She was recently seen in the off- Broadway play, Beholden (world premiere), and Lily in Alabama Story (Cape May Stage reading). I’m not saying it’s easy. often, it’s hard. and if you’re in any collaborative storytelling form (film, TV, theater) then you know it’s been a lot harder than usual the last few years. that means we need each other. that means the old way of individual achievement can’t be the only thing we hang our practice on. sometimes the work will be invisible. you will make things that people don’t see. to make one great script you throw out thousands of pages. but you learn from writing every single one. through it all, through all the ravages of capitalism & stupid showbiz, I believe in the power of craft: that if you make work that is beautifully crafted over and over and are diligent in finding the people who actually want to collaborate in bringing it into the world your work will reach people & move them. but not every single page you write. not every sketch you draw or song you compose because the point is to keep making. if the standard is that every thing has to be The Thing, you won’t ever make the things that are The Things. you have to make those fifty thousand paintings and in order to do that you have to be gentle with yourself and your work treat it as something holy and sacred know that you are practicing a craft that no one can ever fully master because creating true beauty is imitating god but we can get close. everything goes up and down. slings and arrows. “successes” and “failures.” just keep making. #screenwriting #actorwriter #indiefilm #writerdirector #theater #indiefilmmaking #indiefilmhustle #onset #tvwriting #artist

And… SCENE. 😭😭😭 Last night @r1vffwiz and I premiered the cut of Conditional we have been working relentlessly on for the past month. It was a culmination of all the stress and fun and terror and happy feelings that come with creating something really special. @r1vffwiz is a true artist and it was an honor to work so closely together to craft this film. It was an experience I will never forget. I am truly grateful for these past few months. I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again and again. I cannot express how honored and grateful I am to be having the World Premiere of Shredded the film in Ohio. Every time I look at this poster, designed by the amazing Zhen Wu, I am reminded of how human, and how connected we all are. When we talked with Zhen about the poster, she had this brilliant idea of the two “strangers” are looking away from one another, like they don’t understand each other or want the other to see them, but their souls (the reflection) and what they are going through, is reflected back at one another. There is truly nothing more human, or beautiful about that in my opinion. Even when we don’t open our hearts and share, the world reflects back to us what we are feeling and grieving. This film was co-written/co-produced by Adam and I, directed by Adam Michael, and has myself and Anthony Dain (Columbus, OH local) as lead actors. While escaping their respective lives, two strangers meet in a group surfing class and form a bond that helps them begin the process of healing. It is our hope that the conversations, stories, and struggles depicted on screen will both feel original and familiar. We have all struggled. We have all battled demons that we prefer to keep locked away or only express in quiet conversation. We wanted to rip off the band aid of pain and recovery to show people that they are not alone in how they feel.
