Morgon Côte du Py, Jean Foillard, 2022 🇫🇷 Här kommer ett hypat vin 🙌 så hypat att när det släpptes i TS för två dagar sedan så stod jag och hängde på låset på systembolaget och när dörrarna öppnades så dröjde det inte mer än 30 sekunder (skojar inte!) så var hyllan tom! Galet… och vad är grejen?? Varför så hypat? Dels tror jag det handlar om att detta är ett vin det skrivits om mycket från olika håll och kanter och så är Beaujolais väldigt poppis och druvan gamay supertrendig 💥🍇 men inte är väl det så konstigt med tanke på att det är GOTT! Druvan gamay är en av mina absoluta favoriter 🙌 Gamay är en blå druva man hittar främst i Beaujolais i södra Bourgogne. Druvans fullständiga namn är ’Gamay noir à jus blanc’ som översätts till: svart druva med vit juice. Det beskriver druvan väl då den har ett väldigt mörkt tunt skal och ljust kött. Druvan ger fruktiga viner med inslag av röda bär som jordgubbar och körsbär, ofta lite josiga i stilen, har mjuka tanniner och relativt hög syra 🍓🍒 Här har vi ett vin från den välkända Jean Foillard som har producerat vin i byn Morgon sedan 1982. Morgon är ett av tio Crus (vingårdslägen) i området. 🥁 Imorrn fredag är dags för årets släpp av: 🍷2022 Côte du Py, Jean Foillard 100% Gamay, art nr 95239, 341:- 🍇 Druvorna kommer från de numera välkända odlingslägena på ‘Côte du Py’. Hos @jean_foillard vinifieras alla viner på precis samma sätt, helt utan tillsatser. Som de alltid gjort. En av anledningarna att årgången alltid har ett tydligt avtryck i hans viner. Manuell skörd i små backar, för att se till att klasarna håller ihop så mycket som möjligt, och att druvorna är hela. Maceration carbonique på tank sker så långt det är passande för årgången, men normalt ca 2-3 veckor. Varma årgångar blir oftast något kortare, som t ex 2022, för att se till att hålla nere volatila syror. Efter pressning jäser vinet klart, lagras sen vidare på använda ekfat om 228 liter. Normalt sett så buteljerar man under sommaren efter skörd. Utan klarning eller filtrering med en ytterst liten skvätt svavel. 2022 är en årgång med en bra blandning av allt. Ungefär lika delar kraft, frukt, struktur och som alltid en pigg syra och fräschör. Jeans Côte du Py är alltid god att dricka direkt när den släpps. Lufta den gärna ordentligt och servera sval. Detta är också verkligen en årgång som kommer att bli en väldigt fin utväxling med antal års lagring!...eller ett decennium... PS. Here's what he thought of our 2022 Wismer-Foxcroft Gamay Noir: Bachelder Wismer-Foxcroft Gamay Noir 2022 ($33, 94 points) — On to the Twenty Mile Bench, from a vineyard with pedigree and a favourite of Bachelder for all the varieties he makes. “This wine, vinified with 34% whole grape clusters, is the more closed, and the more structured of all our Gamay Noir Crus,” says Bachedler. “We find the use of 33% whole cluster speaks a little more clearly to us about its gravelly, iron-tinged magnesium oxide soil origins, and since the taste of the land is what we are all about, we are so happy to work with Wismer-Foxcroft – not least for the contrast it underlines between the Twenty Mile Bench VQA (Vineland side), and the beautiful, more lush propositions coming out of the Niagara-on-the-Lake terroir parcels.” For my palate, this is the top of the class of this year’s release, with everything I like about more serious Gamays happening in this wine. It’s a perfectly balanced, elegant Gamay with an enticing nose of soft red berries, blueberries, plums, cherries jubilee, gravelly/flinty notes, minty herbs, just a tinge of earthy/savoury accents and integrated spices.
