We had a great time back at the Hansel and Gretel pancake house and play park for dinner yesterday. We joined the children in exploring the new additions to the outdoor play area including a new haunted house, water play area and wooden obstacle course. We couldn’t resist the homemade Dutch apple pie after the scent hit us as we walked through the door! And it was fun watching the kids going down the secret passages to get to the underground play area-a most unique way to get to the toilets! An added bonus was seeing the tulip fields just down from Hansel and Gretel. This is a brilliant place to visit for the day, half day or as a pitstop en route to one of our featured parks! We (Laura and family) enjoyed a few hours at Speelland (Beekse Bergen) today, playing on the beach and going on the little boats and the trampolines. This is a fab place for little ones but also for older children too. My children (9 and nearly 8) spent ages playing in the water and trying to get across the wooden obstacles without falling in! Beekse Bergen is a brilliant place for a family holiday with so much to offer on the Lake Resort, Safari Resort, Safari Park and Speelland, and access to all of this is included in your stay. One of the highlights of our stay on the island of Texel in the Netherlands is visiting the Schapenboerderij Texel. 🇳🇱 It might not have been the sunniest of days but our visit to Zaanse Schans yesterday was really enjoyable. Walking amongst the traditional homes (some are still lived in) and working windmills was quite the sight. You can pay to visit the windmills or take a boat trip. For us, we chose to walk along the path on the water to take in the impressive view at our own pace. If you walk almost to the end of the row of windmills you will discover a traditional building which houses a very reasonably priced cafe. Perfect for a hot drink, toasties or some noodles. You can also visit a cheese museum, clog makers, cocoa exhibition and Albert Heijn’s first grocery store. Not bad for one location! Niederlande Part I 💐🩷🌾🌸 Immer wieder fahren wir in die Niederlande, es gibt so viele schöne Ecken hier. Dieses Jahr waren wir in Callantsoog. Genächtigt haben wir beim „Camping de Zeemann“- super kleiner Platz nahezu direkt an den Dünen. Lange Spaziergänge und leckeres Essen, das gefällt uns. 🤭 Am Samstag haben wir aufgrund des schlechten Wetter‘s eine kleine Stadttour durch #alkmaar gemacht.
