April was C-Section awareness month and coincidentally the month I get to celebrate the birth of both my sons, both born via Cesarean 🥰 I'm incredibly grateful for the amazing midwives, surgeons, anesthetists, doctors and nurses who cared after me during my time in hospital. Having an emergency C-Section isn't fun. When Jesse's heart rate plummeted one of the midwives pressed a button on the wall and within seconds there was about 20 people in the room and I was getting poked and prodded ready to go to theatre. I was so scared and nobody was telling me anything. I looked at Matt and he just looked petrified. For about 10 minutes my entire life just stopped. Until someone whispered in my ear (I still dont even know who this was but I picture them in my head as my guardian angel 💙) 'he's ok - they've found a heart beat" I'm so incredibly grateful that these medical professionals (who definitely dont get enough recognition in my opinion) delivered him safetly into our arms. Finley was just a stubborn bugger who didn't want to come out 🤣 made worse by the fact Matt wasn't able to stay in hospital with me as it was the height of a global pandemic lockdown 🤦♀️ Trying to care for a baby while recovering from a C-Section and not having your partner there for support is just a whole other traumatic story that I won't bore you with the details of 😅 But no, a C-Section is definitely NOT. Edinburgh bound with my little stowaway 🤍 24(+4) weeks of growing our littlest button. I know I have been very quiet on here and about this pregnancy and that is for a multitude of reasons, being pregnant with a toddler wow no one prepares you (I am very grateful that Odin is such a superstar -most of the time). Working full time and having a hubby works offshore has just proven I have little time. On top of all of that, this time round for obvious reasons I have been so much protective of buba, the muma bear that Odin created has been in full swing. My health and the boys have been my full focus, I have also been enjoying this pregnancy as much as I can, even though it has been very tough, we know this is our last pregnancy and last baby so I have found the things I took for granted first time round I am really appreciating this time. I want to thank everyone for the messages, well wishes and questions, both baby and I are healthy and being monitored VERY closely, forever in awe of the incredible team of NHS consultants and midwife’s looking after us. As we get closer to when Odin was delivered I am of course a bit more anxious but equally feel so safe and supported. So on Friday, after nearly 2.5 years on the waiting list, and a lifetime of feeling ‘different’ I was diagnosed with ADHD. (Combined type) Since being on the waiting list I’ve become more and more sure, but hearing it said, having officially confirmed finally, has brought on a wave of emotions. (After speaking to others, I expected the rollercoaster and it definitely came) 😂 I feel relief mostly. Bust also grief, frustration, pain, anger, joy, excitement, motivation. And probably most importantly… validation. I feel grief for ‘what could have been’. Would I have had more confidence? Had more help and understanding from the world around me? Could I have ‘done better’ academically? Perhaps it would have held me back even more, who knows. Would I have had more compassion for myself? Instead of letting self doubt take over. Letting others make me believe I was ‘less than’ because I didn’t always do things in the same way as them. I now feel validation for all the times I was judged, felt not worthy. I now know for certain my reactions, emotions, feelings, triggers, loves, passions are all just a part of me. Not wrong, no matter what I was made to believe or told about myself. They are VALID. For the teachers who saw my struggles as failing, and instead of helping me find a solution to my different way of thinking, learning, wrote me off or punished me leaving me with a feeling of why bother. Limiting beliefs? Let's get real... Everyone, every single person, deals with limiting beliefs. A thought or opinion which stops you from doing something or holds you back. This can be anything from your own skills to the types of people you want to work with. And this effects everything! Your productivity, your morale, your motivation and will hold you back in life and work. So how do we deal with those limiting beliefs? We need to recognise them, understand them and overcome them before its too late. Because when its too late, those limiting beliefs produce regrets. The best thing I've learnt about limiting beliefs? That they are just beliefs, thoughts and my own opinions, they are not hard facts. And therefore I can easily overcome them. And I did overcome them. I overcome them every day when I post something on my social media or speak to someone about the business or with my community 💜 I overcome them because I will NOT have them overcome me and my dreams. And in all honesty, overcoming limiting beliefs is one of the easiest things I've ever done, because it really isn't that hard to do once you put your mind to it 🤩 And if I can do that, then anyone can!
