I often hear new moms express this sentiment during the early years of motherhood. Trust me, I've been there too. It's like we've placed all our interests and hobbies on a shelf, focusing solely on taking care of our kids. Finding time for ourselves, basic self-care, or even a moment of respite becomes a rare luxury. Meanwhile, our partners, not bearing the primary caregiving burden, seem to navigate their lives with more ease. They step out of the house, pursue their passions, meet friends, luxuriate in long showers, or spend what feels like eternity in the bathroom. Mothers have a unique knack for prioritizing everyone and everything else before themselves. These instances of constantly putting ourselves last gradually build up, forming a barrier of resentment towards our partners that can dampen our desire for physical intimacy and connection. We all deserve breaks, fathers and mothers alike, especially if you're the primary caregiver. Stand up, mamas, for your right to breaks and "me time." It's crucial not only for your well-being but also for nurturing your bond with your partner and enhancing your intimate life in the long run. Remember, taking care of yourself is not selfish—it's a necessary investment in your overall happiness and relationships. #mombreak #mamasupport #newmom #overworkedmom #tiredmom #takecareofyourself #momsdeservebreaks #partnersupport #communicationiskey #balanceinrelationship #newparents #newparentsupport #listenupdad #newdad #relationship101 #defaultparent #momwellness #consciousrelationships #parenthoodjourney #goodrelationship #relationshipstruggles #marriageafterbaby #intimacyafterbaby #lifeafterbaby #stressedmom #joyfulmothethood #momselfcare #lifewithababy

Let's start with... You're not broken mama! If seggs is the farthest thing from your mind during the first year postpartum, that is normal. If you can't wait to jump your partner's bones before you are "cleared", that is normal. There are so many variations of normal for postpartum mamas and none is right or wrong. There are SOOOO many changes that happen postpartum physically, mentally, emotionally, biologically, all the "llys" and this change can manifest itself in many different forms, wants, desires, needs, etc. So mama, you are normal if you want have to have seggs after you are "cleared" at 6weeks, that is perfectly fine. Let's normalize that this is a real thing! I know it's a tricky subject to discuss when we live in a "bounce back" world and where seggs is intimacy... I know for me, I was not ready for a while (plus we were scared of getting pregnant again and we're already so deep in survival mode with 2 under 2ish that seggs was off the table!) There are sooooo many other ways to be intimate with your partner though, you don't need to lose connection or become roommates (though it is also completely normal and happens and is perfectly fine because you can always change your priorities for the different seasons you are in! Had to throw that out there because again- so many variations of normal.) Have you ever tried laying next to each other and tried to sync your breath? You can also, hold hands, cuddle, light body touch, kind words, a meaningful deep conversation, share what each other is going through... What would you add? Enjoy, Sami #motherhoodunplugged #modernmom #momtips #postpartumsupport #postpartumjourney #intimacyafterbaby

•Intimacy after a having a baby• With the birth of a baby your whole life is changing. You are becoming more, creating a family with a new constellation, healing from the birth and growing into unknown roles. Mom & Dad. With all that the couple-part goes in the background. Psychologists talk about the „Roommate phase“. It’s s growing process with patience and understanding and It’s a chance to create new ways of intimacy. Such as that quick hug between changing diapers and feeding, that smile you give each other when baby falls asleep. „i make a bottle for you to feed him“, „go lay down, i take care of him“, „i‘m so in love with your mother/father“. Snuggles on a sunday morning in bed, laying in each others arms, feeling the heartbeat of your partner and the soft glimpse of sunshine on your skin. Even if its new, unknown, scary or different.. there is chance for new ways, growing, connecting and creating moments of a deeper love. ❤️‍🔥 #intimacyafterbaby #intimatestorytellers #documentaryphotography #storytelling #lookslikefilm #parenthood #couplephotography #sweetnsaucylove #loveandwildhearts

Rekindling Intimacy After Baby's Arrival 💑👶 After the beautiful chaos of welcoming your little one, you and your partner may wonder when it's time to rediscover intimacy. The timing varies for every couple. Some moms feel ready after their six week appointment, while others can't imagine the thought. Remember, there's no rush – your body needs time to heal. Listen to your body, and if you experience discomfort, it's perfectly okay to wait. Things may feel different and dryness can be common. And yes, you can get pregnant again, even before your period returns to normal. Make sure you are using contraception (best to discuss this with your doctor before giving birth).

Highly recommend this book, and if possible to start reading before you give birth! The second page really resonates for me, having had mastitis three times in quick succession. This book reminded me of the power that emotions can have on us on a physical level if not dealt with. I struggle to speak up in the moment and voice my resentments. Becoming a parent, especially for the first time is, in my opinion, one of the greatest and most challenging changes in circumstances that can occur in your life. Even from pregnancy, your relationship dynamic changes, how you relate or are intimate, also often your living situation alters, and your work- perhaps with the pregnant one moving to parttime work or stopping altogether, while the partner often increases their working hours. All of this can put a potential strain on the relationship. It’s easy to say that the solution always comes down to open and honest communication, but throw in sleep deprivation, financial worries, moving house, little time to connect, and that “easy solution” can feel impossible to have space for. I was very fortunate with my midwifery care @danacentrum as they offer so much more than standard care, even more than holistic care I’d say. They were just there for me in whatever way my partner and I needed, and for us that was often a neutral person to hear us in our relationship struggles during the pregnancy. It took some time to adjust, especially for my partner, but together and with all the support we got there, and I am incredibly grateful. If you are pregnant or postpartum but do not have access to this level of support from your midwife/team, I’d love to be that person for you. Often it’s as simple as just having someone who can hear you without judgment. #pregnancysupport #postpartumsupport #newparentsupport #timeforyou #timetoreconnect #intimacyafterbaby

Communication is key to a thriving s*x life. So many mothers carry the vast majority of both the cognitive and the physical load of the home and parenting. This is hard on relationships. This can be the seed for resentment to grow if this was not an agreed upon division of labor. Talk with your partner. Share your needs. Share your concerns. Share your wishes. Communication can help decrease resentment and actually change the division of labor and ultimately enhance intimacy and connection. Nourish the intimate connection with your partner.
