So…like all of us I have limited time—if I’m drawing, I’m not knitting, if I’m reading a novel@im not drawing or knitting—I’m project driven and like to complete something or I feel guilty. So…here is what I have been working on! My niece turned 18 in December and so I spent last year knitting her this Afghan—it wasn’t done in time and I always just able to get this to her along with a cute sun to go with it—for the days when things are lonely and hard at college. I was really proud of both of these—though you experience knitters might not think they are all that impressive! The sun is a pattern I cobbled together from other patterns to make something new. So I was pretty pleased with myself for that one. And the little button on the Afghan is a signature button. The pattern was slightly adapted from an Annie’s Craft club that no longer Niger is available as a knitting project. And knitting with black yarn is a gigantic pain in the ass. My 20 year cardigan. I pride myself on finishing all my projects but this one, with the pieces complete and ends mostly woven in ( that is big!), this one kept getting pushed to the bottom of the pile. The reasons were varied. I remember I went through a phase of denouncing all drop shoulder knits, and for the most part this is still true. Then there was the time deficit phase, the “I have completely forgotten about it” era, the “ how would this look as couch cushions” moment, the “ I only want to knit in lighter wool” which preceded the “I’m too hot for sweaters” phase ( that one was fun) until well, here we are. I “only” had the collar and edging and sewing together to do. Which took much longer than anticipated this winter…. and lastly the buttons. The pattern photos featured these amazing glass buttons which I’m sure were discontinued, along with this Alice Starmore Shetland Wool. So I made my own Millefiori ones with @sculpey_official , and some wire for the loop. This is Fort Ross by Jade Starmore, one of her earlier designs. I had a hard time photographing the rich colours; they look a little flatter than irl and I resorted to filters to bump it up, with partial success. I may rename this one Finally. And in the end I’m feeling pretty darn good about it.

Hey guys, how's it going so far? Me? I'd say I'm doing okay at the moment. Throughout this week, it's been somewhat interesting, I managed to complete the main story of this one Nintendo DS game I haven't played in years to somewhat prepare myself for one of the upcoming games in the coming months (specifically, the "Super Princess Peach" game that I believed was lost all this time, until recently). I also managed to get through the last three days of working at my current job here in town, where at least one of those days was not one of my better days while the rest of them were mostly okay. I'm just happy for the fact that I've been able to take it easy a little bit & recover from the hardships of being a somewhat working man afterwards. Though above all that, the one thing that's really been something, is the weather here in Big Spring. That's right, today we've been having a rather icy day where the temperature was around the mid-20s, to even below that 20 mark, and while we didn't really have much actual ice today, I am mostly sure on the idea that there was some icy rubble around one of the intersections while I was driving with my grandfather today, so as someone who cares about other people's safety, I urge you to be careful out there, even in places that are NOT so cold like they currently are here. So anyway, that's how I've been doing this past week, I know it's not much, but that's how I spent it while I was waiting on the reinstalling of ALL the games on my "Nintendo Switch" console after getting a new microsd card (well maybe not ALL of them per say, but it still took a long time). The essence of your soul, your Sage, your center. That center is enclosed with a brass ring, representing what we do to keep that soul fire alive. The next delicious layer and explosion of color represents the creativity inside of us all. The next ring represents the rock walls that we put up to keep others out… and the ring of slate, prickly and pointed like a barbed wire fence. Another coping mechanism. Well, it's almost the end of the month right now, and soon enough, the new month of October will be popping up before we know it. Anyone got any plans yet for next month? But anyways, I don't really have any major plans for October just yet, though I do have some hopes of pulling off some big stuff after I get some "certain things" taken care of first, but otherwise, I just hope I can do more posting than I have been as of late. Speaking of which, I'm sorry I haven't been doing as much on here as I could be, I've been rather distracted lately, on a related note, you know that "The Legend of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom" game that I said I've been getting close to finishing? Well guess what? I finally finished it! Took me over two months, but I finally did it. So now that's one problem I no longer have to worry about. Another one is getting some of my priorities back in order so I can get back on track of certain things, and to be honest, it's been rather hard, but I'll get there, so long as I keep pushing myself to do so. So anyway, tomorrow's going to be rather bittersweet, because it'll be the birthday of a special loved one of mine who passed away not too long ago. It'll be quite an emotional day for many of us in a very sad way, so therefore, I will not be looking forward to it. Another fair highlight I started this cross stitch in 1999, when we had newly moved to New Hampshire and the pattern just spoke to me. It was my husband and me, two dogs and a cat. I thought it would be pleasant to have this on the wall some day. I finished it this year. Five kids and two homes later, we have a farm and a flock of sheep. Four dogs, three cats, chickens, and a ferret. I don’t need the ribbons to feel pride in my journey. Every time I look at this piece I’m reminded of the good times, the hard times, and the power of perseverance. It’s a story too long to tell briefly.
