This resort is themed after Mardi Gras with light details inspired by Princess Tiana (it is her home after all!) When entering the room, you may find beads in the shape of Mickey Mouse on the table. Even the curtains are subtly patterned with strings of beads. The food court here, Sassagoula Floatworks Factory - is just that - themed after a warehouse where parade floats are made. You’ll find giant decorations strewn around shelves lining the seating areas. I had a lot of fun trying to spot giant Playing Cards with characters from Princess and the Frog on them. I’m sure you will too! Lastly, on your way to the Doubloon Lagoon Pool, you’ll find a Band of character alligators playing jazz before you enter the pool area with oversized jesters and a Sea serpent reigned by King Neptune. Resort Review! ✨ recent stay at Disney's Port Orleans Riverside in a Royal Room and it was wonderful! It was a first for one of us churros at this resort. ✨Pros: The theming across the entire resort was beautiful with plantation style buildings along a river way, bike rentals and carriage rides at night. You can hop on a boat and head to Disney springs on site. We think this is a great option if you want to upgrade your stay to a nicer resort without breaking the bank!! ✨Cons: the resort is very large, so there may be lots of walking depending on where your room is located. Just down the Sassagoula River, is the beautiful Port Orleans French Quarter ⚜️ You can celebrate Mardi Gras (and eat king cake) all year long here! ⚜️ Because the two Port Orleans resorts share the same property, guests can share pools! We spent most of our pool day at the Doubloon Lagoon, the dragon slide is SO cool! 🐉 There’s also a really cute water play area with smaller slides for the little ones ⚜️ My favorite part of this resort though, is the beignets at Scat Cat’s Cafe 🤤 I’ve been to France and I’ve dined in French restaurants, but these were the biggest and best beignets I’ve ever had! We had them with a side of chocolate sauce 🤌 ⚜️ French Quarter also shares the ferry that goes to Disney Springs and Riverside (FYI- the Doubloon Lagoon will be closed for routine maintenance from Jan-April 2024)
Let me tell you about our resort! 👑 We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside, in one of Tiana’s Royal Guest Suites. I’m always going to be Team AOA, but this is now a VERY close second favorite resort! 🪷The resort itself is beautiful, with a Louisiana bayou theme, and sits along the Sassagoula River. There are 5 pools, some for quiet and relaxing, but the Ol’ Man Island Pool is where the fun is at! You can also rent surrey bikes to get around, or take a short walk over to Port Orleans French Quarter (I’ll do a separate post on that one so it doesn’t get confusing) 🪷 Because we were visiting with 3 little princesses, we stayed in one of the Royal Guest Suites, which have a very royal feel to them and have photos of the princesses on the walls. Make sure to stop in at Registration on arrival to be welcomed with a scroll letter from Tiana herself! The BEST part though, the headboards light up with fireworks! The Minnie Me’s could not stop pressing the button and I’m sure they had to replace some lightbulbs after we left 😆 🪷 There are ferries that will take you to both the French Quarter side of the resort, and also to Disney Springs, so this was super convenient when little legs got tired and we didn’t want to fold up the stroller again 🪷 We also went on a horse drawn carriage ride while staying here! (I’ll do a separate post on that too because it was so much fun!)

Port New Orleans Riverside Resort🐊 Our first time stopping in one of the Port Orlean hotels. We liked the look of the theming, location, and the amenities the hotel had to offer. I was sure something on the stay was going to disappoint or not meet our expectations, but nope! Not one thing! We absolutely loved this super friendly, great atmosphere, fab location, and extremely picturesque resort. We had a royal suite, which was absolutely gorgeous, and also a great location, just across the bridge from the main part of the resort. As well as having a pool right outside our room door, it was also just across the bridge to visit the main resort pool. The food court had a great selection of food, and we found it very reasonably priced. They also did a fab job catering for severe allergies like mine. They also do the best Hot Fudge sundaes! Swipe for that beaut!! The transport links to the parks were great.
