Realtor life… story of the day… rescuing an escaped cockatoo! My buyer client and I are looking at a house and we’re in the upstairs bedroom when I hear someone running down the street screaming a name. I looked out the window assuming that they are searching for a child. But what I see is a large cockatoo on someone’s front porch looking in their glass door. So I told my buyer and we ran outside and he whistled to tell her if she was looking for a bird we had found it.😂🦜 So the lady came rushing back to get her bird. Meanwhile, the bird loved my Client and he climbed up his clothes and gave him kisses!! The good news is the bird was saved. The Rescue of a Tiny Wanderer An uneventful Sunday morning turned out to be far from ordinary. A waterhen chick was spotted scuttling around in the basement carpark at @northpointsg, narrowly missing my car. The species of this fluffball was instantly recognisable as these are commonly sighted in the open therapeutic garden of @khooteckpuathospital and Singapore marshlands. It disappeared in a flash. We drove a few rounds in the basement, trying to locate the fluffball when we spotted the plucky chick ventured unknowingly into a locked water tank area through a tiny gap between the gate. It was all dark, noisy and hot in there. We know it will not survive for long if we don't get it out in time. It is fortunate that the customer service officer was quick to act and activated the security officer and technicians to open up the area. These guys went above and beyond to rescue the chick which escaped into the nook behind the metal pipes. Ducking and weaving through the dense pipework and cramped quarters, the guys managed to get the chick. We took over the bird and released it to where it should belong - the garden at ktph (presumably). The plucky chick darted out and into the marshy areas when we tilted the box. The rest is history. Heartfelt appreciation to Afiq, Ian, and Lan - whose contributions might not always be in the public eye but whose impact is deeply felt in times like this. Dear DragonBirders, Lotte’s van was broken into last night and Bird was in a vintage blue/grey suitcase which was stolen! Bird, is of course much loved and irreplaceable. If any of you happen to see her around looking lost please look after her and tell us. We suspect the thieves won’t value Bird like we do and might have discarded her somewhere near Greenbank in Bristol. We will update you but until then, keep your eyes peeled for Bird! UPDATE: OWNER FOUND 🎉 This little pineapple conure was found in the Pakenham area today (15/3/24) and was handed into the lovely team at The Animal Doctors at Pakenham and Officer. Unfortunately they do not have a microchip (PLEASE microchip your parrots!) however they do have a leg band, the colour of which the owner should be able to identify, alongside any other distinguishing characteristics this bird may have. Please get in touch if you believe this sweetheart belongs to you 🦜 Proof of ownership is required for all birds. When it’s 38°C (100°F) outside and this little one shows up in someone’s backyard! 😱 This gorgeous canary turned up in Lakeside Pakenham yesterday afternoon (9/3/24). They were a bit dehydrated upon arrival but are otherwise incredibly lucky to be in good condition. Given how hot the weather is and how well this little one is going, they’ve definitely only escaped from somewhere local recently. Thank you so much to the Good Samaritan who got them to safety and offered them a drink. A reminder to please make sure to put shallow water dishes out for birds in your gardens during this autumn heatwave.
