Daphne + Miles have my whole heart 🩵 I’m in repeat awe of EMILY HENRY’s incredible writing and storytelling talent and FUNNY STORY hooked me from the start. And it didn’t take long for me to be legit, doubled-over, laughing on the side of the road 👉🏻 I was out for a walk while listening to the audiobook for some context. I never knew Jordan almonds could bring me to tears. The. Best. Fake dating. Charming small town vibes. Heartbreak. A Michigan summer. Two ex’s that are too close for comfort. Found family. And actual family. And a story about what happens when the life you had all planned out goes totally off course. When Daphne’s fiancé Peter breaks up with her to be with his childhood “I swear we’re just friends” bestie, Petra, she’s devastated. When Peter gives her a week to find a new place to live, she’s stunned. Daphne left her job, her friends and her mom to move to Peter’s lakeside hometown and now she’s lost everything. AFGHANISTAN This was my choice for our #iamawanderlustreader book club this month, and man was it a page turner. Sitara is in Afghanistan's Palace in 1978 when a military coup took place. Her whole family was killed, but she survived and ended up in the US. Years later though, she returns to Afghanistan to learn more about what happened. I definitely learned a lot about Afghanistan's history in this one and while I did have a few quibbles with the writing in some places (ther were some spots where i wish the author had spent more time and some spots i wish she had spent less time), overall it was so good and such a captivating story. #bookpic #bookrecs #bookblogging #bookclubs #booksconnectus #readtheworld

Do you enjoy books in verse? I'm so excited to have gotten the chance to review an eARC of THE HAUNTING OF LAKE LUCY, a MG ghost story in verse coming out on May 14, which I definitely recommend! The Haunting of Lake Lucy is a fast-paced novel-in-verse that I highly enjoyed. I love novels in verse, but as someone who often steers clear of stories whose central plot reduces me to tears, I often sample the genre somewhat liberally. The Haunting of Lake Lucy satisfied my wish for an interesting, multilayered verse book that left me excited and wishing I could read more. Green’s well-written, descriptive verse propels the story forward and dropped me directly into Jayce’s thoughts and feelings, a level of personal intensity lent by the format which truly brought the story alive. It took me a few poems to orient myself to the characters and setting, but once I’d gotten to know them, I was able to truly absorb myself in the story. The setting felt particularly well-imagined to me—the mythos surrounding Lucy and the descriptions of the lake were notably vivid—and helped immerse me in the story. Although parts of this book were definitely creepy, I still found it appealing and engaging as someone who doesn’t always like horror-leaning stories (I’d place the level of creepiness around, or slightly less than, books like The Charmed Children of Rookskill Castle and The Thickety). I definitely recommend The Haunting of Lake Lucy to middle grade readers, or anyone who loves novels in verse! Dobry wieczór! Dzisiaj wyjątkowo późno, ale wpadam, żeby podzielić się swoją opinią na temat widocznej na zdjęciu książki. Czas zacząć tydzień książką ze zbrodnią w tle 😉 ⭐ Hubert, młody pisarz, zostaje odnaleziony w Odrze. Policja uznaje, że jego śmierć to był wypadek. Jego mama nie wierzy w tę wersję wydarzeń. Jej ostatnią deską ratunku okazuje się Iga, przyjaciółka Huberta z dzieciństwa. Kobieta próbowała dostać się do policji, jednak jej kandydaturę odrzucono. Teraz ma szansę, by wykazać się w prowadzeniu śledztwa na własną rękę. Witajcie po ciemnej stronie literackiego światka. Kto i dlaczego postanowił pozbyć się Huberta? A może jego odejście to faktycznie był wypadek? Iga próbuje odnaleźć odpowiedź na te pytania. Jak się okazuje, społeczność książkoholików wcale nie jest taka przyjazna, jak mogłoby się wydawać. Iga, główna bohaterka, chciała być policjantką, jednak nie udało jej się spełnić tego marzenia. Kobieta wciąż szuka swojego miejsca na Ziemi. Na początku nie byłam co do niej przekonana, ale z czasem zaczęłam czuć do niej coraz większą sympatię. Podejrzewam, że znajdą się osoby, które będą w stanie odnaleźć w niej cząstkę siebie. Choćby w relacjach z matką. Według mnie to jest jeden z lepszych wątków w tej powieści. Mnie w każdym razie dał do myślenia. Intrygowało mnie też to, jak Iga poprowadzi tę sprawę. Autor ma u mnie ogromnego plusa za to, jak pokazał kwestie związane z wydawaniem książki, zwłaszcza z pracą korektorów. Wiem z własnego doświadczenia, z czym to się je, i cieszę się, że w powieści znalazło się choć trochę miejsca, żeby o tym powiedzieć. Myślę, że ten aspekt powieści również może zainteresować czytelników. Za to kwestia blogosfery może nieco zmrozić krew w żyłach. Anastazja będzie mi się po nocach śniła. Za każdym razem, kiedy się odzywała, czułam, jak mi się nóż w kieszeni otwiera. Jeśli chodzi o wątek kryminalny, to nie mam większych zastrzeżeń, jedynie końcówka i pewna pułapka trochę mi zgrzytały. 📖 BOOK REVIEW 📖 “The Woman At Number 6” by Matthew Farrell ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ 💫 📚I had such a great time participating in the @BookSparks book tour, and if you haven’t seen my unboxing video, check it out guys. It was so fun reading the book and looking for the clues in the picture above - I was able to find most of them 😀 In this book, Malcolm comes under police’s scrutiny after his wife Tracy goes missing and his mistress is found dead, both on the same day. 💭 I could not put this book down! It’s one of those stay-up-late-at-night reads where every minute you’re away from the book, you’re thinking about it. As I started reading, the biggest question on my mind was, what is Malcolm hiding? He and the doctor were my main suspects. I also loved the idea of two separate investigations coming to a crossing point and propelling the case to solution. The side story of Tracy’s disappearance gave me major Mysery by Stephen King vibes. It was dark and propulsive, but left me with some questions, such as why did Tracy’s sister hide the fact that Tracy called for help when every minute was crucial and they were, supposedly, “in it” together? I also had a somewhat hard time with Tracy’s captor’s identity. That twist was a little stretch for me. I would have liked to see doctor’s POV in this book as well. ⚖️ All in all, this was an original and a very entertaining thriller. Despite some loose ends, this book kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. DNF. Ce livre était beau et prometteur avec ENFIN des légendes nordiques... mais j'ai abandonné au bout de 80 pages environ. Happy Place - Emily Henry ☀️🏝️🌊🩷 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 ❗️SPOILERS AHEAD❗️ I loveddd this book and for me that was so unexpected! This was the book i picked for my first in person book club and i’m so happy i did because we all enjoyed it! It was also just so lovely to speak about it and see what our thoughts were. Firstly, can i just say i love Wyn. I wasn’t sure if i was supposed to at the beginning considering Harriet didn’t want to see him and they’d broken up, but i can confirm he did nothing wrong and i think he’s the sweetest person. I also really liked Harriet towards the end, at the beginning she kind of annoyed me a bit, but she grew on me. I loved the found family in this book and always love that trope, it just feels really wholesome and special, i love a good tight knit friendship group. It makes my heart happy🩷 Also, for this being called Happy Place, there’s a lot of sad parts in this book which i was expecting because i’d heard people say it was upsetting at points, so maybe do look up trigger warnings if that’s something you regularly do with books, because i’m ngl it’s not all that happy. So, all in all, i’m glad i gave Em Hen another chance because this one gave what it was meant to and we will just forget Book Lovers never existed🤣

Dziewczyna musi wybierać - zostać i zginąć razem ze swoją rodziną czy pójść za bestią i spędzić całe życie wśród istot, którymi tak szczerze gardziła. No cóż, wybór był co najmniej oczywisty. Nie mniej jednak, jest to dopiero wierzchołek góry lodowej oraz tego, co ma ją spotkać wśród Prythian. 🌹 "Dwór Cierni i Róż" to niesamowita przygoda, pełna akcji, magii oraz nieoczekiwanych zdarzeń, która wciąga od pierwszych rozdziałów. Uważam, że Sarah J. Maas odwaliła naprawdę kawał dobrej roboty, wprowadzając nas do swojego wykreowanego świata. Od początku do końca wszystko jest logiczne, intrygujące i zachęca do dalszego czytania, a zarazem wszelkie zawiłości są przyjemne dla samodzielnego rozważania. 🌹 To niezwykła książka, która przenosi nas w świat magii, otulając swoim czarem. What year was your current read written/published in? 🤔 Mine are: 1591 (ish) - Henry VI, part two, by William Shakespeare 2017 - The Power, by Naomi Alderman 📚 Pretty old, and pretty new, basically. 😀 Henry VI, Part One was one of the very first play Shakespeare wrote. 🎭 I don’t tend to read any new book for at least a couple of years after it is first published, I like to wait until the hype has died away. 👍🏽 The Power was all over bookstagram when it first came out, but checking on Goodreads its rating has fallen to 3.7. Not great but not bad either. 🫤 One-third in, my thoughts are these: brilliant premise, weakly reasoned, acceptable writing, execution simplistic. I still have hopes for it, but not too high. It’s thought provoking though. 🧠 Have you read it? Take me back to yesterday where I had coffee, a s’mores donut, and reading A Short Walk Through a Wide World still ahead of me! It’s hard to summarize this book, so in one line it’s this. Paris, 1885: Aubry, a stubborn 9 year old, ends up with some kind of disease that only abates if she keeps moving and so she does…for the rest of her life. Can I just say I loved everything about this book. Truly. As Aubry travels the world, criss-crossing but never duplicating her route, she meets the most amazing people. I enjoyed Aubry as a character, but I loved when a new chapter introduced a new companion. Whether for a day, a few weeks, or longer…it was so beautiful to see how each encounter changed Aubry. This story was full of adventure and learning, love and grief, and the understanding that some things have to be experienced to be believed. With a hefty dose of magical realism, if you enjoyed books like Midnight Library, The Starless Sea, and Under the Whispering Door I highly recommend this book!! # Crime Time 🤳🏼 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Genre: Audio Story (?!) Pub Date: December 12, 2023 When Nadia and her newly found half-brother Chase witness a crime in their building and post the whole story to Tik-Tok, their world is turned upside down while they are on the run for their lives. I want to first point out that this isn’t really a book, it’s an “Audio Original”. There is no written format, just a full cast audio story that to me comes across as more of a play than a book (if that makes sense). I had such a fun time listening to this story. At only four hours, it is a quick listen and very entertaining. Chase REALLY REALLY annoyed me and at times made me want to stop listening, but I’m glad I kept going. Once I got a little further in and both Chase and Nadia’s backstories are revealed I was much more invested. Without giving anything away, her dad’s storyline got me hooked and I wanted more of that (and him to be honest). The only other thing I didn’t love were all the sound effects. Typically in an audiobook I think it’s a cool addition, but this was a little too much at times (I really don’t need the sound effects of someone walking away or typing on their phone). Was this story absolutely ridiculous, yes. But gosh did it keep me entertained. If you are looking for something fun to entertain you on a long ride, or for a spring cleaning session this would be a nice option to try out. 💭: Do you use Tik Tok, or do you just stick to Instagram? I don’t post on Tik Tok, but I sure can get sucked into it!

Kitabın başında olan bir olay da bizi sonuna dek takip ediyor. Düz, kurgusal çizgide ilerleyen bir okuma değil bu, sürekli sorgulama halinde bırakıyor okuyucuyu. Acaba diğer insanı ne kadar tanıyoruz? Tanımak gerçekten gerekli mi, tüm sırlar söylenmeli mi? Yoksa bazı şeyler olduğu gibi mi bırakılmalı? Bir insan geçmişinden kurtulabilir mi yoksa bu geçmiş onu mutlaka tanımlamalı mı? Anlatmak iki insan arasındaki şeffaflık mı yoksa anlatan kişinin 'günah çıkarması' mı? Kendi adıma çok zevk alarak okuduğum bir kitap olmadı, uzun karmaşık cümleler, sürekli zihinsel muhasebeler, ayrıntılar biraz sıktı beni. Un jour, il reçoit une visite inattendue, un chat qui parle et requiert son aide pour une drôle de mission : l'aider à sauver les livres Un chat, des livres. En faut-il plus pour me convaincre de repartir avec ce livre chez moi ? Bien évidemment que non ! 🥰 J'ai trouvé ce récit interessant, car il s'agit d'une critique du monde du livre à travers une histoire fantastique et légère. Si l'histoire en elle-même est répétitive et assez plate, les thématiques abordées poussent néanmoins à la réflexion et je pense que ce roman doit être avant tout vu et lu comme un récit philosophique. La construction est bien réfléchie, chaque chapitre est dédié à une thématique. Il y a les lecteurs qui ne relisent pas leurs livres et en prennent un soin monstre, les éditeurs qui publient un livre juste pour sa rentabilité et non sa qualité, ceux qui font la course à la lecture en lisant rapidement dans le but de toujours lire plus, et enfin les collectionneurs qui accumulent les livres sans pour autant les lire. Je me suis reconnue dans une catégorie, moi qui suis une lectrice unique qui vénère la bonne conservation et manipulation de ses livres. Si je ne suis pas forcément d'accord avec la réflexion développée par l'auteur, j'ai quand même été touchée par ses arguments et ils me permettent de mieux comprendre les psychopathes insensibles qui font souffrir leurs livres, en leur cassant le dos, en les prêtant à des êtres sans cœurs, ou en gribouillant/surlignant éhontément dans ces merveilles de papier innocents ☺️ Nan je rigole, ces personnes méritent le bûcher.
