Yr3 Day #278 Wow, what a day today has been. I'm going to bed very late. I did get my food in, and I trained legs today. It was a good session. I felt confident and strong. I'm late with my post today as I'm busy moving my house around, ready for the builders to rip out a room. It's hectic, but it's got to be done. I'm just glad tomorrow is my rest day. I need all the time I can get. Not going to the gym will save me a lot of time. Bed for me now. I'm working my way back to normal! Overall, my recovery is going better than I expected! Fortunately, I have been in less pain than I thought I might be. Hopefully, that trend continues! We even managed to go out for dinner this weekend. (Let me tell you, it was a great break from staying home!) Mostly, since my rotator cuff surgery, we have been eating meals that I put up in our freezer and one-handed sandwiches. 🥪 I have a long ways before I am back to cooking the way I prefer to cook, but we are making do with freezer meals and super simple things like ground turkey manwiches. En casa, y para seguir con el ánimo post-vacacional, hemos empezado a ver –por tercera o cuarta vez- la película “La dama de Shanghai”. La actriz protagonista es Rita Hayworth. Era esposa del director, Orson Welles. Se estaban divorciando. Para machacarla emocionalmente, además, él le hizo cortarse la melena y teñirse de rubio. Era quizá su último gesto de “destruir a la bella Rita”. Consiguió bien poco, pues ya podía haberle puesto los pelos como escarpias, que su belleza era su rostro, sus ojos, su expresión... La veo en las escenas y es una atractivísima mujer, a pesar de los esfuerzos que su casi ex-marido pretendiera. La película inicia con una voz en off. Escuchamos a Orson Welles, que, además de director era actor en la película, decir lo siguiente: “Cuando me da por hacer locuras, no hay nada que me detenga”. “Si hubiera sabido cómo iba a acabar todo, nunca habría dejado que empezara, es decir, si hubiera estado en mi sano juicio”. “Pero, en cuanto la vi, mi sano juicio se esfumó durante algún tiempo”. Esta voz se grabó después de filmar la película. Me refiero a que se grabó cuando ya se había asesinado a Elisabeth Short. Mis sospechas siguen creciendo, ¿y las tuyas? As the new year got into full swing & things got back into the normal life rhythm of school, work and physio sessions, I continued to become more confident in my abilities & in my balance. I found myself increasingly not using a walking aid or crutches when at home. I was able to go up & down the few stairs more easily each day. Just doing normal, day-to-day things at home was often all the therapy & physio I needed to achieve a whole lot of mini-goals I had set myself. I was able to BBQ again for my family, I was able to drop off & pick up the kids from school, & I was able to teach Megan how to drive. This last week I had some blood work done and then a follow up appt with my neurologist for my monthly check up. I got much better news this time vs last months visit. I only have 2 weeks left of cutting out the 1st seizure meds I was on & then I will be on just the 1 that seems to be working instead of both 🙌 If I make it through this month without a seizure then at my appt next month I should get the OKAY 👌 & signed off to drive again (close to home)!! 🥹 Although my neurologist did give me a heads up that with me cutting out one of my meds completely that I could relapse & if that happens we will have to higher the dose of the other one since I’m at the lowest dose along with my time starting all over again for not being able to drive. This is #Hallstatt • a little village in Austria near Salzburg. Sometimes named as the Most Beautiful Lake Town in the World. It is an important tourist attraction for Austria. It is so beautiful and popular with Chinese tourists that a Chinese developer made a replica of this town somewhere in Guangdong province 😄 While we were in Salzburg, we made an easy day trip to Hallstatt with a van. We spent a couple or hours walking around the quaint village taking picture, eating something, and buying souvenir. It is also possible to take the cable car 🚠 for 25€ to have the Birds eye view of the village and lake. We did not do it because already did in #Salzburg and didn’t have enough time since it took us a while to find a restaurant who can accommodate us.
