"Talking to Your Baby: Boosting Development from Day One" From birth, your baby is primed to learn and grow, and conversation is key to their development. Here's why: 1. Language Boost: Talking to your baby from the start helps them grasp language patterns and vocabulary early on, laying a strong foundation for communication skills. 2. Bonding Bonanza: Regular communication fosters a deep bond between you and your baby, providing them with a sense of security and attachment crucial for emotional development. 3. Brain Builder: Engaging in conversation stimulates your baby's neural pathways, fueling cognitive growth and setting the stage for future learning. 4. Social Skills Starter: Even before they can respond, babies are tuned into social cues. Talking to them teaches turn-taking, eye contact, and social interaction basics. 5. Vocabulary Expansion: Introducing a rich vocabulary early broadens their language skills as they grow. How to do it: - Narrate Daily Activities: Describe your actions as you go about your day. - Use Simple Language: Incorporate real words and simple sentences. - Respond to Cues: Pay attention to their sounds and gestures, and respond accordingly. - Read Together: Even from a young age, reading exposes them to language rhythms and new concepts. Start the conversation early – your baby is listening and learning! #TalkingToYourBaby #EarlyDevelopment #BabyTalk #LanguageSkills #ParentingTips #BabyBonding #BrainDevelopment #SocialSkills #VocabularyExpansion #Parenting101

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common hormonal condition that affects women of reproductive age. It usually starts during adolescence, but symptoms may fluctuate over time. PCOS can cause hormonal imbalances, irregular periods, excess androgen levels and cysts in the ovaries. Irregular periods, usually with a lack of ovulation, can make it difficult to become pregnant. PCOS is a leading cause of infertility. PCOS is a chronic condition and cannot be cured. However, some symptoms can be improved through lifestyle changes, medications and fertility treatments.  The cause of PCOS is unknown but women with a family history or type 2 diabetes are at higher risk. All babies have behaviours that tell you what they need; premature or sick babies do this too. Observing for cues (signs) can help you to determine appropriate times to handle your baby. When looking at your baby's skin colour, breathing, facial expressions, and movements, you will be able to tell if your baby is satisfied, when they want you to interact with them, and when they need some rest. Find out more about behavioural cues by: 1. Talking to your neonatal nurse; 2. Click the link in our bio @emnodn and go to the Behavioural Cues page. 3. How we communicate with babies is not something you’re told on your pre-natal course. Most of what you think about is ‘stuff’ and how to create the right environment for your baby, because that is something you can visualise and control. (Well not in my case because as you can see, I had my eldest the day we moved- and the new flat was in no way ready 😳🥺🤯). Bonding with babies is all about communication and connection. It takes some time to learn how to communicate with your baby. How they ‘speak’ to you and what you should do back. And because of this it can take a bit of time to feel the connection you hoped would be there right from the start. I believe this is why our love grows eternally when we have babies- because we start to figure them out. And through them, we start to understand ourselves better. But like I said, sometimes this can take time and that’s ok. Ways in which we can communicate: 💙Close eye contact. ❤️Mirroring your baby. 💜Responding back sounds your baby makes (serve and return). 💛Touch -skin to skin to release oxytocin. 💚Talking/ narrating what you are doing to your baby. 🧡Reading stories. 💙Singing. ❤️Responding to baby’s cues. 💜Syncing your breath (this is something that I discovered by chance and was magic 🪄). As you can see there are so many ways to help understand how and what your baby needs and wants. Baby massage is a brilliant tool to help facilitate this. All of these methods of communication can help build that connection and your bond. If you’re not quite there yet, keep going, get help if you need it and it will come ❤️. *picture of my dad in his overalls at my old flat on day 3 of me being a mother. Posted @withregram • @brazeltonuk Your baby is so interested in exploring the world, especially through interaction with you, but they can only tolerate so much stimulation. There are many little time-out cues that can signal needing a break like yawning, looking away, sneezing, hiccupping, change in colour or breathing. Allow your baby to renew their energy and help by lowering the level of stimulation before playing again when they show they are ready. Dr. Beatrice Beebe on infant-mother/caretaker communication. Please see following photos. Dr. Beatrice Beebe should be a well known household name for her research and contribution to the understanding of how babies relate and how important it is for mother - the usual primary other - to know how to understand the baby’s distress and ways of communicating. “Baby needs to be recognized in both positive and distress moments …adults also depend on our partners responding to us in our different emotional states and babies are just like us. “ “Finding some way to join the baby in the distress - key is to recognize and empathize with baby’s distress. “ In the first months a pattern will be established which will influence the baby’s attachment style and internal self and other regulation. This talk is so rich that I hope everyone who sees this post will take the time to watch it. I had the joy of meeting Dr. Beebe several years ago and learning this early on. It influenced my way of doing treatment. She and Frank Lachman, another teacher, have written on this research. These books are worth getting. If there is a baby in your life you will be delighted. Anyone else in your life will benefit. The pictures in the video are not the actual research subjects which confidentiality protects. #beatricebeebe #infantresearch #motherinfantbonding #howbabiescommunicate #babiesdistress #babiesemotionaldevelopment #regulatingdistress #youtube #decodingthenonverballanguageofbabies #newmothers #babiesfeelings #newborns #postpartumdepressionandbaby #talkingtoyourbaby

Now that your 1- year old is starting to understand you, she will begin to experience her world 🌎 in new ways. Your baby 👶 wants to be involved in everything. But her world runs much slower than yours. One year olds like to practice and do the same thing over and over. Each repetition is a new lesson and layer of learning. Chatting with your 👶 is brain building. So, have conversations with your baby, respond when they make a sound. Tell them about the day, ask them about their surrounding, describe color, texture, smells, anything to keep the conversation going. You’ve got this. Your child’s first teacher. ❤️ #weteachthis #1yearolds #talkingtoyourbaby #WearBlueDay #pinwheelsforprevention #familysupport #healthyfamiliespascohernando #newportrichey #portrichey #holidayfl #hudson #springhill #brooksville #dadecity #zephyrhills

It is so fantastic that in recent years there has been more education/emphasis to expectant and new parents to 'talk to your baby'. It's so important we engage and interact with our baby when they're ready for it ( in a calm, alert state) but it's ALSO good to remember communication is two way. We need to believe and trust our baby is speaking back to us. Our baby's body language will continuously be sparking conversation- "Come and play with me!", "I'm feeling tired, can you help me calm the environment?", "I'm starting to get hungry, can I have a cuddle and a feed". When we understand the ways our baby shares with us their needs, thoughts and feelings we can respond accordingly. We become attuned to our baby and our relationship deepens ❤️ Let's remember: Communication is two ways. Even with babies. And good communication is one of the keys to a flourishing relationship. #babycommunication #talkingtoyourbaby #playingwithyourbaby #babycues #newbornbaby #newparents #parentbabyrelationship #bonding #bodylanguage

Talking to your baby during your pregnancy, especially in the third trimester has a direct impact on baby's development. The experiences that begin to wire & fire their brain begin in the uterus (womb), with physical sensations. Things like being supported in the amniotic fluid, your body's warmth keeping baby warm, being gently rocked as you walk, tastes from your diet that he or she is exposed to through the amniotic fluid & of course hearing your voice & the voices of those you spend most time with. The baby will also feel calm & settled when you are calm & settled. The third trimester is the ideal time to start giving your baby 'instructions'. Think along the lines of being in the ideal position for birth; being a happy settled baby; letting her know how much she is already loved; telling him how much he is wanted & how you're looking forward to meeting him. Listening to calm relaxing music will also have a positive effect. Conversely the opposite is also true. If you are experiencing high levels of stress during pregnancy the baby will pick up on those experiences just as they will the positive & calm ones. #thirdtrimester #pregnant #pregnancy #talkingtoyourbaby #positivethoughts #calmbirth #parent_code #donnammartin

Talking Tuesday. Here we are making sounds in a plastic stacking cup. There are so many things you could use to do this activity: a plastic block, a cup, kitchen role tube, wrapping paper tube, etc. Simple but valuable for developing children’s speech and language skills. Being able to make sounds is a big step in speech and language development. The excitement on the face of this 8-month old realising that his voice changes with the cup is just fabulous. You can start by simply exploring and making noises. Once your child/baby begins to make the connection that the noise is their voice you can encourage them by making long and short sounds or even two sounds and see if they can copy you. Keep it fun and short! #languagedevelopment #makingsounds #babytalk #talking #learningtotalk #speechdevelopment #talkingtoyourbaby #talkingtoyourtoddler #speechsounds #phonicsskills #phase1phonics #reigatemums #surreymums

BABY TALK Also known as infant directed speech Babies prefer to communicate using Infant directed speech because it easily grabs their attention in contrast to normal adult speech thus they learn words faster. ⚡Consists of short simple sentences, ⚡slower speaking rate ⚡high pitch and varied pitch (sing song voice) ⚡ exaggerated pronunciation, ⚡prolonged pauses ⚡repeated words and phrases ⚡more questions than just statements or sentences Baby talk does not mean incorrectly pronouncing words as this will not benefit your child. In addition, using the same words for different things all in the name of baby talk is not helpful . . . . . #babytalking #earlylanguagedevelopment #earlychildhoodlearning #parentchildbonding #raisingkids #babytalk #talkingtoyourbaby #speechandlanguage #languagelearner #babybabble

I’m sure pretty much everyone has heard the term “baby talk?” Where you say “goo-goo-ga-ga your teeny-weeny fingers are weally weally cute.” Speech Therapists (at least the ones I’ve talked to) suggest that rather than using this type of speech to babies- use parentese! Parentese is talking to your baby using a higher pitch and slower tempo but still using real words and correct grammar. Studies have shown that parentese boosts your baby's language development, and make them more socially engaged to make 'conversation' with you!• • • • • • • #speechdevelopment #parentese #talkingtoyourbaby #parents #Parenting #moms #motherhood #momlife #mom #newmom #motherhood #baby #kids #toddler #children #babydevelopment #mommylove #happybaby #mybaby #familyfirst #family #dadlife #happymom #babydevelopment #development #babysfirstword #learningtotalk

Early Language Development Babies start cooing as early as eight weeks old in response to their parent’s or caregiver’s infant speech (motherese). These sounds occur when the baby is content and relaxed. Cooing sounds do not grow out of crying but develop alongside them. They are quieter, lower-pitched, and more musical sounds. Do you want to know why babbies babble?
