That’s a wrap on the annual visit to my spiritual homeland. The west coast was magnificent! Already signed up for next years Writers Fest. I will need more bookshelves tho… I came back with SO many books. Loved hanging with the charming CBC darling Shelagh Rogers (and celebrating her retirement- she will be missed!!) I’m inspired by the brilliant Giller prize winner Suzette Mayr… her capture of {The Sleeping Car Porter} is beautifully authentic. She and her partner Tonya are just lovely. Had some epic conversations about life, love and tragedy, and the inbetween, with other fest attendees, cafe employees, friends new and old, Andrew, random tourists and even academy award winning Sarah Polley. High calibre company continued when THE Anita Best especially entertained us on trad night, a total highlight. She sang a number of old songs, many of which I knew. (But could never come up with the lyrics to ALL those verses!) The 30 or so musicians form a circle and jam… and everyone else becomes part of the session. Duane Andrews was mesmerizing to watch play, expert fingering, switching between guitar and fiddle… but the best surprise was my friend Sara closing the night with a song, sung from a woman’s perspective and about women, no less. Doba ma stanowczo za mało godzin - taki wniosek towarzyszy mi od początku 2023 roku. Czas zawsze szybko leciał, ale w tym roku to wręcz przelatuje przez palce. W związku z tym, wspomnienie z wyjazdu do Aten trafia tutaj dopiero teraz. Podróżowanie z dzieckiem jest super! Jest mega ciężko, zwłaszcza jak rezolutna 2,5 latka wszystko chce "siama" i zawsze biegnie w przeciwną stronę, a dramat goni dramat, ale potem przychodzi wdzięczność za wszystkie wspólne chwile i cudowne wspomnienia :) Ateny ponownie oczarowały 😍 4 raz i ciągle mi mało. Zwłaszcza, że to takie tanie miejsce - nic tylko korzystać!
