Recreation: By far, our favorite part of the Riverside recreation was the Olโ Man Island swimming hole! We spent hours in this pool swimming, sliding down a 95 ft. waterslide and getting in and out of the hot tub! We had delicious gluten free beignets from Scat Cat Cafe for breakfast and then headed to the Grand Floridian Spa for Royal Pedicures. 2 challenges guests tend to face when staying at larger WDW resorts. ๐จ ๐ถ ๐จ ๐ถ ๐จ ๐ถ ๐จ ๐ถ ๐จ ๐ถ ๐จ ๐ถ ๐จ ๐ถ ๐จ โข Not trying to deliberately pick on Port Orleans Riverside here, but I think itโs a good example of what Iโm about to explain. 1) Transportation - In general, WDW transportation is slow. Teleportation hasnโt been mastered yet, so itโs gonna take some time to get from Point A to Point B. The most common form of transportation are the buses. Itโs estimated that a bus arrives every 20 minutes but that can honestly vary greatly. The added challenge here with the larger resorts is that they will have multiple internal bus stops. Riverside has 4 stops of its own. This not only adds to the travel time by stopping at each one, but also presents a potential problem during more popular times like the morning. Itโs not uncommon to wait for a bus to Magic Kingdom, only for that bus to arrive already full from the internal stops it made earlier. In that case youโll have to wait for the next one. For Riverside, the bus first stops at the main depot, and then travels clockwise around the remaining depots before heading to its destination. Taking the bus from the main building will essentially eliminate the possibility of waiting for multiple buses. This is only something you should think about during busy times like in the morning when parks are beginning to open. Another transportation example is the boats that take you between Riverside and Disney Springs. Nothing particularly fancy here regarding scenarios, itโs just may take a little longer than you thought. Once on a boat, itโll take about 20 minutes to arrive at Disney Springs. Itโs very scenic though, so I think of these as more of a relaxing recreational option. After all, thereโs also a bus to Disney Springs. 2) Food Court - Food Courts may seem like a decent size at first, but at these larger resorts they can fill up very quickly during mealtimes. Again, the morning during breakfast is a particular culprit. Early bird gets the worm. Riverside Mill Food Court for example tends to peak around 9am, but it opens at 7.

Mom & Dad Disney Trip Day 2 Recap: - EPCOT all day to enjoy the International Flower & Garden Festival, the live music, the flowers and the outdoor kitchens - had to get on some of our fav rides - Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind, Spaceship Earth, Soarin' and Three Caballeros - appetizer and night cap at Scat Cat's Club at Port Orleans French Quarter and a nice long walk back to our resort. Magical Vacation Alert! Thrilled for the Y family going to Walt Disney World this June and staying at Port Orleans French Quarter. This resort brings the flavor of New Orleans, from taking the riverboat over to Disney Springs, enjoying fresh beignets in the morning, and listening to live Jazz in the evening at Scat Cat's Cafe. At the end of a long park day filled with adventures, you can unwind in the hot tub or the epic pool, or wander the grounds that will make you think you're in the heart of New Orleans What's more is by staying on resort, they get the benefits of magic hours and early entry! Just Booked - The S Family is going to Walt Disney World and theyโll be staying at my favorite moderate resort, Disneyโs Port Orleans Resort- French Quarter. ๐ My clients are going to love the cobblestone streets, gas lamps, wrought-iron balconies and fragrant magnolia blossoms, along with colorful Mardi Gras characters and the sounds of jazz at this New Orleans themed Disney Resort. This resort is one of my favorites because itโs smaller and has a more intimate feel than some of the other moderate properties. I love the laid back and relaxing atmosphere which is especially nice when taking a break from the hustle and bustle of the parks.
