I was fortunate enough to taste Meg's Cab for the first time in December. I enjoyed it then, and revisiting, I am still a fan! When she opened this during the podcast, I was going to ask, "How does one go about making a lighter Cab, and getting under 13% is unheard of for a Cab?" I am pretty sure Meg can read people's minds because before I could get the question out, she was already answering how she picked this early on purpose to make a softer expression leading to a lower alcohol Cab. Ich habe so hart gearbeitet, um diese Flasche in meinem Weinkeller zu finden, dass ich davon Lendenschmerzen bekam. Goldene Farbe mit einem leichten Orangeton. Die Nase ist sehr nussig, feuchtes Holz, Humus, Mango und Petrol. Ein reiches Aroma, das an Brandy oder Shaoxing Wein erinnert. Fleischige Frucht mit weichem und süßem Geschmack. Die für 2010 typische Säure ist gut ausgedehnt und scharf. Die Mineralität ist relativ schwer, was den lehmigen Boden widerspiegelt, während er auf der Zunge wie eine Rohrdommel prickelt. Nach 13 Jahren in der Flasche hat er ein gutes Gefühl von Einheit, aber die Säure ist hervorragend. Er passt gut zu einem Carpaccio vom Gelbschwanz nach japanischer Art. She’s found solis in working for her mom, baking, and making candles. That’s until the hot new 30 something year old, Thayer, moves next door. When Thayer needs a babysitter for his son, Forrest, he asks Salem and she’s excited about the opportunity to earn some extra money. Salem slowly starts falling in love with both Thayer and Forrest, but will the age gap keep them from being together? This book has come recommended and has been on my TBR for a while. Once I read 11:11 by Micalea, I knew I had to read some of her other work. I was not disappointed with this one, that’s for sure. I think a lot of us have been in a position where we think the older neighbor or dad is hot, but would we ever take it that far? Salem is such a relatable character and the banter between her and grumpy Thayer causes laughs here and there. Macalea is great at writing real life/world challenges and how people can/do overcome them. That’s one of my favorite things about her writing tbh. There was a major turn of events that I didn’t expect, which is why I didn’t give it a full 5 ⭐️, however, I’ll for sure be reaching some of her others in this series. “Whatever this is, whatever we become, if we grow and flourish like the wildflowers behind our houses, or crash and burn, it won’t matter because when I’m old and gray, lying in bed thinking about my life, he’ll be the best part. 🍷 Wildflower Valdiguié | @jlohrwines I chose this wine because, obviously, the wildflowers. G-day, my name is Tim Lefel and I am local from out in the Yarra Valley. Before Viticulture, I spent 10 years being a chef. I hit a spot in 2019 where I was burnt out. I spoke to a friend saying I need a new job. The same day Andrew Smith asked the same friend if he knew anyone looking for work. Soo you could say it was by chance. I took the leap and haven’t looked back. I currently am a fair chunk into studying a Bachelor of Viticulture at Charles Sturt University. Uni is a great way to meet others in the industry, and socialise with others over a glass of wine or two. I currently work at Yarra Yering in the Vineyard. It’s amazing watching dry grown vines find what they need old and new. Outside of that I love long distance running, a splash of photography, rocking out my drum kits to my neighbours enjoyment and spending time with the wife and dog. I enjoy working in the area I grew up, living life a bit slower than the hustle and bustle that I used to encounter in my previous career life. Some days putting some music in and sitting back as you drive through the vineyard doing the spray run.
After our storms, I cleaned up under our Tempranillo vines, fed it with some earthworm castings, and added a fresh layer of Texas top soil. These vines are year 3. We have been working hard, granted there are only 8 of them, but we have learned a ton through conversations with our winery and vineyard friends and our friends at @12fireswinery .
