I primi lavori di Cousins rivelano il suo interesse e la sua esplorazione della natura e della sessualità, e la linea sottile e precaria in cui, per un breve momento, fiori, cibo e corpi sono al culmine della loro maturazione. Attraverso primi piani dai colori vivaci di frutta, petali, bucce e insetti ricoperti di liquidi lucidi, le opere celebrano la gioia e la bellezza tra attrazione e repulsione. Nel lavoro più recente di Cousins, il cibo appiccicoso in decomposizione e i fiori sono ora sostituiti da mini maialini di plastica, dolci bolliti o una palla rimbalzante dai colori vivaci. Le week-end de Pâques, les vacances scolaires ou l'algorithme d'Instagram en berne, m'ont ajouté des bâtons dans les roues alors même que j'ai reçu de très bons retours (merci 🙏🏻). 🎯 grâce aux amateurs•trices d'art ont choisi de me soutenir cette année, j'ai d'ors et déjà assuré un revenu mensuel de 400 euros/mois. This is a photo that forms part of a series, or at least connected series, I started around 15 years ago. The earliest photographs of the series initially started more as studies for installations and sculptures that I was working on over a period of about 3 years. I have many bodies of photography that are often interlinked in some way that I have not exhibited and which run right through the heart of my creative practice since it’s inception. They were often ways of working through and around ideas I thought should be completed/ realised in three dimensional form. Essential as they were to me and photography has been a consistently essential form of expression and creative exploration in my practice, I saw them more often as work in progress. Most of my photography explores space and psychological space is at the forefront of my investigations, some are portraits and self portraits. . The more I look at some of these photographic studies the more I realise they are every bit as important to me as my three dimensional work and the more formal abstract landscape photography series I’ve been working on predominantly over the last 4 years as well as those in the past. So I want to start pulling some of these photographs/ series out into the light, here and on my website which thus far has only shown a very limited selection of projects so is in need of expanding and updating .Some will form part of future exhibitions, self published zines and books and limited edition prints. .
