Do you ever feel like your head is literally full of just ‘stuff’? I’ve really been struggling with cognitive function recently; word finding difficulties, failing to articulate properly, lacking creativity, taking ages to finish simple tasks, can’t concentrate on a book… these are just a few of my current joys 🙄 I’ve been reminded by two highly skilled coaches and all round wonderful women that we can’t produce our best anything if we’re in an overwhelmed state, and I think it’s fair to say that a ‘full’ head and blowing up with a cold overnight straight after another virus indicates my immune system is also struggling 🤧 - another warning sign of overwhelm 🤯 Whilst our stress responses can serve us well, a constant barrage of low level ‘busy-ness’ can push us into a steady state of sympathetic responses; feeling agitated and on edge all the bloomin’ time 🫁 One of the BEST and QUICKEST ways to calm an overstimulated system is to just BREATHE. This can help us tap into parasympathetic responses; ‘rest & digest’, and restore cognitive capability… hooray for being able to string a sentence together! My favourite exercise is: ➡️ breathe in for a count of four ➡️ hold for a count of four ➡️ sigh out for a count of four ➡️ repeat x4 ⭐️ Isn’t it fabulous that we have a superpower like breathing at our instant disposal? I sometimes need a reminder of this… I’ll bet you do too 😉 (And of course thank you @burrell_education & @clairenicolestansfield 🙌)

Today I have run out of spoons. How many spoons do you have each day? I don't always seem to have enough to get me through to the end of the day. Each spoon represents an amount of physical mental or emotional energy that you can use during the day. Once they're used you don't get more until the next day. That's not always convenient but stopping when I'm out of spoons helps me to keep my marbles in my pocket. We don't want to lose them again! #mentalhealth #losingmymarbles

I've had a productive day, all things considered. I " tidied" the studio last week, and now I've lost 2 paintings. I've looked EVERYWHERE under every chair and table, in every drawer, box and cupbpard. I even went up into the attic where I know fine well I wouldn't put paintings ( sooty and mucky). Despite this I cracked on with paintings but every half hour or so it was too much for me, and I went to look again. I don't need them, but things like that do my head in. Despite the constant distractions I feel like I got stuff done. And now I've remembered the paintings are in an exhibition and weren't even here when I tidied. I tell you, I'm losing it!! Confession bowl. Y’all, this is about to get real…I’m super lazy! Like minimal work, least effort, max reward. Saying it like it is. This bowl is perfect for that. The potatoes are just cubed and cooked, vegetables just washed and cut, throw that feta cheese on (no need for dressing even) and done with a days lunch. That’s the way I roll. If I can do it. So can you. What’s in the bowl: 1/2 cup quinoa (or whatever base you have as a leftover. Really good is a rice and quinoa mix) 1/2 cup feta 1/3 cup sweet potato 1/3 cup cucumbers 1/3 cup tomatoes 1/4 cup chickpeas Make it rain sanity and time (and money while we’re wishing for the big things).

Here it comes again! Sit back, read, and consider. This is actually MY story. I used to do this. I was wasting money and starving my body of the nutrition it needed to heal and excel. This. ❤ Jason and I are BOTH on the plan, and we are SAVING money! 💸Let’s talk about money.💰 In the beginning. I was ALL IN for this health plan... except for one problem: I could not afford it. After reading this, think about what you SPEND on food (not what you “budget”). When I leave the house each morning, that Bacon, Egg, and Cheese biscuit sure sounds warm and delicious. I usually upsize to a large order of hash rounds and a large, DIET Dr. Pepper, but I’m budgeting, so it’s only $2.79. (Oh what’s that “deal” in the app?) That hit the spot! I’m good until lunch. Hmm ... do I grab a quick Quarter Pounder with Cheese Meal for $6.69? Wait! A “healthy,” Cobb Zalad is only $7.00! That’s a bargain at only one penny per calorie! (Yep, 700 calories WITHOUT dressing.) “Good” choice! Driving home, I stop to get gas or pick up cat food, paper towels, laundry detergent, etc. Today has been SOOO stressful, so I grab a quick snack. Poppables (2 bags for $5) or M&M’s (“Shareable” size for $3.35)? I’m budgeting, so M&M’s it is! Don’t forget the Coke! Just $1.99! Finally, I’m home! Hubby says he’s grabbing supper. Perfect! I’m too tired to cook that chicken I set out to thaw this morning, so maybe I’ll cook it tomorrow. Or the next day. Or not. (Fast forward to thawed chicken being thrown out and wasted). Hubby SCORES with a chicken dinner with a biscuit and two sides! Only $5.55! That’s worth peeling the skin off…I already ate gluten today! I can’t afford that wonderful, healthy plan Cheryl keeps telling me about, but I just spent $20.68 today feeding my body fried food, bacon, potatoes, candy, bread, and (wait for it) ... 4700 calories! So this week so far i caught a sickness bug… which thankfully only lasted a few days to then find out today my incision is infected, which is why this morning i felt like i was feeling ill again, so that’s another 7 day course of antibiotics. 😩🤦🏻♀️ there’s been problems I’ve had to sort for my daughter in school, which has fried my brain, because I don’t take kindly to bully’s. I’ve been running around like a headless chicken whilst also being told to limit movement on my right side to aid with healing, I’m like love I’m a mother of 3 that does everything by herself. I don’t have the luxury of having help from people.
