Are you always aware of what you need? 😊 I just realized how much I really would need a break/vacation, someone who would cook for me and care for me, time to relax, some tender touch, some wellness and joy. 🧖♀️🌊😌 Through the whole year, I didn't allow myself to get that because I was constantly pushing myself so hard to get healthy again by going to many doctors, educating myself on treatments, just learning to ask for help, not having anyone to cuddle/touch. 🚧 I was very impatient, afraid and angry, wanted to work again as soon as possible and forced my will onto life and my body. Spoiler: It didn't work out 🤪🙈 So now, I surrender to the current state that I am in with all the symptoms that I still have and try to find trust and relaxation, calmness and enjoyment within that. Enjoy every bite of a meal, enjoy lying on my couch with music, enjoy the sunshine and wind, enjoy touching my skin, enjoy nice smells, enjoy looking at nature, etc. Letting go of all the wishes to be active. We haven’t had a getaway as a family or as a couple in about 10 years. Bob has no vacation time left due to illness, so likely we can only plan a few short getaways. The boys saved most of their money from their jobs from last summer, birthdays and Christmas money from the last two years, and plan to save most of their money from their current summer jobs. With all the COVID stuff still constantly changing, I’m afraid to make any plans for fear they will have to be cancelled like last year’s plans. At least we were refunded most of our deposit from what would have been our family vacation. Unfortunately, we did not get refunded for what would have been some couple time. [ My grand plans kaput ] Leading up to this week, i made many grand plans trying to finish as much as i could with painting gifts, planning for workshops, trying to discipline myself to sit in-front of the computer to do admin work, trying to stay afloat replying to incoming messages, thinking of something that i could paint for Mother’s Day to share on IG, trying to make plans for the second half of the year AND i realised i have been very overwhelmed by all these activities 🥺 I usually can bounce back after a day or two of rest but this time round the fatigue felt different. From a day of rest became a week to weeks 😢 From shifting between guilt and trying to be responsible, the anguish finally led me to decide enough was enough and i had to stop hiding in my dark and stuffy bear cave of trying to act brave 🐻 and accept that fact i’m overwhelmed. I am also grieving the fact that I’m starting to really miss travelling and decided to thicken my skin and called a few friends for help and advice. Thankful to @lilbitoftisndat @mrsjseow who not only didn’t judge my crazy speeding 180km/h grand plans, they also took time to listen to my heart, made practical plans to help me and comforted me by taking me out for a meal 🥲💛 So on this Mother’s Day weekend ~ here’s a simple heartfelt wish to all mums, step mums, god mums, fur kid mums, plant mums, mums of dreams and cherished moments ~ there would be many days that would make us feel inadequate and overwhelmed but don’t forget to give ourselves a pat on the back for staying so well on your journey thus far and to allow kindness and love from the universe to love us on days like these; because that’s when every seed of self acceptance within us grows. Happy Mother’s Everyday! ❤️ P.S.
