Garment Care 🧼🫧 At Alternative Research all our dyed garments are dyed using various techniques of natural plant dyeing. Every garment is unique and will change over time. You won’t need to wash your garment after every use (thanks to merino wool), but to maintain the longetivity of the product and reduce its environmental impact, we recommend hand-washing your gargment separate in cold water using a natural and pH-neutral detergent (Savon de Marseille works great). Excited to be continuing our #tuesdaytarot series where we pull a tarot card from one of our #tarotdecks and then find an item from the library that matches the vibe! We continue to use one of our favorite decks -- The Queer Tarot from @ashandchess ! Today's card is the ten of wands, which according to our guide represents "blocks and burdens that may be holding you back". We chose two titles that we thought might help with this feeling. #shiva carving located inside the #peroortemple photographed by #edwarddavidlyon in 1868. The description accompanying the photo reads, " This view . . . represents Shiva in the hide of an elephant. One foot rests on its head, the tail is seen above, and the legs two on each side. What the legend by which this sculpture represents, is by no means clear, but it frequently occurs in temples of the South of India. It is not apparently known in the North. The elephant is regarded as a special beast in Asia and features in various myths. " ____________________________ An Indian historian added the following, " This particular carving illustrates Shiva performing his powerful #tandavadance of victory wearing an elephant hide. According to #hindumythology when #goddessdurga (a fierce form of #parvati, the consort of Shiva) was battling the buffalo-demon #mahishasura, he assumed different forms to avoid annihilation. At one point he took the form of an elephant and in a version of the myth, Shiva made this beast #gajasura dance with him till it fell down dead. Shiva then flayed the demon and wearing his dripping skin performed his terrifying dance, shaking the cosmos.
