(Ja, ik ben ook énorm dol op de Twilight saga) Misery Lark is de dochter van de vampierenleider en wordt voor de tweede keer ingezet als onderpand. De eerste keer heeft zij jaren tussen de mensen geleefd, om het verbond stand te laten houden tussen mens en vampier. Nu moet zij trouwen met de Alfa weerwolf Lowe. Wederom om een verbond in stand te houden, ditmaal tussen de vampieren en weerwolven. En zo komt Misery als pasgetrouwde, jonge vrouw terecht tussen een hele roedel weerwolven. Dat de één zakken bloed uit de koelkast leegslurpt, de ander graag met volle maan in het bos rent en beide soorten elkaar al eeuwen haten, zijn niet echt de ingrediënten voor een geslaagd huwelijk. Misery voelt zich dan ook helemaal niet op haar gemak, terwijl zij ondertussen de verdwijning van haar beste vriendin probeert op te lossen. Die verdween voor zij instemde met dit huwelijk. En het één heeft waarschijnlijk ook met het ander te maken. En dan is er dus nog de echtgenoot. Alfa weerwolf Lowe, leider van de roedel. En die er eigenlijk gewoon uitziet om euh… haar tanden in te zetten! Nou, een misery is dit boek zeker niet! Ik moest er even inkomen, maar las daarna het boek achter elkaar uit. Het einde is fijn bevredigend, je weet hoe het afloopt en er zijn geen losse eindjes, terwijl er toch genoeg uit te diepen valt in een tweede boek. E, apesar de já o ter há algum tempo, adiava a sua leitura, esperando pelo momento ideal. Pois bem, abril chegou e pareceu-me uma leitura apropriada para o mês. O Retorno dá voz às famílias que abandonaram as ex-colónias. Conhecemos um pouco desta realidade através de Rui que, em 1975, tinha 15 anos. Através das suas memórias, Rui leva-nos a viajar por Angola. Fala-nos do clima daquele país, das amizades, das rotinas, fala-nos de si. Contudo, a sua vida seria abalada por uma descolonização apressada. A incerteza e o medo tornaram-se recorrentes e, como tal, foi obrigado a abandonar o país em que cresceu, rumo a uma metrópole para si desconhecida. Em pouco tempo, mais de meio milhão de pessoas voltaram para Portugal. Contudo, o país não estava preparado para as receber. O discurso que, inicialmente, transmitia esperança ao assegurar diversas condições de vida, verificou-se uma fraude. A metrópole estava longe de ser o que idealizavam e necessitavam. De forma generalizada, o país falhou na integração destas pessoas. Eram rejeitadas, tratadas com desconfiança, vistas como inferiores, rotuladas como "retornadas". HAPPY SUNDAY BESTIES! It’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted but I’m BAACK! The last few weeks have been a lot - between hiking through Arizona and Utah, to dealing with some personal problems and getting used to work after a big vacay - I haven’t had much time to read or do anything fun. BUT Zodiac Academy 9: Restless Stars came out on April 23rd and I finally got my hands on the paperback! I’m so so so excited (and kind of scared) to read the last book of this series. @susanne_valenti and @carolinepeckham aren’t called the Twisted Series for nothing after all. Zodiac Academy is one of my absolute favorite series ever - I read the the first seven books on Kindle Unlimited back in 2022, and had to get the physical copies as trophies because they were just that good! Also to my fellow Swifties- The Tortured Poets Department came out April 19!! What do we think? I love love love it, and have been listening nonstop. Archer’s voice by @miasheridanauthor 🩵💙 • rating : 2.5-3/5 ( I don’t want to give it a 2 cause I liked the book but the writing style was something that didn’t match the story somehow so 2 for that ) I really liked this book , although to be very honest It was like reading a wattpad book , you may go into it thinking it like a dark and sad and emotional , while it definitely is emotional and sad ( I cried a lot ) but the writing was somehow a very well written wattpad novel and the story was also not that great. And even tho it was a book about healing and finding love somehow I still felt it wasn’t enough. And I was not at all expecting so much smut. The amount of smut for a book about healing I didn’t like that it felt like for a character that went through so much how does she seem so fine like she was affected but not as much as she should be if that makes sense and archers “ healing” was kinda on fast forward. So the amount of smut and writing style is what made me feel it was a fanfic type of book. I read Group: How One Therapist And A Circle Of Strangers Saved My Life by Christie Tate in November of 2021. It changed my life. I wish I could personally thank this author for writing this memoir. 🫶 My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My Review: It was incredible and I loved it so much! This book is an emotional, heart-breaking yet hilarious and tender memoir. Christie Tate writes a vulnerable, transformative and captivating read of her life and her time in this group therapy session. It is one of the best memoirs I’ve ever read in my life and it ignited my love of them as well.
