Courtney & Hole were interviewed before the show by Christian Fuchs. Courtney was painting her toe nails mid interview and talking about Kurt (Cobain) and how she desperately wanted to see him again. At the time of this interview, Kurt was in Edinburgh, Scotland performing with Nirvana at Calton Studios. 6 days prior to this interview, Hole opened for Nirvana in Ghent, Belgium at Vooruit. Courtney, Eric, and Jill can be seen in footage from Nirvana’s set that night. — Christian Fuchs: “You seem to have a great connection with Nirvana.” CL: “We played with them in Belgium and we destroyed the entire backline. The promoter faxed them a message later saying; ‘You and Hole are like children. You’re wasting your career. You immature babies should not be allowed to play rock music and throw sausages at the audience.’” Christian Fuchs: “How is it for a band like Hole living in Hollywood?” CL: “It’s psychotic. The last time we played in LA we had Axl Rose in our dressing room, saying, ‘you girls are great’. It’s really terrifying. At the same time it’s cool. Like Axl wears one of our shirts, and he doesn’t even know he’s wearing the shirt of the enemy. I’m into that.” The LA show Courtney is referencing was at The Palace on October 27th, 1991. 9 gennaio 1963 Nasce a Los Angeles Eric Theodore Erlandson, è un chitarrista e compositore statunitense. Dal 1989 al 2002 è stato chitarrista e autore del gruppo alternative rock delle Hole. Insieme a Courtney Love e Lisa Roberts ha fondato la band, incidendo nel 1991 il primo disco Pretty on the Inside con una nuova line up formata dalla nuova bassista Jill Emery e dalla batterista Caroline Rue. Successivamente la Rue e la Emery lasciarono il gruppo sostituite rispettivamente da Patty Schemel e Kristen Pfaff. Nel periodo 1996-1997 durante il periodo sabbatico delle Hole ha partecipato ad un progetto pararallelo, formando un gruppo rock chiamato Rodney & the Tube Tops terminato poco dopo, di cui faceva parte anche Thurston Moore dei Sonic Youth, realizzando il singolo I Hate the 90's. Nel 2002, a seguito dello scioglimento del suo gruppo storico, Erlandson ha collaborato con altri artisti, scrivendo brani con l'attrice Bijou Phillips e suonando la chitarra nel brano Would If I Could nell'album d'esordio da solista Auf der Maur (2004) di Melissa Auf der Maur. Ha suonato con Vincent Gallo nel progetto di rock sperimentale chiamato RRIICCEE (2007). Nonostante la più volte annunciata reunion della band non si sia concretizzata, nell'aprile del 2012 Courtney Love ha raggiunto Erlandson, Melissa Auf der Maur e Patty Schemel sul palco, in occasione della presentazione del documentario della Schemel Hit So Hard. La band ha suonato due brani Miss World dall'album Live Through This e Over the Edge, una cover dei The Wipers. Hole Formed In 1989 In Los Angeles, California When Frontwoman/Guitarist Courtney Love, After Years Of Fruitless Attempts At Forming Bands, Bought Her Neighbor Lisa Roberts A Bass & Posted An Advertisement In A Local Paper Stating: "I Want To Start A Band. My Influences Are Big Black, Sonic Youth, & Fleetwood Mac." Lead Guitarist Eric Erlandson, Along With Over A Dozen Other Musicians, Answered The Ad. Love Later Said That She Knew Eric Was "The One" As Soon As They Met, & That He Had A "Thurston Moore Quality About Him" That She Liked. It Wasn't Until Courtney Love & Eric Erlandson Heard Mudhoney's 1988 Song "Touch Me I'm Sick" That They Began To Think About Taking The Band To The Next Level. Hole Had Previously Released 2 Singles, "Retard Girl" On Sympathy For The Record Industry & "Dicknail" On Sub Pop Records. According To Love, She Had Initially Wanted To Release The Album On Sympathy for the Record Industry, But Was "Talked Into" Signing On With Caroline Records. After Signing, Love Sought Sonic Youth Bassist Kim Gordon To Produce The Album. Gordon Agreed On The Condition That Her Friend, Gumball Frontman Don Fleming, Assist. The Band Entered Music Box Studios In Hollywood In Los Angeles, California With Gordon & Don Fleming In March 1991, & Worked On The Album For 1 Week; The Songs Were Recorded Over A Period Of 4 Days, & Were Mixed Over The Course Of A Further 3 Days.
