DESIGN WITH NO CONTEXT: I was once discussing with a friend about architecture that doesn't relate to the territory and how, in my opinion, is so futile. Like a spaceship dropped from the sky that could look good (or not) anywhere you land it but doesn't dialog with the surroundings. And I said "you may as well design something like this," and in one minute I sketched this drawing. It's the @messnermountainmuseum located in the Sigmundskron castle. When i was in my twenties the books and stories of @reinholdmessner_official inspired me to go to the mountains and discover the world. Today i saw he inspired a lot of other people and artists. Last year i made some pictures of my Steinbock and Adler made of old bicycleparts in the Otztal. Partecipai alla sua inaugurazione, con il padrone di casa, l’alpinista Reinhold Messner e l’architetta che lo aveva progettato: Zaha Hadid @zahahadidarchitects. Ne scrissi su @internimagazine con una intervista ‘incrociata’ fra Messner e Hadid. Ricordo che Messner mi disse che non aveva molto tempo per l’intervista, ma poi parlò per quasi un’ora (e con grandissima passione) delle ‘sue’ montagne e di quello che considerava il suo ‘15’ Ottomila, cioè il progetto del suo museo! Alla fine gli dissi: ‘Vede Mr. Messner che anche per una intervista non ci vuole fretta. Come per scalare una montagna‘. Cᴀsᴛᴇʟ Fɪʀᴍɪᴀɴᴏ ﹣ Sᴄʜʟᴏss Sɪɢᴍᴜɴᴅsᴋʀᴏɴ… hat eine bewegte Vergangenheit hinter sich. Heute beherbergt es das Herzstück eines faszinierenden Museumsprojekts des Extrembergsteigers Reinhold Messner. Es ist eines der sechs Messner Mountain Museen MMM. Unter dem Motto „Der verzauberte Berg“ sieht man bei einem Rundgang durch die Burganlage Reliquien, Skulpturen, Gemälde und Zeugnisse des Alpinismus. Da die Burg auch eine Rolle auf dem Weg zur Autonomie Südtirols spielte, gibt es auch dazu eine interessante Ausstellung. Treppauf treppab durch die Türme und über die Wehrgänge bietet sich ein tolles Zusammenspiel aus zurückhaltend restaurierter Ruine, sehenswerten Sammlungsstücken und immer wieder Ausblicke auf die Texelgruppe, die Ötztaler Alpen und den Schlern.
