Pillars of Heracles by @apeirongames takes us back in time, in Ancient Greece, where city-states compete with each other in order to rewrite history and earn glory! Gameplay Overview In Pillars of Heracles players take on the roles of city-state leaders in ancient Greece. The goal is to create the most glorious city and there are many ways to achieve that. Each city starts small but can expand by exploring and settling other areas, deploying and commanding units, constructing buildings and monuments, recruiting the right people and acquiring various upgrades. Glory is earned through monuments, territory control and completing prophecies. The leader of the city-state with the most glory at the end of the game is the winner. The game simulates all of the above through various game mechanisms. There is a rondel for taking various actions during the game. The people that make up each city-state are represented by cards and each player starts with the same deck of ten cards but can improve that by acquiring more cards so there is a deck building element there. There is some exploring and of course the units will be moving around the map. Area control is important throughout the game and even though there is no combat in the standard version of the game, you can play the skirmish mode if you’d prefer direct confrontation. The upgrades are represented by advancing on tracks by spending resources and you can also spend resources to construct buildings and deploy new units. Lastly, there is some asymmetry in the player abilities through the city-state tiles. The game has no set amount of rounds. Players keep taking turns in clockwise order until the end game is triggered. After that, the current round finishes and one more is played before proceeding to scoring. Each player turn consists of 2 phases: 1. The Status Check phase. This is mostly a check for area control in certain regions in order to gain benefits. (Part 2 in the comments)

🇳🇱 🇧🇪 In 𝐁𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐬 van @hig_games maken we elk onze botanische tuin om indruk te maken op onze bezoekers. Bij de start van het spel krijgen we elke ons eigen tuinbord. Daar plaatsen we onze tuinman op, op het startveld. Naast de startobjectieven per rij mogen we ook de geavanceerde objectieven plaatsen. Deze objectieven gaan over het verkrijgen van bepaalde combinaties bloemen in die rijen. De spelersvolgorde wordt bepaalt door wie bovenaan staat in de kolom op het actie selectiebord. Als je aan de beurt bent, mag je eerst je tuinman verplaatsen, maar dit kost je munten. Je mag ook 1 kaart uitspelen voor zijn voordeel. Kaarten kan je gedurende het spel op verschillende plaatsen verdienen. Daarna neem je je actiesteen, in de vorm van een bloemfiche, en verplaatst je die naar de volgende kolom, naar de gewenste actie. Hoe hoger in de kolom je gekozen actie staat, hoe minder krachtig. Maar dan heb je wel meer kans om de volgende ronde eerder aan de beurt te zijn. Sommige kolommen heb maar 1 actie, andere 2. Bij een kolom met 2 acties zet je je fiche op de niet gedrukte actie. Want als iemand nadien dezelfde actie wil doen, kan die dit door 3 munten te betalen en bovenop je fiche te komen liggen. Maar de niet gedrukte actie is dan niet zichtbaar en wordt dan ook niet uit gevoerd. Voorbeelden van acties zijn bvb: bloemen plaatsten. Bloemen plaats je altijd aangrenzend aan je tuinman en komen in 4 niveaus. Met de gieter kan je bloemen laten groeien, van niveau laten stijgen. Je kan ook vooruit op het muntenspoor, kruiwagenspoor en plantspoor om voordelen te krijgen. Kom je op het einde van het zonspoor dan krijg je bonuspunten en ga je terug naar het begin. Ook kan je munten krijgen en je tuinman verplaatsen. Heb je tegen het einde van het spel een volledige kolom met bloemen dan zal je ook nog bonuspunten scoren. Na 2 keer het volledige actiespoor te hebben afgelopen, krijgen we nog elk een stap op een van de 3 sporen en tellen we de punten. Wie maakt de mooiste tuin? There are 44 randomly generated maps in this little book for you to play through. Meaning each version of this game is unique! Okay so Asmodai is so very nearly complete! I've got a few details to finish up and I think I want to work a little more on the smoke but overall I'm really happy with how he's turned out with the time I've spent on him. Whilst I love trying to push myself to improve my highest quality, I also want to take what I learn and apply it to my army painting so I can achieve results I'm happy with in a reasonable time frame and I think this really hits a sweet spot that time/quality scale for me. I also tried something a little different with the nmm sword recipe and, whilst not perfect, oh my. God I'm so much happier with this outcome! It really pops out from the rest of the model and captures that sheen nicely for me! It's #twoplayertuesday #twosday🎲 #twosday and this week we have been playing the brilliant TRIBES OF THE WIND by @hachetteboardgamesuk @laboitedejeu ❤️❤️ Not only is the artwork Dutrait-beautiful, but the gameplay is brilliant, and works perfectly at 2P! Essentially you are a Wind Tribe, and it is your job to clear up pollution and build a new world. Each turn you can either play an elemental card to activate its effect(s), place a temple for a bonus action, plant a forest, or build a village. Some actions - like building a village requires you to have done some prep work - clearing pollution from the target location and moving sufficient Wind Riders to the forest tile you're converting. But the personal building scoring objectives, and the end game points are worth the programming, and no action ever feels unachievable - timing becomes key in a really fun, thinky way! There are also asymmetric multi-use bonuses which are triggered when you lay a specific combination of coloured tiles on your board in a given order. What is so cool is that the elemental cards trigger depending on how many of the specific type you have compared to your opponents. And at 2P, the cards in the offer row and top deck card act as the 3rd player. It is such a simple way to add in the necessary comparison without having to run a fiddly dummy player - I wish other 2P games did this! TRIBES OF THE WIND is a brilliant combination of puzzle, tile placement, set collection, and hand management. Choosing one action means not being able to do another which is a fun tension. And knowing where you place tiles has consequences for both your own bonus, potential end game scoring objectives, and how easily your Wind Riders can move around your board to enable building actions really makes you think! La historia de los Caballeros del Lobo Blanco ha tenido altibajos a lo largo de las distintas ediciones de Warhammer Fantasy. Comenzaron siendo los menos elegidos en los ejércitos imperiales ya que tenían peor tirada de salvación y al estar equipados con armas a dos manos atacaban los últimos. Con su revisión, creo recordar en 5º o 6º edición, se convirtieron en la mejor caballería del Imperio. Gracias a la novedad de las armaduras de placas y su martillo de caballería que ya no atacaban los últimos, con F+2 a la carga y F+1 el resto de turnos. Esta unidad que vemos aquí fue la punta de lanza de mi ejército imperial a lo largo de muchas batallas. Finalmente, con otra nueva revisión, todo acabó como empezó y se volvierona imponer los caballeros armados con lanzas de caballería y escudo. Toda una odisea evolutiva . The history of the Knights of the White Wolf has had ups and downs throughout the different editions of Warhammer Fantasy. They started out being the least chosen in the imperial armies since they had the worst saving throws and, being equipped with two-handed weapons, they attacked last. With their revision, I seem to remember in 5th or 6th edition, they became the best cavalry in the Empire. Thanks to the novelty of plate armor and its cavalry hammer, they no longer attacked last, with F+2 when charging and F+1 the rest of the turns. This unit we see here was the spearhead of my imperial army throughout many battles. Finally, with another new revision, everything ended as it began and knights armed with cavalry lances and shields were imposed again. El turno es tan sencillo como robar dos cartas o jugar una carta. Para jugar carta, por lo general nos pedirá un coste, que será descartar cierta cantidad de ellas. Las cartas vienen con varias opciones de colocación y los criterios de puntuación son de lo más variados. 👍𝑳𝑶 𝑸𝑼𝑬 𝑴𝑬 𝑮𝑼𝑺𝑻𝑨: - El juego viene en caja pequeña, se explica en poco más de 5 minutos y se juega en menos de una hora, dando una sensación de juego con desarrollo muy chula. - Las ilustraciones son bastante buenas. - El juego te hace tomar decisiones cada turno; qué carta descartar, en que lado jugarla, qué árbol plantar... Hay ocasiones que necesitas cierto animal a derechas pero te sale a izquierdas y dices "vale, lo pongo aquí" pero taparías otro que te viene MUY bien, y claro, te preguntas "¿Saldrá de nuevo?”. It’s Monday, and we just wanted to talk about the games we played this weekend with our friend Chris at our local FLGS. First we got our big game out of the way, which was good game of Terraforming Mars, with our blinged out copy, that has both metal resource cubes and 3D printed tiles. I love Terraforming Mars, I love at the end, you feel like you’ve accomplished something, I love how the cards feel like fun positive stuff to do. I had a great time despite finishing in a distant third. Next we introduced Chris to Canvas. Canvas is a card layering game where you layer cards to make an interesting art piece, although in reality you are just combing symbols to score scoring cards. My wife and I really enjoy this game, but even we concede that this is a game where the aesthetics take precedent over the mechanics of the game. The third game we played, we’ll talk about on Wednesday, in our weekly keep or cull post. Finally we ended the day with a light play of the Rotten Tomatoes game, which we forgot to take a picture of, but we’ve already played this a few times and I really enjoy this game of trying to lay out movies in their tomato rating order.
