Located between France and Japan, the Morocco Pavillion opened on September 7th 1984 and was the first and ONLY pavillion within the Epcot World Showcase sponsored by its country of origin. Skilled Crafters were brought in from Morocco to create the mosaics and carved plaster artwork integrated in this pavillion! How cool is that?! The Orange Blossom-Saffron Cake from inside the Morocco Pavilion at the Tangierine Cafe - Flavors of the Medina Cafe area was a nice treat. Very light and not sweet at all, which I loved. The cake isn't all orange like the name may suggest; it's just a shell-like covering to a creamy panna cotta. The bottom layer is a pistachio cake, and the plate has a raspberry drizzle and candied pistachios. This treat wasn't my favorite - but it's a me thing. I wasn't expecting the panna cotta, and was hoping for an actual orange/citrus flavored cake. Every other part was divine. 6/10. This couple can simply never have enough Disney! "Disabled friends in Disney" series, set 65 of 99. Series content: Three days with a group of ten in Walt Disney World, with five service dogs and five power wheelchairs among us. In various sub-groups, we first spent time in Disney Springs, then Magic Kingdom, then EPCOT. We mostly just had a good time together in the various settings, enjoying the more relaxed attractions along the way. Settings: On Friday, Disney Springs shopping, dining, and entertainment district, then hanging out at night at the Pop Century resort where most of us stayed. On Saturday, Magic Kingdom, starting with Adventureland and hardly spending any time on Main Street. On Sunday, EPCOT, focusing on the Journey of Water, Living with the Land, and the countries in the World Showcase. December 3โ5, 2023. Did you know that King Hassan II of Morocco sent designers to help with the original construction? This pavilion was still under construction on Epcots opening day and finally opened in September of 1984. Disney took full control over this pavilion in April of 2021. The tower above the pavilion, is an exact replica of the popular icon located at Koutoubia Mosque in Marrakech, the largest mosque in Morocco. You may notice at the beginning of the fireworks show that each pavilion is lit with rope lighting except for Morocco which would be a violation of customs to light a prayer tower at night. If you look at Morocco from across World Showcase Lagoon and notice the Tower of Terror looming in the background? The Morocco Pavilion in Epcotโs World Showcase shares a development history with the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror On September 7, 1984 the Morocco Pavilion was opened. It was the first addition to World Showcase since the park opened Roughly 10 years later, on July 22, 1994, the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror opened on the new Sunset Boulevard in Disney*MGM Studios As the two parks were next to each other, the Tower of Terror could be seen towering over the Morocco Pavilion as guests walked around World Showcase Lagoon, particularly near the Mexico Pavilion The Imagineers knew this and came up with a plan. The Tower was designed with Neo-Mediterranean architecture so that it would blend in with the skyline of the Morocco Pavilion The Tower is still clearly seen as you look toward Morocco but guests pass right over it, seeing it as just part of the pavilion skyline. Series content: Three days with a group of ten in Walt Disney World, with five service dogs and five power wheelchairs among us. In various sub-groups, we first spent time in Disney Springs, then Magic Kingdom, then EPCOT. We mostly just had a good time together in the various settings, enjoying the more relaxed attractions along the way. Settings: On Friday, Disney Springs shopping, dining, and entertainment district, then hanging out at night at the Pop Century resort where most of us stayed. On Saturday, Magic Kingdom, starting with Adventureland and hardly spending any time on Main Street. On Sunday, EPCOT, focusing on the Journey of Water, Living with the Land, and the countries in the World Showcase. December 3โ5, 2023.
