My Target was: Messier 104 This is a cropped image of M104 The image is 20 x 180s RGB subs Antlia RGB filters RGB Palette The Set up.... Location – my Bortle 8 backyard Celestron CGX-L mount and the Sky-Watcher EvoStar 150DX refactor with the standard Sky-Watcher 0.77 reducer/flattener (924mm focal length at F/6.2). The imaging camera was the ZWO 2600mm binned 2x2 with the Antlia RGB filters in the ZWO 7 position 2 inch filter wheel. The image scale was 87 by 58 arc-minutes with the image resolution of approximately 0.84 arc-seconds per pixel. The image was up-sampled to 1x1 resolution and drizzle x 1 with the PixInsight WBPP process. The camera gain was set to 100 with the offset at 30. The camera was cooled to 0 degrees C. The guiding was with the Stellarvue SV60ED (60mm aperture, 330 focal length at F/5.5) and the ZWO-174 mini. The images were captured with Sequence Generator Pro. Bias and flats were applied. The subs were stacked using the PixInsight Weighted Batch PreProcessing (WBPP) script. Processed with PixInsight and PhotoShop. It is estimated to contain around 500,000 stars, including at least 274 variable stars. M3 is one of the largest and brightest globular clusters in the sky. M3 was discovered by French astronomer Charles Messier in 1764, but he described it as a starless nebulosity. A Spiral Galaxy with a Strange Center. What's happening at the center of spiral galaxy M106? A swirling disk of stars and gas, M106's appearance is dominated by blue spiral arms and red dust lanes near the nucleus, as shown in the featured image. The core of M106 glows brightly in radio waves and X-rays where twin jets have been found running the length of the galaxy. An unusual central glow makes M106 one of the closest examples of the Seyfert class of galaxies, where vast amounts of glowing gas are thought to be falling into a central massive black hole. M106, also designated NGC 4258, is a relatively close 23.5 million light years away, spans 60 thousand light years across, and can be seen with a small telescope towards the constellation of the Hunting Dogs (Canes Venatici). MOON PHASES ⭐️ 3 years ago I spent a lot of time in April out with my telescope capturing the phases of the moon! I was blessed with clear skies for many days which meant I could photograph the moon consecutively to capture this image! I’m excited to share my latest capture of NGC2403, a gem in the vast expanse of the cosmos. This shot, my closest yet, showcases an abundance of red hydrogen alpha detailing, a testament to over 9 hours of exposures and the clarity afforded by my Celestron C11 over two nights. Residing in the constellation Camelopardalis, NGC2403 is a spiral galaxy that’s part of the M81 Group. At about 8 million light-years away, it’s relatively close in cosmic terms, allowing us a clearer view of its structure. This galaxy stretches over 50,000 light-years, hosting billions of stars, including many young, hot supergiants marked by the red hues of their hydrogen alpha emissions. The grandeur of NGC2403 is not just in its scale but in the details, which reveal the fiery processes of star formation. As we peer into this distant galaxy, we’re given a rare chance to witness the building blocks of the universe arranging themselves into a familiar spiral dance. My Target was: Messier 90 This is a cropped image of M90 The image is 20 x 180s RGB subs Antlia RGB filters RGB Palette The Set up.... Location – my Bortle 8 backyard Celestron CGX-L mount and the Sky-Watcher EvoStar 150DX refactor with the standard Sky-Watcher 0.77 reducer/flattener (924mm focal length at F/6.2). The imaging camera was the ZWO 2600mm binned 2x2 with the Antlia RGB filters in the ZWO 7 position 2 inch filter wheel. The image scale was 87 by 58 arc-minutes with the image resolution of approximately 0.84 arc-seconds per pixel. The image was up-sampled to 1x1 resolution and drizzle x 1 with the PixInsight WBPP process. The camera gain was set to 100 with the offset at 30. The camera was cooled to 0 degrees C. The guiding was with the Stellarvue SV60ED (60mm aperture, 330 focal length at F/5.5) and the ZWO-174 mini. The images were captured with Sequence Generator Pro. Bias and flats were applied. The subs were stacked using the PixInsight Weighted Batch PreProcessing (WBPP) script. Processed with PixInsight and PhotoShop.
