And then 2 years later, I sewed the zipper on. Hooray! (So here are pictures of me modeling my Finished Object in Chicken View Terrace. (Not really a terrace but sounds best that way).) Did I do an expert job? No! But that thing is ON. It’s fine. It works great. I now have a sweater jacket for colder weather. Like today! I am pleased I washed and blocked it before finishing because I can just wear it immediately. Second sewing project 🧵🏋️♀️ ✉️ You know how much I love pockets. Machine knitting: Big stripy sweater 🧶 After my first big Addi project, I was intrigued by the idea that I could make a sweater. I weighed my leftover yarn, calculated what I could do with each color in Excel, and watched YouTube tutorials by @yayforyarn to make sure I was on the right track. There are several things I did differently, but the #yayforyarn #dropshoulder #pullover pattern was my starting point. ▶️ Drop shoulder means a body constructed from rectangles (4 for me), therefore a less complicated shoulder joint and limited shaping, easier for machine knitting. This was knit #bottomup, so the arms (4 more panels) required Addi-machine-compatible increases. I learned from measuring that my arms are unusually long, and somehow the gauge wasn't 100% correct, meaning my sweater is a little oversize, but I like it! It's cozy! I added thumb holes to the sleeves, ribbing across the whole top, and many multicolored stripes. I had no idea how they would line up with the arms, but it's a #mariniere aesthetic with a blue gradient as the background. I tried to keep lighter, brighter colors at the top and chose dark navy for my hips/butt 🤭 I added a pocket in the end. It's a single chest pocket because that's what colors of yarn I had left! I'm still happy to have a little extra storage. As the shawl vest can be worn flipped upside down, I didn't add pockets on that. Knitting, crochet and mattress stitching are all inherently sequential. If you mess up, there are limited windows of opportunity to go in and fix the mistake, and sometimes you have to tear everything back to the mistake or start over entirely. The Addi does kind of help in that it holds down all but a few needles at a time, and after some time I understood exactly how it knits and how to fix issues, but user beware if you ever drop either the first or last stitch on your panel! 🧘♀️⚠️ Making this sweater also helped me get the rainbow 2-pocket sweater sized closer to my body 📏 Apparently gauge isn't everything! #addiexpresskingsize #machineknitting #knittingmachine #stripes #colorfulstripes #pocketsforwomen #pocketsforeveryone #phildar #philcoton3 #cottonyarn #fiberarts #diyfashion #hygge

Function or aesthetics? 🤔 Should I sew on the brown patch pocket? My brother gave me a mechanical knitting machine, and I've been working on some projects - more to come once I photograph in daytime. Today I used the scrap yarn to add pockets! Only, I didn't have enough of the maroon color left. Already, the design of this pullover sweater is heavily influenced by its being machine knit from panels, using up leftover yarn.
