The novel is written in 1931 and set in 2540 CE, which is identified as the year AF 632. AF stands for “After Ford,” as Henry Ford’s assembly line is revered as god-like; this era began when Ford introduced his Model T car. If you don't know the book..... The novel examines a futuristic society called the World State that revolves around science and efficiency. In this society, emotions and individuality are conditioned out of children at a young age, and there are no lasting relationships because “every one belongs to everyone else”. Artificial Intelligence was already presented by Huxley in 1931. Brave New World shows the work of 16 painters under 40, each of them looking at the world from a different perspective like Aldous Huxley imagined his future world. MEET THE ARTIST - Melike Kara (1985, Duitsland) haar werk is sterk geworteld in haar familiegeschiedenis. Haar roots zijn Koerdisch, maar zelf groeide ze op in Duitsland. De patronen die ze op haar schilderijen gebruikt zijn afgeleid van de motieven op Koerdische tapijten. Een ander belangrijk onderdeel van haar werk is het fotobehang. The mosaic shows many different figures composed by @erikvanlieshoutstudio, the volunteers and gardeners. Made within the frame of ‘Minskip”, which is Fysian for community for @paradys2022. De Nederlandse provincie Flevoland herbergt een unieke collectie land art. Tijdens het jaarlijkse Land Art Weekend (4 - 5 juni 2022) zetten zij de negen land art monumenten van de polder in de schijnwerpers. Van 1994 tot 2000 kon je op de dijk tussen Enkhuizen en Lelystad je autoradio afstemmen op Fm 98,0 MHz, op ‘de Engelenzender’ en werd in 2019 nieuw leven ingeblazen. Moniek Toebosch ontwierp het werk, dat officieel Engelen/Angels FM 98.0 heet. De Van der Leeuw Stichting vroeg zeven kunstenaars om eigentijdse schuilplaatsen te maken; Toebosch zag de auto bij uitstek als toevluchtsoord waarin mensen zich konden afzonderen op weg van huis naar werk en terug. Op de borden die de radiofrequentie of de app aankondigen na, is het kunstwerk nagenoeg onzichtbaar. Toch weet Toebosch de hele autocabine te vullen met haar hemelse klanken, 26 km lang. Hij is een van de weinige kunstcritici die pijnpunten in de kunst durft aan te kaarten en een duidelijk standpunt niet schuwt (English ⤵️). Hij publiceerde meer dan tien boeken, zowel monografische publicaties als essays, over de rol van kunst, werkt als kunstcriticus en schrijver voor NRC, Artforum en AVRO Kunstuur en sinds een decennium stelt hij ook tentoonstellingen samen. Voor Museum de Fundatie in Zwolle maakte hij verschillende thematische tentoonstellingen zoals Meer licht (2010), Meer macht (2014), Zie de Mens (2016) en Vrijheid (2019). En in 2020 was hij artistiek leider van de tentoonstelling Into Nature in Drenthe. He is one of the few art critics who dares to bring up painful issues in art and is not afraid to take a clear stand. He has published more than ten books – both monographic publications and essays – on the role of art, works as an art critic and writer for NRC, Artforum and AVRO Kunstuur, and for the past decade has also curated exhibitions. For Museum de Fundatie in Zwolle, Den Hartog Jager curated several thematic exhibitions, including More Light (2010), More Power (2014), See the Man (2016) and Freedom (2019). In 2020, he was artistic director for the exhibition Into Nature in Drenthe. On Wednesday June 22, Slieker Film organises a special evening in occasion of Erik van Lieshout's participation in the group exhibition Paradys, on view at Oranjewoud until August 14, 2022. Oranjewoud is a classic idyll once landscaped by the Frisian Nassaus. For the group exhibition, Van Lieshout creates a flower mosaic and a film about the process. Such a mosaic is, in Van Lieshout's words, 'paradise', 'beauty' in the extreme, yet can also be viewed as 'tourism at its most ludicrous'. Van Lieshout spent several months in Oranjewoud to develop the work especially for the place. Writer, art historian and curator of Paradys Hans den Hartog Jager will enter into a dialogue with the artist and the public about Van Lieshout's unorthodox way of working and the idiosyncratic film he made about creating this flower mosaic. 'Paradys' in Oranjewoud curated by Hans den Hartog Jager and 15 artists. We were very honored to join the festive opening and to admire the beautiful installation 'Harvest Recasted' by Diana Scherer. In September 2022 ROOF-A Gallery will present a solo exhibition with one of the three dresses. Especially for Paradys in Oranjewoud, Scherer grew three dresses for the three noble women who each left their own mark on the history of the estate. As if sprouting from the ground, the two and a half metre high dresses rise up in their protective display cases: one for the founder of the estate, Albertine Agnes van Nassau (1634-1694), one for her daughter-in-law Henriette Amalia van Anhalt-Dessau (1666-1726) and one for Maria Louise van Hessen-Kassel (1688-1765). -Cultural and natural patterns- The three women function as characters with which Scherer makes the various historical layers and characters of Oranjewoud visible. In the patterns she designed, themes appropriate to their roles can be recognised.
