TJ NEWMAN, THE AUTHOR OF “DROWNING”, RETURNS WITH “WORST CASE SCENARIO”, OUT AUGUST 13TH, 2024!!!⁣ ⁣ • #JBCCOVERREVEAL • WORST CASE SCENARIO •⁣ ⁣ Happy Monday, book friends. Kicking off the week with some fun publishing news. In conjunction with my friends at @littlebrown, I’m excited to be sharing the exclusive bookstagram cover reveal of TJ Newman’s latest ticking-clock thriller, WORST CASE SCENARIO!!⁣ ⁣ If you’re a fan of edge-of-your-seat thrillers and you haven’t read a TJ Newman book yet, IT IS TIME!!! The former flight attendant has really carved out a niche for herself as a go-to author for propulsive, cinematic action thrillers, with her debut FALLING captivating readers, and follow-up DROWNING (about a mother who must rescue her husband and daughter from a commercial plane that has crashed and sunk to the bottom of the ocean) making it into my TOP TEN BOOKS OF 2023.⁣ ⁣ Now Newman is back with another pulse-pounder, WORST CASE SCENARIO, which is earning comps to INDEPENDENCE DAY, WAR OF THE WORLDS, and CHERNOBYL. The book -about a commercial airliner crashing into a nuclear power plant- is basically Jordy-engineered nightmare fuel: a combination of my fear of flying mixed with my newfound fear of all things nuclear war. That being said: I NEED THIS BOOK NOW!!! Give me all the insomnia, TJ Newman!! #WorstCaseScenario doesn’t hit bookshelves until August 13th, but luckily we have this excellent cover to tide us over until then. More to come on this one in the weeks and months ahead, get those pre-orders in NOW, and in the meantime make sure you’re following @jordys.book.club for more updates on this book and more. ⁣ ___⁣ #thriller #psyhchologicalthriller #bookrecommendation #murdermystery #psychologicaldrama #thrillers #suspensenovel #domesticsuspense #bookrecommendationsforhim #bookrecommendationsforher #2024bookrecommendation #newbooks #newbook #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookrec #jordysbookclub #jordymademedoit

#JBCBOOKFEATURE • ONE OF US KNOWS •⁣ ⁣ Happy Monday, book friends! Hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was pretty low key…gearing up for a big, exciting week as we prepare for The LA Festival of Books this upcoming weekend. If you’re in/around LA, I hope you’re planning on attending. I’ll be around the festival all weekend, not to mention moderating a fantastic FIRST LIE WINS panel on Sunday, as well as speaking on a panel about book-to-screen adaptations with a few authors you might have heard of before (Attica Locke! Steven Rowley! Rachel Koller Croft!). It’s going to be a lot of fun.⁣ ⁣ As for what I’m currently reading, well it’s a lot. Shockingly, I’ve been in a bit of a slump lately, and nothing seems to be keeping my attention. Except for Alyssa Cole’s new thriller, ONE OF US KNOWS, out tomorrow, 4/16. I became a big fan of Alyssa Cole after devouring her book WHEN NO ONE IS WATCHING, and have been eagerly anticipating a new suspense novel. Her latest follows Ken, a woman with dissociative identity disorder who, along with her alters, takes a job as the caretaker of a mysterious estate that Ken has a mysterious connection to. I’m about halfway through the book (sh*t is just about to hit the fan), and am really enjoying it. It feels like a great set-up and a very cool way into a thriller…part EVELYN HARDCASTLE, part SHUTTER ISLAND.⁣ ⁣ Longer synopsis below, ONE OF US KNOWS officially hits bookshelves tomorrow! Thanks to my friends at @williammorrowbooks for the gifted copy!⁣ ___⁣ #thriller #psyhchologicalthriller #bookrecommendation #murdermystery #psychologicaldrama #thrillers #suspensenovel #domesticsuspense #bookrecommendationsforhim #bookrecommendationsforher #2024bookrecommendation #newbooks #newbook #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookrec #jordysbookclub #jordymademedoit

#JBCBOOKREVIEW • LISTEN FOR THE LIE •⁣ ⁣ There seems to be a lot of swirl around Amy Tintera’s LISTEN FOR THE LIE, a southern-fried satire/suspense novel about a young woman who returns to her hometown to clear her name when a popular podcast accuses her of murdering her best friend. It’s a Book of the Month March selection, not to mention the GMA pick, and reviews have called it “a world-class whodunnit” and “laugh-out-loud thrilling and twisty.” So…is the book worth the buzz??⁣ ⁣ Check out today’s Substack post for my full thoughts!! THRILLER FANS, THIS IS A MARCH TITLE WORTH PRIORITIZING!! COME ENTER FOR A CHANCE TO WIN A COPY OF “WHAT HAPPENED TO NINA?”⁣ ⁣ • #JBCBOOKREVIEW • WHAT HAPPENED TO NINA •⁣ ⁣ TL;DR: thriller fans looking for a fast-paced, unputdownable thriller or domestic suspense will find a lot to lean into with WHAT HAPPENED TO NINA, a fictional retelling of the Gabby Petito story told from the POV of the family members involved in the disappearance of a young woman and her suspicious boyfriend who claims she dumped him and ran off. The book is sharply-written, cleverly plotted, and takes a dark and twisty look at the sacrifices parents make for their kids and the lengths they’ll go to protect them.⁣ ⁣ Don’t believe me? The book is already receiving rave reviews, with readers calling it “a propulsive and satisfying mystery” and “a stunning masterpiece”. And while the book doesn’t publish for a few more weeks, I’m excited to not only share the exclusive “book trailer” this morning, but also to partner with my friends at @williammorrowbooks to give away (5) finished copies of the book. SWEATSHIRT LOVERS UNITE!! JORDY’S BOOK CLUB MERCHANDISE IS HERE!!!⁣ ⁣ We’ve crossed the rubicon, book friends. First of all, happy Friday. Hope everyone had a nice week.⁣ ⁣ Second…ask, and you shall receive. We’ve got JBC merchandise. It’s not something I had ever envisioned doing (or something I thought anyone would be interested in beyond my mom; hi mom!), but it’s something I’ve been thinking about for a while now…cut to my amazing brother-in-law finally giving me that push I needed when he mocked up a JBC sweatshirt for me a few weeks ago. I ended up wearing it last weekend, and there were a LOT of you asking me where they could get one.⁣ ⁣ So…why not?! Jordy’s Book Club merchandise is HERE. I worked really hard on it, and I’m kinda proud of how it all turned out. I’m a stickler for a VERY specific kind of sweatshirt, and made a point of trying a few before landing on the super soft hoodie and -of course- a limited edition classic JBC crewneck (black knee-high socks not included…yet!). I’ve also got your bookstagram staples: an excellent canvas tote (Emily Mariko eat your heart out), coffee mug (duh), and REMOVABLE book club stickers.⁣ ⁣ All of these items (and more!) can be found in the link in my profile (I’ll also share it in my stories). Hope you enjoy, and always open to feedback if there are other items you’d like to see (I was very close to pulling the trigger on a neon green fanny pack, but decided to show some restraint!).⁣ ⁣ As always, thank you for the support and engagement and positive energy you all bring to this account day in, day out. Fortunate to have so many of you spending time with me in this nerdy corner of the internet.⁣ ⁣ Have a great weekend, everyone!!⁣ ⁣ Jordy⁣ ___⁣ #thriller #psyhchologicalthriller #bookrecommendation #murdermystery #psychologicaldrama #thrillers #suspensenovel #domesticsuspense #bookrecommendationsforhim #bookrecommendationsforher #2024bookrecommendation #newbooks #newbook #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookrec #jordysbookclub #jordymademedoit

QOTD: Do you enjoy having house guests? Iris and Gabriel have the perfect life. When they return from out of town, they discover that one of their friends, Laure, has come to stay with them after splitting from her husband. They invite her to stay as long as she needs. It isn’t long before she overstays her welcome though by following Iris around, and borrowing her clothes. With secrets piling up all around them, including what really happened to Laure’s husband, can Iris and Gabriel’s marriage survive? This was a fun slow burn domestic drama. I have enjoyed B.A. Paris’s other works so was excited for this one to hit my inbox. The characters were a lot of fun in this one and it was interesting to figure out all of their dynamics. None of the characters were what I would consider reliable, and that made for a fun twist. It was a little confusing at first to understand whose point of view was being shared in each chapter until I got the hang of things, but when I did it worked. I enjoyed the twists that occurred. I did see a few of them coming, but they were still really good and worked. The pacing was on the slower side, but the short chapters and constant point of view switching did help keep things moving. The epilogue on this one was so fun and really made the story. Thank you so much to St. Martins Press @Stmartinspress and Netgalley @netgalley for this e-arc in exchange for an honest review. The Widowmaker ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Genre: Thriller Format: Audiobook Date Published: 12/6/22 Author: Hannah Morrissey Publisher: Macmillan Audio Narrator: Adam Verner; Xe Sands GR: 3.89 I requested a digital advanced readers copy from NetGalley and Macmillan Audio and providing my opinion voluntarily and unbiased. ⚠️Content Warning: Abuse, abuse of a child, and violence. My Thoughts: This was a dark, disturbing twisty thriller, that was hard to put down! There is no doubt that Morrissey knows how to create an atmospheric thriller with evolving characters, plot twists, and a conclusion that is somewhat unpredictable. This is book no. 2 in the Black Harbor series, however, it can be read as a standalone. I have the first book in the series and will definitely be going back to read it. The story is narrated in a dual POV by Morgan and Hudson. The author does a fantastic job at building up the characters, developing the plot in many twists, and the conclusion was mind-blowing. The narrators do an amazing job at creating the characters, creating the tone that immerses you into the story. A cold case with a new case, told in a way, that is suspenseful, and keeps you on the edge of the seat. Morgan is fragile, secretive, had a rough past, can be intimidating, and then witnesses a tragic event. Investigator Hudson is grieving the loss of his friend when he gets the chance to put himself on the map as a lead detective in the cold case, and get upgraded in his caseload. The mystery of the Reynolds family unwrapped divinely and does keep you guessing. The characters were well fleshed out with depth, they were mysterious, intriguing, and creative. The author’s writing style was complex, multifaceted, suspenseful, twisty, and just brilliant. This book releases on Tuesday and I would highly recommend picking up the audiobook. 🏷 . . #whatimreading #booklover #bookworm #bookpic #bookstagram #fiction #booksoninstagram #reviewer #bookfriends #bookrecs #goodreads #bookishgirl #2022bookgoals #bookpost #Book-Reviews #netgalley #thriller #suspense #mystery #policeprocedural #detective #psyhchologicalthriller #blackharbor #thewidowmaker #hannahmorrissey #macmillianaudio
