For years I was content teaching the elementary age. The kids always asked if I would move up with them and it was an easy and quick, NO! But man, when God moves and you step out on faith in obedience, what a whole new world He can open. Seeing this reminded me of a conversation I just had last week with my HIGH SCHOOLERS about this exact scenario! You see God didn’t just move me out of my comfortable, elementary classroom to another one. He moved me to another county, from the private to the public sector, to a brand new school and a brand new age group. I didn’t know three months ago where I would be teaching this school year, but God did and He has shown me over and over that He has me right where He wants me too. No matter my circumstances, I trust the Lord will take care of me. This past wkd I was part of a panel judging the @lioltacoma Final Concert at the Spanish Ballroom where young musicians not signed to a major label attend an 8-week music camp and compete in a culminating final concert. Each band performed several cover songs and an original, and were graded on measures such as stage presence, outfits, vocals, guitar, drums, etc. The winner gets to make a music video for their original song! This year's winner was "High Voltage"! The lead singer was a female vocalist who had a very iconic look and commanded the stage. The drummer and guitarist at stage right slayed, and this band even programmed their own lights. The overall composition of their performance was absolutely stellar considering how young they are. I feel so proud to be involved in the forward trajectory of these young musicians' musical careers! Much thanks to @skyewarden1 and @tbmoutreach for facilitating this program, and providing a platform for young musicians to showcase their talents and strive for true potential while furthering progression of our region's music scene. 👏👏👏 #liveitoutloud #spanishballroom #pnw #tacomawa #tedbrownmusicoutreach

I flipped the script on that way of thinking and I am actually DOING the thing I never thought I could do!!! I am 58 pounds lighter today and feeling so much more confident in my work uniform! I even went down 3 sizes in my work pants!!! The scale victories are fun but these NSV’s are another level. And uh, I take selfies in the bathroom now?? 🦋Gotta job you hate? Bored? Kids fly the coop? How's that relationship going? We often forget that we have the power of choice to change things. We forget that we are the masters of our destiny (we have free will to navigate change). We often become so complacent and comfortable with the status quo that we fall victim to a destiny that we make with our own two hands. ⭐ I remember not so long ago when I felt this big pit in my stomach--it was a forlorn--especially on Sunday nights- when I dreaded the fact that I had to go to work the next day. It was actually anxiety-producing. This anxiety was born in an incubator of unhappiness, boredom and not maximizing my potential. One Sunday morning, I remembered--I had the CHOICE to make a change. And I felt the power shift. ⭐ Your life is not mine. And we only get one chance at this experiment. Don't do it like me, or your best friend, or your parents--do it like you. I had to order a 4X in men’s because it was the only shirt that fit me. Sort of. It was discouraging. It was especially physically and mentally draining. I remember seeing others on their weight loss journey and wishing that could be me and then I would allow myself to believe that it never could be me. But NOW?!?? I flipped the script on that way of thinking and I am actually DOING the thing I never thought I could do!!! I am 58 pounds lighter today and feeling so much more confident in my work uniform! I even went down 3 sizes in my work pants!!! The scale victories are fun but these NSV’s are another level. And uh, I take selfies in the bathroom now?? HOW IN THE WORLD DO I BREAK A BAD HABIT❓ Building heakthy habits and breaking bad ones is a heavy task. It’s not easy, but I think we make it harder than it really is sometimes. Think of it this way, we have two selves. Our present self and our future self. You present-self is you in the moment, concerned with your current state, needs, choices, and immediate actions. This self is high influenced by impulses, urges, and pleasure-seeking behaviors. Your future-self is the person you plan on becoming tomorrow, next week, next year, or five years from now. Since there is no immediate action required, it is easy to plan our ideal behaviors. Our brains are wired to lean towards immediate satisfaction (present self). So we have to be conscious of this and train ourselves to THINK differently about the choices we make. ASK YOURSELF THIS BEFORE YOU MAKE THE DECISION Is this going to serve me or am I going to serve it?
