Spring is here 🌸🌷 I’ve always loved this time of year. For lots of reasons, but definitely because it signaled the end of the school year. Ive spent most of my life either as a student or a teacher and the vibe just shifts in late April/early May. There’s not so much to quantify, anymore. State testing is usually over, seniors are on the way out, and there’s some respite waiting in the soon to be summer vacation. It’s interesting, as much as I love that open feeling, I think I was attracted to teaching for the opposite. I think I have traveled to every state and nearly every national park for, at least in part, the opposite feeling. You see, the truest me loves to quantify. I love to have a specific goal to measure myself against. I need to tell myself that the goal is to have ___% of my students reaching ___ level by ___ day. I like to tell myself that I will visit all 63 major US National Parks by the time I’m 40 in 2025. Without that, I feel like an imposter. I feel like I’m not good enough at anything, really. Just going through the motions. And I don’t think I’m wrong for feeling that, necessarily. But what I have been thinking is that I want to bring more of this spring feeling into my life. Whether the calendar reflects it or not. I want to be comfortable and even joyful and in awe of these in betweens. The hard or even impossible to quantify. The ones that just feel… right.

Horseshoe Bend — what a treat and a definite “must” on your next trip to Arizona. Here are a few tips for your visit: • It’s not just a viewpoint on the side of the road that you pull off on — it’s a .75 mile walk each way — not strenuous and good for all ages. • Definitely wear a hat and sunscreen - if you go during the day, you’ll be in the direct sun. There’s not any shade. • There is a $10 per vehicle fee for parking. • Expect crowds during the busy season, but don’t let that keep you away from this amazing place — there’s plenty of room for everyone. • Sunrise and sunset times are best because of the great lighting. • It’s very windy - wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from the blowing sand. The view is one of the best we have ever seen, anywhere and we can’t recommend this place enough. 📍Next Stop Page Arizona Part 1 : Lake Powell . . 🔻Such a fun kayaking tour with @lakepowellpaddleboards. This was our favorite tour activity we did. This consisted of a 5 mile round trip kayak tour to remote sections of the Antelope slot canyons that can only be accessed by water. Once arriving at the slot canyons, we hiked 2 miles round trip. The tour guide was very knowledgeable of the area. We booked the first tour group available in the morning. I highly recommend this. Not as crowded with boats or other kayakers. #outwest #pagearizona #lakepowell #traveltips
