📚 Friend zone - Abby Jimenez 📚 După ce am adorat seria "Part of Your World", am fost tare happy când am văzut că va fi tradus la @edituranemira romanul de debut al autoarei, "Friend zone", prima carte din seria cu același nume. Pur și simplu mă reîndrăgostesc de stilul lui Abby Jimenez la fiecare carte citită, le citesc cu mare interes, sunt distractive dar și serioase, câte puțin pentru fiecare 🤭 "Friend zone" spune povestea lui Kristen și Josh care devin prieteni, se înțeleg de minune, dar există și o atracție între ei care nu poate fi ignorată ❤️🔥 Mi-au plăcut multe lucruri la acest roman: - descrie destul de bine lupta ei cu crampele (cu care orice femeie are de-a face de-a lungul vieții), dar care aici sunt baza unor probleme medicale serioase - relațiile de prietenie sunt frumoase, puternice si relatable - se întâmplă lucruri la care nu m-am așteptat, dar pe care le-am înțeles (citind apoi niște recenzii, am observat ca aceste schimbări de situație au fost deranjante pentru mulți) - personajele sunt tare plăcute și distractive (cel puțin pentru cum le-am simțit eu 😅) Am citit cartea împreună cu o prietenă și mi-a prins bine la final să discut despre anumite lucruri. Ideea cărții se învârte în jurul infertilității, ceea ce poate fi un subiect delicat pentru multe cititoare/cititori. O persoană care a trecut sau trece prin asta, poate vedea anumite părți ale cărții altfel decât le-am perceput eu. Vă spun doar de lucrul acesta să știți dacă vă e greu să citiți cărți cu acest subiect. La cum am simțit eu cartea, nu pot decât să o recomand, la pachet cu orice a scris vreodată Abby Jimenez. Mid series thoughts: Book: The Ballad of Never After (book 2 in the Once Upon a Broken Heart trilogy) Author: Stephanie Garber Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 *spoiler free, just a general rave about its amazingness First off Stephanie Garber, it is unfair how amazing this series is. I am beyond happy to have not experienced chronic 2nd book syndrome with The Ballad of Never After. This series has just been beyond whimsical and wonderful. I like Caraval, but I am in LOVE with this series. It doesn't help that I am such an absolute sucker for fractured fairy tales and morally grey characters. The setting and story that Garber is able to create in these stories is just incredible. It draws you in to a world of whimsical wonder, where fairy tales and curses run rampant. The character development was amazing, and I love how the backstory is unraveling with the plot. Absolutely suggesting this series to all those who love fairy tale retellings, and those who enjoyed Caraval. I can almost guarantee you will love this just as much if not more. 📖 BOOK REVIEW - STRANGE SALLY DIAMOND by Liz Nugent 📖 Oh. My! This book is jaw, droppingly good! I read it in one sitting and was left speechless once I’d finished. It’s taken me a week to even attempt a review, and to give other readers the same experience as me I’m going to keep it purposefully vague It starts with Sally Diamond attempting to cremate her father, who passed away naturally, in the garden incinerator. She doesn’t see anything wrong with it - he told her to put him out with the bins when he goes after all. And Sally took that literally. Now left all alone at 40 years old, she’s forced to navigate a world she doesn’t understand, with an independence she’s never experienced and face the secrets of her childhood which lead her to being Strange Sally Diamond I LOVE Liz Nugent’s books. She’s a master at developing extremely flawed characters and a back story to explain their disturbing behaviour. And this book is incredibly disturbing, layered and twisty. I couldn’t put it down. I didn’t even want to stop reading to go to the loo until I absolutely had to. It was an absolute ride of a book that I could not have predicted. I experienced every emotion while reading it - from horror to heartbreak, shock and sympathy, anger, hope and sadness. I felt them all I declared Skin Deep by this author a favourite read back in 2018. It IS a great book and I recommend it. But Liz Nugent has outdone herself with this one I feel and has very much became an autobuy author for me. I recently took in 3 bags of books to a local bookstore and while they were going through the bags I perused the shelves. I saw this one first. I even took a picture because I loved the title so much. But despite buying a few books, I didn’t buy this one. I never even pulled it out to see the cover. Then I couldn’t stop thinking about it. The more I thought about it, the more I had to have it. The next day it rained. It rained hard. But there was a brief break in the rain at the time the store was opening. I went back thinking I knew I would kick myself if it was gone. When I walked to the shelf I didn’t see it right away. Sniff. Parting of clouds. A ray of sun. I spotted it and pulled it off the shelf. Then I saw the cover. If I had seen the cover I never would have left it. Am I a tax attorney? No. Will I read it? Not really. I will dip in and out of it because of curiosity. Even the front quote intrigues me. But being in Texas I just had to have it. Review: 📚 How to End a Love Story 📚 Thank you to Avon Books and Book Club Girl for the advanced reader copy and to Harper Audio and LibroFM for the complimentary audiobook. These opinions are my own. Wow! The writing here was simply phenomenal. Grant and Helen went to high school together. They weren't friends, but they were tied by an awful incident. And now he is one of the primary TV writers adapting her hugely popular YA series to television. Grant and Helen have forced proximity that feels so rough. And they both need to keep on with it given they work together. Since I so frequently call out miscommunication in romances, I think it's important to highlight just how great the communication was here. I was so impressed by both of them separately and as individuals. And this was hot. The two had so much chemistry. I was so invested in their relationship and whether they could really make it work. Katherine Chin and Andrew Eiden brought it to life on audiobook. Their narration was absolutely spectacular, and I am glad I chose to listen to this one. It was deeply emotional and moving. Boys of tommen 🧡🇮🇪🩷 Little appreciation post for my favourite series 🥹 I cannot explain the loveee I have for these books and characters. seriously, they have my entire heart and soul. I haven't stopped thinking about them all since first reading binding 13 last year. It's a series I'll always come back to no matter what mood I'm in. I will always love shannon and johnny so much because they're the first couple that we follow and Shannon's story will forever stick with me but i think joey and aoife — especially joey — will always hold a real special place in my heart. 🤍 I recently reread this series in time for the release of taming 7 and seeing literally not one bad review is making me so excited but I can't deny I'm nervous too.. 😅 I kept putting it off because I just don't want to be done with these characters.. until the next book anyway. buuut I think it's time to dive into claire and gibsie's story, I already know I'm going to fall even more in love with them.. especially gibs 🥹 Have you read this series, or planning to? 🏹

🌺Happy Sunday, friends! 🌺 I finished Identity by Nora Roberts this weekend and loved it! It felt like such a journey into their world and I wanted to savor it and not rush through it. The book is about a con artist who has his sights set on Morgan Albright. He woos women, earns their trust, and then steals their identity, their money, and then strangles them to death. By a turn of events he isn’t able to kill Morgan, but she’s forced to move home to live with her mother and grandmother and begin rebuilding her life. Set in the mountains of Vermont, Morgan finds a life better than she could have imagine, but she knows he’s still out there and coming for her because she’s the one that got away. I’m a huge Nora Roberts fan. I love her trilogies, but I also really love these stand alone suspense novels. 4🌟 Joan’s husband went missing one night almost a year ago after a fight they had, she’s been searching for him ever since. One day after getting drunk with her cousin she runs across revival tent only to find her husband is the preacher and has no memory of her whatsoever. The story revolves mostly around her quest to get him back and a couple of wolfmen types that are either haunting or hunting the various characters. I’m sorry it took me so long to get to this one, I always enjoy Dimaline’s writing, the characters and relationships were interesting, though it does have a bit of an open ending, with the main story wrapped up but some still unanswered questions. Young Mungo by Douglas Stuart 💝 One of my #24in24, this time recommended by the wonderful @craigsreads, I finished today and just had to review super quickly! Young Mungo is the youngest of three siblings living in Glasgow with an alcoholic, neglectful mother they call Mo Maw. He twitches, compulsively picks at sores on his face and is the kindest, most loving person in the family. At the beginning of the novel, he is off on a fishing trip organised by his mother, with two strange men Mungo does not know. We go back in time a few months, where we see snapshots of his life with his caring sister Jodie and his older brother Hamish who is part of a gang that are looking for trouble amongst the opposing Catholic side. But then Mungo falls in love with a boy and a doocot full of pigeons... I must admit I wasn't sure about this to start off with. I read the first half of this novel three weeks ago now and then started reading other things but then something happens on that fishing trip and we fall in love with James too and it gets interesting! I was worried it would be a solid four star tragic read of poverty and its devastation but then Mungo just becomes epic and I loved it! The pace changes, I wanted to find out what had happened as it flitted between the fishing trip and the time before. And that ending! It was ambiguous but I'm totally getting my happy ending, that's what happened, don't tell me otherwise! There are trigger warnings for sure but if you can get past the sadness of it all then there is hope and love, which I reckon always wins xx . . . . . . . . . . . . ~🤍🤍~ Sonntagshygge ~🤍🤍~ Die sah heute bei mir so aus: Zuerst gab's ein gemütliches Frühstück mit allem drum und dran. Danach hab ich ein bisschen Gartenarneit gemacht: Zucchini, Mangold und Frühlingszwiebeln ausgesät und Tomaten umgetopft. This was a quick read, and we really enjoyed it! We especially like the way the storyline deals with grief, because it pushes back on the idea that you have to get over it and move on, like it’s that easy—and just in general, this book doesn’t downplay the real stuff that teenagers deal with. [Unbezahlte Werbung] 4 von 5 ⭐️. Um „Wenn sie wüsste“ gibt es schon seit Monaten einen absoluten Hype. Deswegen war meine Neugierde auf diesen Thriller riesig. Letztendlich war es zwar kein Jahreshighlight für mich, aber ein Buch, dass ich mit großem Vergnügen gelesen habe. Insbesondere kann ich es auch Gelegenheitslesern oder jemand, der sich gerade in einer Flaute befindet empfehlen. Der Schreibstil von Freida McFadden ist nämlich außerordentlich fesselnd und es ist quasi unmöglich, das Buch aus der Hand zu legen. Nach 10 Jahren Gefängnis ist Millie auf der Suche nach einem Neustart. Doch die Leute begegnen ihr mit Misstrauen und kaum jemand möchte ihr eine Chance geben. Als sie als Haushaltshilfe bei dem wohlhabenden Paar Nina und Andrew Winchester anfangen kann, wirkt alles zunächst wie ein 6er im Lotto. Doch Nina mutiert schnell zum absoluten Drachen und generell scheint in dieser Familie einiges merkwürdig zu sein. „Wenn sie wüsste“ beginnt wie ein Liebesroman. Das Aschenputtel Millie schwärmt für ihren reichen, attraktiven Chef, der sich mit seiner verrückten Gattin herumplagen muss. Oft mag man die Charaktere in Psychothrillern nicht so gerne, aber Millie habe ich schnell ins Herz geschlossen. Sie ist hilfsbereit und immer gut gelaunt. Man ist als Leser 100prozentig auf ihrer Seite. Der Klappentext verspricht ein paar Twists. Ich muss sagen, das ich die erste große Wendung schon vorhergesehen habe und auch die anderen nur teilweise überraschend für mich waren. Was ich besonders an dem Buch finde ist, dass man dadurch, dass man so stark mit Millie sympathisiert, jede Wendung feiert und mit einem Lächeln auf den Lippen verfolgt, obwohl es teilweise ganz schön starker Tobak ist. Der Entertainment-Faktor von „Wenn sie wüsste“ war die kompletten 400 Seiten über sehr hoch und ich freue mich, dass es noch zwei weitere Abenteuer mit Millie geben wird.
