Make it make sense! The issue resolved after putting on a new pod, leaving me to believe the previous pod had to be leaking an undetermined amount of insulin into him. NOW THAT’S SCARY, esp for a little guy with such low insulin needs. The number one thing that every type one diabetic needs is a diabetes bag. You’ll probably rarely leave home without it! It can feel a bit overwhelming to know where to start, so here are some ideas! 👛 Step one: find a suitable bag My bag is just a makeup bag that happened to be on sale when I needed one, but you can order special bags online with zips and compartments if you think that would benefit you. Your bag will need to be big enough to fit things like your insulin pens, but not so big that it’s impractical. I have found a makeup bag to be a great size as it can easily be thrown in rucksacks, work bags and car boots. 🎒 Step two: give the bag a name! This step is a bit of fun, but it really does make a difference. My bag is called Tony and asking people “hey, have you seen Tony anywhere?” feels more light-hearted than “have you seen my diabetes bag?” And the bag will be with you so many places that it is nice to have it as a companion along for the ride. 👜 Step three: get packing It’s time to consider what you’ll need with you on a daily basis. This is what Tony has: Insulin pens (replaced every month) Needles A mini sharps bin (you can find these online and they are so useful when out and about!) Insulin vial Spare omnipod A bag of lancets Finger pricker Blood glucose test strips Ketone strips Test strip reader Compact sugar in case of an emergency, such as glucose strips 🛄 Step four: remember to restock This is probably the bit I’m worst at! Now that I use omnipods and don’t need to refresh my needles constantly I am awful for only doing a proper restock when I know I will be away for a couple of days. But things do expire, so take some time now and then to make sure your bag is well stocked with in date, useful items. 🤍 Hopefully this can help you make your own Tony if you don’t have one already! my first month with omnipod 🫶 before starting omnipod i was struggling with dealing with diabetes mentally - i got lazy with carb counting and would only ever inject after i’ve eaten, i had low energy and was tired all the time. i had always wanted a pump but i didn’t want another device on my body, especially being a teenage girl and i wasn’t sure if i trusted the technology. this month has been great, diabetes feels lighter, it’s nice not having to think about basal injections, my management is significantly better, it’s easier to pre bolus and carb count and i feel like i have more energy and feel less nauseous less often. i do go low a lot more often which can be frustrating and i’m not sure if it’s bolus or basal that needs tweaking but i’ll figure it out! i travelled to spain and had no issues in the airport and my management was definitely better than when i’ve travelled previously. i don’t really mind having an extra device on my body, it’s kindof cute and it helps me so much, sometimes it hurts or gets in the way but i’d rather that than go back to MDI. i feel like it’s harder to stay on top of when i need to order my prescriptions as i don’t have a visual of how much insulin i have left every time i inject but i’m sure i’ll get used to it. if you’re on the fence about getting a pump this is your sign to give it a try i feel so luck that this tech is available to us! - #typeonediabetes #type1 #t1d #diabetes #chronicillness #autoimmune #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #health #fitness #positivity #lifestyle #wellness #pinterest #fashion #aesthetic #omnipod #coffee

How does morning coffee affect your blood sugar? ☕️ I would like to touch on post-coffee morning spikes. For years I have always struggled with morning spikes (due to heightened cortisol), add coffee into the mix, and we are ready to conquer a day full of high blood sugars. I typically eat plant-based, but my coffee creamer (half & half) is an ingredient I will not give up. Back on it. 8 miles done today. I took Yousef on the bus this morning and he wanted to race me to nursery this morning from the bus stop 😅. So we raced to the traffic lights to cross the road and then to nursery 🤣 He's got his own pair of "Proper" running trainers waiting for him at home now 🥰 When I woke up my glucose levels were 5mmol. PERFECT. Right where they should be 💪 I reduced my insulin basal profile to 30% and didn't bolus for breakfast. They went up a little to 7mmol. But they remained pretty flat and stable between 7mmol and 9mmol without needing a gel to prevent any potential low glucose events. Every second girl is suffering from PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). Here are some FAQs on PCOS: PCOS FAQ 1: What do we mean by Polycystic Ovaries? Poly means many (multiple) and cysts are fluid filled areas. Thus, a woman with polycystic ovaries will have a higher number of follicles (immature eggs which look like small cysts) in her ovaries. Because of more follicles growing in her ovaries, these appear larger in size on ultrasound. It is like to accommodate more number of students in a classroom, we need a larger room. Polycystic ovaries are very common affecting 20 in 100 (20%) of women. Having polycystic looking ovaries on ultrasound does not mean you have a polycystic ovary syndrome. Only around 6 or 7 in 100 (6-7%) of women with polycystic ovaries have PCOS and we need to look at other symptoms and hormones to diagnose this condition. I came away from the DUKPC very disheartened. In regards to the access issue we are facing for diabetes technology in Scotland. I was told by the diabetes pump team at the end of 2023 I would automatically upgrade and should be able to start a closed loop system at the beginning of the financial year. I phoned my Health Care Professional (HCP) a couple of weeks ago to try get an update of when I would get onto the Omnipod 5 & Dexcom G6, closed loop system. The reasoning I was given was because I’m not critically ill or pregnant. I definitely won’t get one anytime soon. I didn’t even recieve a timeframe for this. I am being punished because I am well controlled. This could easily push people to become uncontrolled/very ill just to get access to diabetes technology! Do we have to lie to get the technology to improve our health? When I was at DUKPC at the London Excel, I was able to speak to @dexcomuk & @omnipoduk, along with other young leaders from England/Northern Ireland & they asked what technology I was on. I toldOmnipod team I was on Omnipod Dash and it’s been life changing. The immediate answer from the team was to see if I knew about the new Omnipod5 closed loop. I told them I would love to be on this and would be a dream but I could be waiting up to 10 years, they were completely shocked. Dexcom asked me the same question and were also shocked that I am having to wait so long to get technology that can save lives and offer you more freedom. Other YL from England got info about dexcom G7 now available with the T-Slim upgrade. A young leader received this upgrade whilst talking to the team on the T-Slim stand. This is amazing and now she can go to her next appointment and ask for the G7, this might be given in a few months & hearing others say that they can get things really quick when asking without a fight or a 5/10 year waiting list. Seeing this access issue first hand is really having an impact on my mental health. I am fighting so hard along with others in the tech collective for the Diabetes Tech Can’t Wait campaign to get everyone the access in Scotland to life changing technology. Things need to change! The postcode lottery needs to stop🤬

Había olvidado por completo subir mi conmemoración, ya 15 años bestia, creo que nunca pensé llegar a tanto con todas las tragedias que me ponen en nivel experto ajajaj xD, pero me enorgullece saber que sigo por querer estar aquí, que si hay veces que quisiera si ascenso al reino de los cielos🐤🥹, pero mi madre una vez me dijo el proceso puede ser agotador y largo, hija no te rindas vas a tener la vida que tanto anheles algún día y cuanto razón tenía, siempre estaré agradecida con la madre que me tocó, sin ella no hubiera logrado nada de lo que soy ahora, también agradezco a todas esas personas que se toparon en mi camino y aprendieron a convivir conmigo sin dejarme de brindar sus apoyos y tratarme como un ser humano normal solo que con cuidados diferentes 💖, y ni que se diga de algunos de mis familiares que han estado ahí cuando casi san pedro me quiera llevar, sobre todo también a mi karnal, gracias bru por la paciencia de todos estos años 🥹💖, y ahora a mi nuevo compañero de vida, que me acepto sin importar un padecimiento, que todas las clrs parejas que pude tener, al fin la vida me dio aquel compañero que puede estar contigo en la enfermedad y salud, y ahora me das una gran familia otra razón para no querer ascender al reino de los cielos, sin duda el embarazo ha sido más que mi mayor reto, justo ahora estar postrada en cama no está tan chido, pero gracias mama, karnal y marido, amistades, mis doctores 🤧, por tenerme la paciencia y delicadeza, de seguir echándome porras y día a día estar pendiente de mi salud y porque la bebita nazca bien y yo este bien, sin duda eh logrado un nuevo récord, y pues este 🐤 es y será siempre un guerrero aunque la Saori se quiera adelantar antes del mes, te juro que te contaré esta anécdota de como hiciste batallar a tu madre🤣💖, sin más que decir feliz #diabersarioparami🥹🥺💖 #diabetesawareness #diabetesvida #typeonediabetes
💙 28 april 2018 💙 Att vi vågade, ville och orkade! Tack Anders Kullander vid @hemkopmalung för att du verkligen valde att satsa och tro på Wilma, oss som familj och alla andra med typ 1 diabetes. ❤️ Tack Wilmas mormor och morfar för alla tusentals timmar av ideellt oavlönat arbete som hunnit passera genom åren. Denna första lördag av arrangemang tyckte vi visst att allt skulle genomföras på samma dag! Avslutning på billotteriet med vinst av Volvo V40 från @bilkompaniet.se. Så många möten med givmilda lottköpare vi hade äran att prata med för att krossa fördomar och sprida kunskap om sjukdomen. Där är så många företag och föreningar vi samarbetat med samt privatpersoner som engagerat sig! Första Barndiabetesdagen med så mycket roligheter gick av stapeln under dagen med tex en fingerad olycka av ambulansen, assistanskåren och räddningstjänsten. Stort!! Och så välbesökt dagen blev på #orrskogenfolketspark. 👏🥳😍 Det var dagen vi mötte senior professor Johnny Ludvigsson för första gången. Magiskt!! Johnny höll ett uppskattat föredrag under Barndiabetesdagen. 💕 Tack till Ulla Ludvigsson för allt stöd du alltid gett oss! Och så första Barndiabetesgalan under ledning av världens bästa @sofia_ragenklint 💕. Där fanns 3-rätters middag till grym underhållning och alla auktioner, bara wow wow wow!! 💥 Visst kan en fortfarande nypa sig i armen för att det ens hänt? Vår insamling till @barndiabetesfonden_ startade på 400.000 kronor. 💙💙💙 Vi kommer minnas och uppmärksamma den 28 april så länge vi lever med typ 1 diabetes i släptåg.
