📚 ARC Review - Midnight of Ashes 📚 Book 2 - Dragons of Ember Hollow By: @tessahalewrites ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/ 🌶️🌶️ Midnight of Ashes is book two in Tessa Hale’s Dragon’s of Ember Hollow trilogy. It’s a quick, easy, spicy, fun read. MOA starts up right where book one left us hanging and we’re thrown right into the story with anxiety inducing tension and although the anxiety ebbs and flows Tessa keeps the tension going throughout the book. Because of the opening events, Easton is starting to come around to the inevitable. Although, I want to say he’s grovelling, it’s more he’s making it up to Hayden for being an asshole. What I loved about this is that Hayden doesn’t want him to grovel (as so many fmcs would) she understands where he’s coming from and the why of his actions. She’s just looking for him to demonstrate his involvement is for the right reason. I really love her continued maturity. Other than Easton, there are some full matings, which come with some excellently spicy scenes. just waiting on Maddox, the lone holdout. Honestly, the best thing about MOA is that it felt like a well balanced novel. There was a healthy amount of spice (but not so much that Hayden felt like she was on her back 80% of the time), some nice character/relationship development, and a fair amount of plot throughout the whole book. It was well paced and although we were once again left on a cliffhanger (shakes fist at Tessa), the events happened throughout book and not just at the end. Finally, I’m really enjoying Wren - her only school friend. From the little bits that have been thrown in, I really hope her story is next. I bet it’s a doozy. I really enjoyed Midnight of Ashes and I can’t wait to dive into book three to get my answers. Today, on the tennis court, I received an unexpected gift: three fresh tennis balls from a kind lady and her spouse, meanwhile, my tennis ball had fallen into the muddy water at the back of the tennis board and had lost it's fresh bounce. Three of anything means something: for me, it's a message of complete synergy of past, present, and future happenings, therefore, an open gateway to new beginnings. Feeling that kind gesture as a connection, it prompted me to share this experience as a post. As the couple played nearby, I listened to their conversation. It was filled with healthy validation and sharing of fond memories with each other. The male spouse celebrated his spouse's swings, and their conversations tossed back and forth, while intimately. So, the lesson of the day? Find a friend, a fellow player, someone to share life’s mysteries with over weekly matches. Gal or guy, the court becomes our confessional. Earlier in the day, I also glimpsed two retired senior women—best friends, whom I had remembered from previous encounters. They belted out laughter to the wind, a testament to enduring bonds.
