I made the trip to this rather magical and eerie place today. Twlc y Filiast is a Neolithic chambered tomb in West Wales, it’s top is toppled and leaning. It sits in a primeval glade with a peaty stream tumbling past. Also known as the Kennel of the Greyhound Bitch or Arthur’s Table it feels very atmospheric. It was raining hard which also added to the primeval feeling of the heavy moss coatings and lichens. Pudo estar habitado sobre el 3100 ac. Fuimos con una excursión desde Londres,y aunque no es barata ,vale muchísimo la pena.Puedes hacerla por tu cuenta pero se necesita más tiempo,así que esa fue nuestra opción. Maen Ceti – King Arthur’s Stone – Wales This stunning neolithic cromlech sits on the ancient ridge way of Cefn Bryn. It’s capstone is split, with the broken half lying next to it. This is a site steeped in legend.. Old tales say that on certain nights - particularly Midsummer's Eve and All Hallow's Eve, Maen Ceti gets up and goes to the sea to drink and bathe. Before once again returning to it’s perch of its own free will. At midnight, when the moon was full, young maidens would test the fidelity of the men they loved by offering the stone a cake baked from Barley meal and honey wetted with milk. They would place the cake in the spring, then circle the stone three times on their hands and knees, knowing that if the man they loved appeared before they finished their final circuit, he would make a faithful husband. The following is from Tales of the Cymry by James Motley, written in 1848: “A species of divination is still practised at Arthurstone, by the neighbouring rustic maidens, who have little idea that they are perpetuating (perverted indeed in its object,) the rites of Druidism and the mysteries of Eleusis in their propitiatory offering. At midnight of the full moon, if a maiden deposit in the sacred well beneath, a cake of milk, honey, and barley meal, and then on hands and knees crawl three times round the cromlech, she will see, if "fancy free," the vision of her future husband; if her affections are engaged, the form of the favoured youth will stand before her, fearfully bound to answer truly her questions as to his sincerity.” There are also many old tales that tell of how the capstone was supposedly broken.. One says that the stone was broken when St. David struck it with his sword in order to prove that it was not sacred. A parte de los innumerables vestigios que aquí se encuentran, el entorno es realmente espectacular, la ruta está bien señalizada y es fácil de recorrer. 🌼 🌼🌼Los tres elementos más representativos son el Crómlech, la PIEDRA OSCILANTE y la piedra de los SACRIFICIOS, también hay pequeños dólmenes y varios menhires, pero lo que más nos ha sorprendido son las enormes piedras con formas de animales que hemos hallado fuera de los caminos señalizados. Die bekannteste Anlage ist wohl Stonehenge in England. Die komplexe Anlage von Stonehenge mit mehreren Steinsetzungen, Gräben, Wällen und Palisaden entstand von der Steinzeit bis zur Bronzezeit zwischen etwa 3.000 und 1.600 v. Chr. Damit ist Stonehenge eher jung. Die ältesten Megalithen (vom griechischen Wort für „großer Stein“) in der Bretagne standen bei seinem Baubeginn bereits circa 2.000 Jahre. 🤯 Abgesehen von den Großsteingräbern und den jüngeren Schiffssetzungen, bei denen die Steine in Schiffsform angeordnet sind, ist nicht geklärt, wozu die Steinsetzungen eigentlich genau dienten. In Stonehenge weisen archäologische Funde auf eine Nutzung im Rahmen eines Totenkults hin. Dieser Zusammenhang lässt sich aber längst nicht für alle Megalithanlagen nachweisen.
