Throwback to our wedding a year ago today! 💍 We did a quick small ceremony on the balcony at Union Station, walked to the Quincy train stop and road the brown line with all our guests up to @kite_string_cantina, and ended the night at @clarkstreetale. 100/10, would do it again. I had such a hard time trying to plan a wedding as a newly diagnosed celiac. I was extremely scared of being glutened on my wedding day. I cannot wait to try these pitta breads from @bfreefoods … I’m sure you guys have already seen these but I did do a little hop and skip when I saw them… living in the New Forest I do feel we are five years behind 😝 and I’m so late to the party on some stuff 😔 Summer screams out Pitta breads for me … nice bit of BBQ meat and salad or a nice alternative for a sandwich! I’m praying they don’t fall apart or become wallpaper paste in my mouth! Time will tell, but super excited to try them. Nandos 🍗🍗 Had a 6 hour dress rehearsal yesterday on a hangover so this was perfect in the evening!!!! One of the only takeaways that is both gluten free and dairy free. I also trust Nandos more than other places as they seem to have a lot of procedures in place when you go to the restaurant. HOWEVER…. one thing that bugs me with Nandos (and other places) is that when you order a collection or delivery, the website says “Currently, we can’t cater for specific dietary requirements for collect orders.” Why?! I don’t get it. You can cater for me in the restaurant but not when I come and get it? Despite this, I did ring the restaurant and told them I understood they couldn’t cater for specific dietary requirements, but they seemed pretty happy to help- asked me what I was allergic to and I just asked them to avoid cross contamination. They said they’d pass the message on to the chefs. So the message on the website confused me a bit. 𝓨𝓸𝓻𝓴𝓼𝓱𝓲𝓻𝓮 𝓟𝓾𝓭𝓭𝓷𝓰𝓼 Perfect addition to any dinner if you ask me!! These are both GF and DF. ⭐️ Equal parts plain flour to corn flour (I use 50g for both) ⭐️3 eggs ⭐️120ml milk (I use oat based milk) Pop some oil in a muffin tray (I don’t have a special Yorkshire tray!) for 5-10mins. Pour some of the batter into each section. I fill each section about half way-ish. Pop in the oven for 20-25 minutes until they are golden brown. Oven temp should be about 180 degrees, however I find a hotter oven is better for these - all ovens are different. To cook a whole roast dinner my oven is on 200 degrees - perhaps time for a new one?! 🤦🏼♀️😂 ⭐️Top tip - I prepare the batter before I start the whole prepping/cooking of the roast. I find if it sits for awhile it rises better in the oven 🤷🏼♀️ ⭐️you can also cook these ahead of time and freeze them if you want to. #recipe #yorkshirepudding #roastdinner #sundaydinner #dinnerideas
We’ve awarded a £250k grant to Dr. Swamy for a project to take us further along the ‘Journey to a Cure’ for coeliac disease. The project will look at certain proteins involved in the immune response to gluten aiming to identify new ways to treat ongoing symptoms associated with coeliac disease and refractory coeliac disease. Dr Swamy said “I’m excited by the possibility that an idea born out of findings in my lab may eventually lead to a treatment”. Sometimes you just can’t beat ‘simple’! Tagliatelle with pan fried paprika spiced prawns, broccoli, handful of tomatoes and button mushrooms.. adding 150ml double cream and 25g grated parm at the end of cooking time to warm through, and a splash of pasta water. Topped with pine nuts, and chopped fresh basil 👌🏻👌🏻 Declared a winner dinner all round! 😁 Comfort food at its finest on a chilly spring evening!
