after Midnight on our final night of the trip. Nothing humbles you quite like fighting these pre-historic beasts over a couple of days, it’s exhausting, painful, and an absolute grind, but I love every single moment 🙏🏼

2001 yılında tanıştığım mersin balıklarıyla ilgili ilk ulusal çalıştayı Sinop'ta gerçekleştirdik. Akuakültür yoluyla ulaşabildiğimiz bu önemli gıdayı toplumla yeniden tanıştırmak heyecan verici ama ama... var olan neslini koruyamadığımız ama geriye kalan mersin balıklarını korumak artık bizim öncelikli meselemiz olmalıdır. Doğasında yok ettiğimiz bu canlılara ait nerdeyse 10 yılı geçmiş mevcut koruma eylem planımızı TBMM gündemine taşıma görev sorumluluğu da idari erkin meselesidir. Yok kaybolan değeri geri kazanmak bizim meselemiz değildir diyorsak unutalım gitsin yeni kuşaklar çevreci gençler elbet affetmeyecektir. Vebali de akademisyenler, gönlünü çevre değerlerimize adayan kamu görevlilerinde olmayacaktır. Kürsülerden söylediklerimizi buradan bir kez daha tekrarlamak ve söz etmek istedim. Karadeniz ülkelerinin topraklarından geçen ve mersin balığının girmeye çalıştığı hangi nehir olursa olsun ortak önceliğe alınmalıdır. Karadeniz etrafındaki ülkelerin arasında Türkiye sorunu çözen sorumluluk alan ülke olmak zorundadır. Yoksa dinazorlardan beri var diyerek söze başladığımız bu canlıları dinazorlarla beraber tarihe gömelim gitsin!!
