The Dream Team My trusty old solid fuel rayburn has been gifted to my off gridder friend to have in her yurt home. I've recently replaced the rayburn with a biomass which isn't nearly as lovely but a lot less labour intensive for me, and will help me manage my time and energy better. My friend was living off an old tin cooker with no back boiler, so we set about the mission of removing the rayburn from my house in one piece, taking it in a trailer to her land half an hours drive away, then driving it across the fields and lifting it onto a pallet lift with a tractor and ratchets (we thought we were promised a tractor with a forklift but there was a communication error so we improvised!), then had to brace the floor of her yurt as it's built over a 5ft pit, and pray to high heaven that the weight wouldn't crack the floor and fall into the pit. Anyway, somehow it worked and our mad plan succeeded. The Spring Cure Soup Ancient Spring Cure Soup is a recipe of old that our ancestors would have used to boost their health after long, dreary winters, not unlike ours this year! Imagine no shops, just whatever you could find in your surroundings. They’d whip up this soup with wild greens like nettles, dandelion, wild garlic and sorrel, along with regular veggies like leeks and onions. Consumed daily for at least a week or two, it served as a springtime tonic, bringing the body back into balance and replenishing essential nutrients. They believed this soup not only made them feel better but also helped prevent nasty conditions like scurvy, thanks to being packed full of vitamin C. Basically, it’s like a magical potion made from nature, like a superhero for your body. So, if you’re feeling a bit sluggish after winter, give this soup a try and feel the ancient wisdom work its wonders! 🌱✨ Ingredients: 1 tbsp olive oil 2 onions, diced 1 bulb fennel, diced 2 celery sticks, chopped 2L vegetable stock 1 courgette, diced 100g spinach leaves, chopped 2 big handfuls of young nettle tops, washed well and chopped 1 big handful of a mix of wild garlic, dandelion leaves, sorrel and cornered leeks – or whatever else you can find, this is what I have in my garden. Salt and pepper, to taste Parsley, chopped for garnish (optional) 1. In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion, fennel, celery and sauté until softened. 6-8 mins. 2. Pour in the vegetable stock. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes until the vegetables are tender. 3. Add the courgette and cook for 3 minutes. 4. Add the rest of the ingredients to the pot, stirring until they begin to wilt. 5. Season with salt and pepper to taste. 6. Ladle the soup into bowls, top with fresh parsley and serve hot. Na een gezellige Koningsdag in Zarra 🧡🦁 gister, kortom even lekker niets DOEn met vrienden en een hapje en een drankje🥰🥳...wist ik wat Rico vandaag ging DOEn! Die verheugde zich op deze sterke boytoy! 😁 De Lamborghini van lieverds Jurgen en Karin waarmee hij het overschot aan grond en stenen uit de boomgaard, makkelijker om kan toveren tot nette walletjes langs de randen. Eén van de vreemde eigenschappen van Spanjaarden is dat ze bouwpuin naar willekeur storten en begraven. Zo ook de oude eigenaar van ons landje helaas. 🙈🫣 We kunnen dat niet ongedaan maken. Maar wel verfraaien! En beplanten met mediterraan kruipend groen op termijn. Dus dat is wat wat Rico nu DOEt. De overkill aan stenen op het land een tweede betere en op termijn zelfs mooiere bestemming geven. 😉👌 Twee vliegen in één klap!
