Take what you need today 💫🔥 It is so easy to just sit around and do nothing and take no action, but are you honestly able to say that you are happy that way? Something I’ve come to find as a young adult starting their career is so many people are afraid to ask questions. You may not be in school anymore but you should still ask questions. I think often times we want to be speculate about what an answer might be as we’ve been told we should try to figure something out first. What if you simply ask, not necessarily on impulse, but just in thought. Imagine the relief of anxiety that would take away. Yesterday I went to a public library and simply asked, without expectations. In result I was able to get my self published books inside the library because I took a chance where the only downside potential would be for no change to occur. I just posted to my story- but I will also put this on the grid. • I have been trying to do an Instagram live twice a week. Sunday and Wednesday I hop on for about an hour and work on some weaving or fiber activity. Sometimes I take and answer questions, other times I am wrapped up in what I’m going and just offer you a look into what happens during the weaving process. • I am going to post a question box in my story today to gather up topics to talk about today. Who complimented my organic red strawberries. 🍓 I thought they looked especially good for not being quite in season. 🍓 He said he thought so too, and apparently that means a lot - since he’s colorblind. 👁️ What kind? The red-green kind. 🟥🟩 His father was as well, and was rejected when he tried to join the @usairforce. Because he couldn’t see red lights and without red lights he couldn’t fly a plane. ✈️ So he joined the @usarmy. 🇺🇸 I was only buying 3 items yesterday, 2 bags of frozen corn and those strawberries. 🌽🌽 And yet, look how much I learned. 🫶 The exchange would have ended after he said he was colorblind. But I happened to ask what type of colorblind. Since my dad is an ophthalmologist, I know there’s more than one kind. 👓 There’s actually three primary, but several types of colorblindness. I was curious. So I asked. Today The NEW School Students had the opportunity to visit the provincial Legislative Assembly at Queen’s Park and learn first hand how laws are formed, what jurisdiction the provincial government has and exactly how the provincial house runs. Our students are encouraged to question everything and ask many questions! Students toured Ontario’s Parliament and participated in a series of engaging activities that related to key concepts of the civics curriculum. They visited the Legislative Chamber, were given a tour of the Legislative Building, and participated in a mock House in Session including some dress up! It’s important for our future leaders to know about government systems, to understand who to reach out to and how changes are made and voices can be heard. Youth Mental Health group @reachout_aus released research this week on ‘What Parents Worry About’. 59% of parents surveyed said they were concerned about social media use & the impact it has on mental health. 35% ranked the use of digital media platforms as their top concern. By contrast, young people ranked the cost of living, loneliness and study stress as their top 3 concerns in a 2022 study. Of those surveyed, 57% of young people said they spend time on social media to help cope with their concerns& worries.
