Nature is God. The Church will try to convince you to remain detached, to stay disconnected from all of Creation. But the facts remain: We are all of this Earth, when body and ego die, to our humility we return. We only have one chance, one opportunity to protect, both for ourselves and for all Nations, for the children, future generations. We can't continue to take from the same soil, poison all waterways and give nothing back. So far, it looks like we are still destroying our one and only planet, causing it to overheat, while we continue eating, bleeding it until dead and dry. Even if we are to survive as a parasitic species, we must take back the ways of the ancestors, Return to the source, give back to our host, keeping us both alive. As it is in Nature, there is give and take, we must learn to adapt, continuing to grow, evolve or get wiped out, taken by the great forces of Creation. After Earth Day 2024, I had the urge to reflect and discuss how my journey with the Earth has changed over time. Growing up, I was generally pretty disconnected with the Earth. Not an outdoorsy type of person. Did not really appreciate animals or nature overall. Disliked bugs (spiders are still iffy not gonna lie lol). After many years of growth, I have come to realize nature is healing. Nature is beautiful. The Earth provides us with everything we need. Not just resources, but spiritually it provides so much healing and energy we have a hard time putting into words. Its just a *feeling*. Mother Earth holds us. She holds space for us. She gives us life. When we die, we give back to her and so many aspects of creation around us. It is a beautiful cycle. Ways you can begin your Earth conscious (and Earth appreciation) journey - * thrift - shop second hand for MULTIPLE things (clothes, baby items, home goods, furniture, business supplies, etc.) Check Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, OfferUp, etc. Some people may just be giving things away for free. Thrift stores are also a great place to check out! * reduce plastic use when possible - bring reusable cups, containers, etc. when going out places. bring your own shopping bags or just carry things in your hands rather than using store plastic bags * recycle the plastic (and other recyclables) you do use. there is conflicting info if the items we recycle even get recycled properly by recycling facilities ... that is another topic of discussion. however, if you have the ability to recycle (even just partially), that is better than not recycling at all. * spend a few minutes in the morning listening to the birds and sitting in the sunshine. it is a beautiful experience. let the sun grace you with its presence and just breathe into it. * take a few moments to step into the grass barefoot. allow yourself to touch the dirt, leaves, branches on trees, flower petals, etc. just sit in nature and find something you appreciate about it. * leave the bugs alone. this is their home. they deserve to have a beautiful life, even if you are uncomfortable with them or don't understand them. 👇🏻

Celebrating Earth Day with this throwback to our camping trip to Olympic National Park last summer. 🌎 The viral famous Tree of Life is behind us…a little gem we had no idea was just around the corner from our campsite. Waters redirected away from the campsites have slowly eroded the ground away from the roots of this tree, but it still continues to thrive while clinging to the edge of glory. I’ve been referring back to nature a lot these days with the kids that are toiling with many questions about life…and death. The Earth giveth and the Earth taketh, and we all return to it someday. Happy Earth Day!! One of my biggest reasons that sustainability is so important to me is for these beautiful little humans! I want them to know and enjoy nature like I do! I strive to add to the biodiversity on our farm, and hopefully have an impact for wildlife around our neighborhood! I’m growing food without spraying harmful pesticides, because I don’t want it in my body, or in the water table and the environment. I’m making goat milk soap to nourish our skin as we bathe, and keep the soaps free from artificial dyes or perfumes so it isn’t absorbed into our bodies. When I sell my goods at the market, or (hopefully soon) my farmstand, they are wrapped in sustainable packaging- wax paper, string, and glass or tins. All of my labels are paper, not plastic so they can biodegrade. I strive to make choices every day to help make the world better, for my kiddos, and future generations. I’m hoping this makes a lasting impression on my children and they continue to choose to do right by Mother Nature even when I’m not around to push it. Since 2013 this is what I have done for mother earth here in boriken. To raise awareness with ny signs as I carry many signs to many beaches in one given day. This is my form of tough love. The other say at the beach a woman told me tu sueres un bravo. I am brave. This sure is not easy to stand boldly on front of others holding up signs that many would consider radical but I know these signs are going skin deep and making others think and become more conscious of the trash around the. And many dont know I was shot at my face for defending a beach when I recorded a family leaving their trash. But I continue to carry these signs and always remain fearless. I feel like all of this beauty and magick that is boriken should be protected and defended and think it's time we wake up to that reality. Truly believe we are the change this world needs.
