It’s been over a month since Isaiah has been home following his traumatic dirt bike accident on 3.13.2024 I travelled down to Atlanta on Thursday so I could be there for his carotid artery stent procedure. He and I stayed overnight in the hospital and then when he was discharged, Mark and I packed up the cars and brought Isaiah home for the night. He was SO EXCITED to see the dogs and spend the night at home. We got him setup in our guest bedroom because I didn’t want him having to go up and down the stairs following the femoral artery puncture for his stent. Huff slept in bed with him at his feet all night. Isaiah said it was the best sleep he’s had in a long time. We also got him the @raybanmeta AI sunglasses. Isaiah asks “Hey Meta, describe what I’m looking at.” And the glasses will fairly accurately describe back to him, in a discreet way (speakers in the glasses behind both ears). Morning bible study ... studying Isaiah and how God called him to speak truth. Telling the Israelites about Jesus made Isaiah quite "unpopular" but he continued to do it anyway. What a great example of how to keep our focus on Jesus! We aren't always gonna be "liked" especially when it means standing up for biblical truths... but in the end all that matters is how our Father feels about us. The Isaiah Strong 5K is so much more than just a run/walk event. If you joined us last year then I think you know what I’m talking about. The amount of love and eagerness to help was apparent throughout the day. My heart was absolutely overcome with joy and pride for the community of people that participated. From the runners, walkers, volunteers, the corn hole participants, family, friends, and vendors it truly was a team effort. And I can’t wait to do it again!!! Isaiah's first eye exam was a success. The best part about it is that his eye doctor is also a Type 1 Diabetic since she was 11. They were showing off eachothers pumps. Happy, healthy and down right perfect, just like God created him 💙💛 Isaiah is 6-months old and he is our little #heartwarrior - He is exactly what our family needed. We are now shining a little light and love as we embrace the DS community unconditionally. We are what they call “the lucky few” >>> Did you know: The typical person has 46 chromosomes and a person with Down syndrome has 47. Down syndrome is a genetic condition where an individual has 3 copies of the 21st chromosome. This extra genetic material changes how their bodies grow and learn. Our goal is to educate and promote acceptance and inclusivity for all individuals with Down syndrome and to let other families in the DS community see this and know that we are in this together.
