Also vegan pastry available. __ Note: the 'waffle fries' are not labelled as vegan on the menu, although they are part of the viva las vega bagel. I was assured they are vegan and baked in the same oil as the falafels - plantbased oil. ➡️ Had the Viva las Vega bagel 'burger' (it's with falafel balls, 14,95€) and a portion of hummus on the side (3,6€) and lemonade with elderflower (4,8€). Reasonably prices - given the location! As it was a nice Spring day, lots of people sat on the large terrace (with a splendid view at the Belfry) 🤩, so inside was calm. - Lots of space inside. 🇱🇹Vilnius központi része a katedrális tér, ahol két fontos épület is található. Az egyik a székesegyház, amely a litván katolikus élet fő központja a hozzá tartozó harangtoronnyal együtt, a másik pedig az alsó vár épületegyüttese. Maga a tér is a modernkori Litvánia fő eseményeinek a központja, itt történt az ország függetlenségének kikiáltása is a 90-és évek legelején. A katedrális helyén már korábban is pogány kápolna állhatott. A kereszténységre való áttérés után a 13. században épülhetett ide az első katolikus templom. Története elég mozgalmas, jelenlegi klasszicista formáját a 18. század legvégén nyerte el. A templomot Szent Szaniszló és Szent László tiszteletére szentelték fel, a magyar uralkodónak külön kápolnát is építettek az utolsó átalakítás során. A mellette álló harangláb 57 méter magas és érdemes felmászni a tetejére. A belépő 6€, és egy kevés lépcsőt meg kell hozzá mászni. A tér egyik kockáján található litvánul egy felirat, ami azt jelenti: csoda. Miejscem, z którego rozpościera się piękny widok na warszawską starówkę jest taras widokowy na dachu dzwonnicy, znajdującej się przy kościele św. Anny na Krakowskim Przedmieściu, tuż obok Placu Zamkowego. Okazała dzwonnica została ufundowana przez Annę Jagiellonkę w 1578 roku. Co ciekawe, już od samego początku pełniła ona bardziej funkcję punktu obserwacyjnego niż dzwonnicy. W latach 1819-1821 została przebudowana w stylu neorenesansowym. W trakcie drugiej wojny spłonęła, ale została odbudowana. Renowacje trwały od 1946 do 1962 roku. W zrekonstruowanej gloriecie zawieszono w 1978 r. trzy dzwony. Z dzwonnicy widać piękną panoramę Zamku Królewskiego i Starówki, Kolumnę Zygmunta, Trasę W-Z, Wisłę, Stadion Narodowy i inne obiekty. La façana principal de Sint-Pieterskerk de Leuven va restar inacabada i ni tan sols la portalada va poder ser rematada amb els corresponents arcs. Aquest frontispici havia estat dissenyat amb ambició per coronar-se amb tres (!) altes i esveltes torres, assolint la central uns 170 m d’altura (!). Images of Oudenaarde - city center - The Oudenaarde Town Hall in East Flanders built in 1526 (painting shows how it looked in the 1600s) is one of only 56 UNESCO “belfries” - historic buildings recognized for the emergence of civic life. Walking around after completing our short Sportif on a rainy day, we should have checked out the interior which is filled with 500 year old tapestries, a Silver Room and a magnificent “portal” where the aldermen held meetings. On top of the building is “Hanske de Krijger” - the warrior - mythical guardian of the city. We had a recovery dinner at the restaurant as I poetically drank a beer from the Roman brewery which I rode past on the shortcut to end the Sportif early to avoid full on hypothermia. 😳🥶 Belgium is beautiful and look forward to a sunnier, warmer return.
