With 34% lung function, I can't afford anymore damage to my lung tissue. I am waiting to hear from Duke on how to proceed. I made it a month past a year, I was in Duke last year and did IVs at home for a month in March. I feel blessed I made it this long without getting sick. Take a deep breath today and know how fortunate you are to not know the struggle of hiking while breathing through a straw. That’s what it’s like with low lung function. Every mountain I climb, every trail I finish is a victory you may not quite understand. I have big training to do to get ready for Havasupai in September. It is on my bucket list and I cannot wait for the challenge. I'll carry in my heart all the friends I have lost to this horrible disease.
