Melodrama is a concept album by Lorde and seemed ripe to be turned into a stadium show as the tracks flow together and tell a complete story. Remix Time Whether it’s rearranging, adding features or building an entirely new song around some vocal stems, remixes come in a variety of forms. Some add to the original song, some take from it but they all do give way to the interesting practice of reworking an already finished project. These are just some of the highlights. 1) 070 Shake - Guilty Conscience (Tame Impala Remix) Leaving behind the original songs trap drums and light melodies proved to be a wise choice for Kevin Parker on this one. The sweeping synths and washed out drums make for an excellent remix that is undeniably Tame Impala. 2) Nero - The Thrill (Porter Robinson Remix) A classic example of taking a song and making it entirely your own. Porter Robinson did away with Nero’s heavy, dubstep sound and utilized his trademarked fantastical, dream like production to give us a remix that arguably outshines the original. 3) Madeon - No Fear No More (Remix) feat. EARTHGANG While not drastically different from the original in sound and structure, the EARTHGANG feature satisfies the lead vocal element the original was very much missing. Great electro pop tune. 4) Lorde - Green Light (Chromeo Remix) The electro-funk/disco remix is a tried and true formula and there’s no one better in the space than chromeo. The infectious bass line, driving drums and Niles Rodgers-esque guitars make for a great new take on the original song. 5) John Mayer - New Light (ZOOKËPER Remix) An unlikely remix to say the least, but a great one nonetheless. ZOOKËPER took the contemporary pop hit and turned it into an undeniable dance floor bop.
