Some frou-frou, ruffles and gathers on the petticoat and the skirt to celebrate the spring sun rays we finally had today. I didn't wear these 18th century stays since a long time and found they could match with the pleated skirt I sewed in a romantic Toile de Jouy last year. It's a part of a complete historical outfit. Quelques frou-frou, volants et fronces sur la jupe et le jupon pour célébrer les rayons de soleil printanier que nous avons enfin eu aujourd'hui. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — From Princess to Dauphine to Queen Marie Antoinette, or Maria Antonia as she is known in this book, is not stupid. She may appear so at the beginning because she is somewhat illiterate, but by the end of her diary she has grown into her role as Dauphine of France and exhumes elegance. I believe this is a splendid example of Australia and France in the late 1700s as well as the differing court life. We are with Antonia as she learns French etiquette, its weird customs, and how death shapes us all. It just makes Marie Antoinette’s story all the more tragic, she was a victim of her teachings, including her gambling addiction (she didn’t even know how to play cards until she was engaged to the Dauphin) and the exquisite court life. Where was her privacy? 🇮🇹 Dal formulario di Monsieur Jean Louis Fargeon (profumiere di corte), un’acqua spiritosa odorosa ideata per l’ultima Sovrana di Francia: Maria Antonietta d’Asburgo-Lorena. Nella seconda metà del XVIII secolo, la Regina Maria Antonietta si ritirò presso la tenuta del Petit Trianon, donatale come regalo nuziale dal consorte Luigi XVI. La predilizione per quel luogo ameno portò la Regina a domandare al suo profumiere Fargeon un’essenza che potesse racchiuderne gli effluvi floreali. Fargeon compose per la Sovrana il più mirabile degli spiriti odorosi (degli “esprits perçants”, come la Regina li aveva ribattezzati) che avesse mai composto fino ad allora per la regale committente, armonizzandolo in una struttura olfattiva paragonabile ad una sinfonia musicale. Una melodia unica, che potesse evolversi sulla pelle della committente che lo avrebbe indossato. Era un sentore campestre, di una presenza evocativa: il giardino che tanto amava Maria Antonietta, era tornato a fiorire. 🇬🇧 Based upon Monsieur Jean Louis Fargeon’s original formula (court perfumer), a scented water created for the last Sovereign of France: Marie Antoinette of Habsburg-Lorraine. In the second half of the 18th C. Queen Marie Antoinette (oppressed by the rigid etiquette of the court) retired to the Petit Trianon estate, given to her as a wedding gift by her consort Louis XVI. The love for that pleasant led the Queen to ask her perfumer Fargeon an essence that could fully grasp the perfume of that wonderful place. Fargeon composed for the Sovereign the most admirable of the spirits (of the “esprits perçants, as the Queen renamed them) which he had ever composed for the royal client, harmonizing it in an olfactory structure comparable to a musical symphony. A unique melody that could evolve on the skin of the royal patron who would wear it.
