Come si classificano gli studi? Come infermiera di ricerca, ho quotidianamente a che fare con pazienti inseriti in protocolli sperimentali (e non), ma cosa significa? Non tutti i pazienti ricevono dei farmaci nuovi, alcuni partecipano solamente in studi che raccolgono dati a fine di ricerca, sia diretta quindi con un fine che indiretta quindi permettono la creazione di una banca dati accessibile sia oggi che domani per nuovi progetti. È importante quindi saper distinguere uno studio osservazionale fa uno interventistico. Questo non solo per poter lavorare al meglio e con criterio, ma anche perchè spesso i pazienti mi chiedono:"cosa vuol dire che sono inserito in uno studio?", "questo studio a cosa serve?", "cosa implica la mia partecipazione a questa ricerca?" Noi siamo il punto di riferimento dei pazienti. Noi dobbiamo conoscere in cosa sono coinvolti i nostri pazienti e perchè. I frequently experience people misunderstanding my work. People who take offence to the notion that I consider the emancipatory potentials of gestational technologies. If heretic were in use in common language, it would be used toward me! 'We don't need emancipation from motherhood - how could you suggest such a thing'. And you know what - it's hurtful to me. Because these slides are snippets, are windows into 21 years of single motherhood. I am a PROUD MOTHER. I adore the children I've given birth to and the ones I've been blessed to walk alongside in marriage. I cherish my children and, without question, LOVE them. As well as this - I have experienced 21 years of the motherhood penalty. Yes, TWENTY ONE - maybe more. And for the last 8 years I have devoted myself to research, in an attempt to understand WHY? If feminism has succeeded, why we cling to outdated fordist notions of the family and construct 'idealised worker' tropes based on masculine qualities. ONE issue is the correlation of woman = gestation. JUST ONE. I have campaigned against systemic injustice. I have marched. I have spoken truth to power about discrimination. As do sooooo many - most notably @pregnant_then_screwed and @mother_pukka No matter what we do, gestation remains the elephant in the room & it's an elephant I have committed to explore. So - next time you see my posts or read my work, know this: I'm not targeting motherhood. I'm an angry mother just like you!
