Needed the easiest everything in the worst way today. 😅 Felt exhausted all day, and I didn't even know why. Endurance run and a "recovery" ride. 😅😅 I say "recovery" because it was titled a recovery but felt a lot harder than recovery. I'm pretty sure I worked harder on this recovery ride than I did on my last ride with AT (which was not a recovery ride)! 😅 I wanted a nice and easy ride that was also fun. It was fun, don't get me wrong. But, it wasn't fast and flat like I expected and like I needed. Had every intention of getting in a nice run with the jogging stroller this morning since it was nice out. But our toddler woke up with a fever. 😢 Poor guy! He just wanted snugs today. So, I hit the Tread+ and got in an excellent "comfortably uncomfortable" run (though, dare I say, I might have been able to go a little quicker this morning. Second fastest and most challenging half marathon yesterday. I didn’t have a set goal for the race so decided to start with the 1:55 pacer and see what happens. I stayed with the group for the first 6 miles and then we approached the first trail section. I knew there would be some small gravel but the trail was no friend to my race day shoes. I changed my footing as I nearly twisted my ankle a couple times throughout the off and on trail miles and rolling hills. Then the heat made its appearance- and all I wanted to do was finish. The final 300m was on a track so I pushed to the finish with my second fastest half marathon 😮💨 #halfmarathon #medalmonday #racerecap #sundayrunday

“Only” 12 miles today and I was thankful for a down week. It was scheduled for yesterday but a spring snow storm hit and so I swapped it around. I really did not feel like doing it but it turned out that it was one of those runs that doesn’t feel hard and you could go for miles and miles. Funny how it happens that way.
TWENTY MILES! Started later than I originally planned due to a headache but decided a bit of extra sleep was worth running in higher temps. Worth it. . Was feeling great halfway and knew I had this in the bag no matter how ugly the other half was. . Enjoyed seeing flowers, running through a sprinkler (so refreshing!) and when I hit the truss bridge, I was nearly home. . I was so determined. In spite of the long, exhausting week. In spite of the out-of-state guests. In spite of the rain. I was going to get my 8 miles in. I set my alarm to get up and out while everyone was still sleeping. I grabbed my hat to deal with the "drizzle". I kept going as the wind and rain picked up. But at 2 miles, it was coming down so hard, and my feet were so soaked already that I knew it would be dumb to keep going. So, I reluctantly headed for home at just three miles. Frustrated, but what can I do? Overall, it was a good run! ☺️ I can't believe I walked away with the average pace I ran because I was so tired, had no energy, and felt like I was wearing cement blocks for shoes. 😂 Plus, there was this huge and, I mean, huge community yardsale (it was advertised as the largest in the county) where I run. People were rolling up there with empty trailers. 😳 I couldn't believe it! Anywho, so I'm like, okay, it doesn't start until X time. I'll get there about an hour and a half/hour 45 before they open to people. Boy, was I wrong. People were all ready in line at the soft serve 🍦 truck and yardsalin'. Not only that, I didn't even think about it, but lots of houses in developments in run were having yardsales as well. So, the whole tiny town was hopping. I'm shocked I only almost got hit by a car one time. 😅 Fortunately, I was right in front of the fire station's bay doors. I was in an alley that never gets traffic. A lady in a mini van was at an intersection and decided to slow down, but not look or even stop at her stop sign. I was in the crosswalk. Fortunately, I had my eye on her. She had her eye on the yardsale. While I'm on the topic of people driving... PSA: If you're merging onto a highway. There's this neat sign, and it's for your lane (that's why it's located on your right). It's not a cute decoration. It's white and red and the shape of triangle; it reads: yield. It means that you, merging onto the highway, are to yield to the traffic that's on the highway. Those people, on the highway, have the right of way. You need to wait until there isn't a car there to merge on. Sorry, not sorry. I'm just so sick of people being so self-absorbed, especially when driving. They are the only ones that matter. Who cares if it isn't my turn. Who cares about other people's safety? 🙄 You're not Bam Margera, you can't just do whatever the F you want. Ah, rant over. Thanks! ☺️ So, these new shorts were fantastic! 🤩 Didn't move a muscle on these powerful 😉 thighs! Plus, they are cute! I'll definitely have to get more! Resetting my relationship with exercise. Making it about a release and self care vs another box to check off in a busy life. This year I don’t have many racing plans (one 5k coming up in a few weeks). I want to move because my body and soul needs it but I don’t want to force it. Today I woke up without an alarm, journaled with my tea, and read with my coffee. Then I headed out for a walk with as much running as I could do to also keep my heart rate within zone 2. I stopped at a coffee shop 3.25 miles in and grabbed an iced Secret Garden (Lavendar, rose, and maybe rosemary) latte and walked home. I enjoyed the sun, the weather, and my podcast. I filled my cup and I got in movement! Cannot wait to do this more this summer as we live 1-1.5 miles from 3 different coffee shops and fun trails! #bamr #bamrbassador #motherrunner #selfcare #forwardmovement

I got to take a live Peloton ride this morning! That's super exciting because I don't remember the last time I got to ride live! (To be fair, I have been forgetting the end of a sentence I start, so that might not be saying much.😅😅 But, I don't think I've riden live in months.) I probably should've taken an easy ride this morning. But, then I saw a live ride and was so excited that it actually worked out! I thought, maybe it'll be an easy/chill ride. 😂 Then, I thought, um, it's AT, and I remembered this ain't no daycare.😅🔥😂 And I took it anyway! 😉😅🫣🔥 Then, I hit the mat for another excellent strength training class (Legs&Shoulders). Plus, some much needed yoga. I really should've taken an easier ride. I think my body would've appreciated that. But, I sure did enjoy the live class with AT! After applying the coating, ongoing inspections are vital to ensure its integrity over time. Unseen problems can lead to premature corrosion of the substrate, often caused by flaws in the coating. Common types of flaws include: Runs & Sags - Coatings move under gravity leaving a thin dry film. Cissing - Cissing is when a coating does not re-flow to cover the voids generated by the air bubbles being released from the surface of a coating. This creates small, crater like holes or indentations in the paint surface, varying in size from pinholes up to 1cm (0.40in) in diameter. Usually, the larger craters occur individually, whilst the smaller ones are often found in small densely packed clusters. Small impurities are often visible in the centre of the crater. Cratering - If the substrate is wet or the coating has poor flow characteristics, voids are created in the coating. The defect is mainly caused by mixing contamination with the wet film. Some binders have a greater tendency to cratering, on encountering contamination they form craters. This is thought to be because the surface tension is affected. Cratering occurs before the coating is completely cured. Cratering areas are potential sites for coating failures. Undercoating - Undercoating is where the coating is thinner than specified or where the coating flows away from edges/corners of a substrate/weld due to surface tension effects. In the worst case, the substrate remains uncoated. Insufficient coating over a rough surface profile may also leave the peaks of the profile exposed. Pinholes - Pinholes are caused by air entrapment, created by vigorous mixing of the coating, which is then released from the surface, or by the entrapment of particulates (dust, sand etc.) which do not stay in place. Overcoating - If too much coating is applied, as it cures, internal stresses of the coating can cause it to crack. Wake up. Kick ass. Repeat. ✔️ I did just that. 😉 So last week, I had a scheduled run where I was supposed to hit a certain pace for the main set. I didn't feel well and was so close to hitting it, but missed it by 3 seconds. I felt like crap and my heart rate kept getting really high. Today, I totally redeemed myself! I kept that comfortably hard pace for the main set and felt good! My heart rate didn't get way too high, either. It felt much better than last week. To be fair, I didn't feel like crap today. 🤩 Thank you @robinnyc for your excellent 90s-00s hip hop playlists! 🏃🏼♀️ Then, I jumped off the Tread+ and headed to the bike for my strength training (I like to use the bike for those classes). It wouldn't let me get past my profile screen. I figured I just needed to factory reset it because I literally just got off the Tread+. Well, turns out Peloton went down right as I entered my cool down run or a little before that. I guess I was able to do it because I was already past my profile screen? Plus, I had all my runs stacked, so I just jumped from one to the other without getting out. Anyway, I factory reset for nothing. 😅 I had to get my strength in and didn't have a whole mess of time to wait. I have done this split so many times that I felt comfortable pulling the class plan up on my phone and getting it done. Honestly, I've done this so many times that I don't even think I needed to pull it up on my phone.😂 This is my favorite day of the split (Legs & Biceps)! 🏋🏼♀️ @rebeccakennedynyc @rksolid_crew I also enjoyed a super fun Epic Sing-Along Ride with @pelotonjenn! 😎 It was so fun to just enjoy it! There were no rules. She gave cues, and of course, I followed them, but the point of the ride was to enjoy it and sing along! It was a total mood booster, too! For any of you out there wondering if the London marathon is worth it, stop right now and sign up for the lottery, or better yet, start researching charities. There are SO many amazing ones and there were more people racing for charities than I have ever seen. I went into this race with legs that I knew had the potential to be strong, but they were also tired and a teeny bit sore. Boston, a lot of travel in different time zones, and walking 25k+ steps each day took a lot out of me. I literally shivered in the start corral and told myself that the only goal for the day was to listen to my body and cross the finish line for that ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. I didn’t realize until the expo that I would be in a different corral than all of my friends, so my plan for running with them was all but impossible on race morning. When we crossed the start line the first few steps already had me feeling the tops of my quads, so I turned my watch face screen and just let the group around me guide my start. From the jump there was cheering. I swear, almost the entire race there were people along the side of the road and it was so many at times that they swelled into the actual roads. It was awesome and I found myself smiling uncontrollably. I mean, it was SPECIAL. The weather was my perfect kind of race weather (cold😂) and the further I got into the race the better my legs felt. By mile 13 the energy had me forgetting about my legs, and I was too afraid to look at my watch with how packed the streets were, that by mile 23 when I finally looked down and realized my pace I was shocked at how fast I was moving. I was passing people all over the place, the legs felt strong, and the crowd was electric. I will never forget the energy from the turn towards Big Ben until the end. Hands down one of the coolest experiences. It may have taken 10 years of ballot entries to finally get me to commit to a charity, but it was worth the wait. Peace out London! ✌🏻 Hands down one of my favorite weeks in a long time. Thank you @linabutler @imkimlouie @lynngarcia605 and @marybrendza for all the belly laughs, tears, fun, love, and memories. 🫶😘
